Yenni may arguably have been one of Kenner s most outstanding Mayors, and one who consistently helped CECO to accomplish many of our neighborhood objectives and commitments. The City Council has announced that there will be an election for a new Mayor of Kenner. However, due to timing issues, the election cannot be held until November. In turn, the City Council has appointed Councilman Michael Sigur to serve as Interim Mayor through June and Dominick Impastato, Councilman District 5, to serve as Mayor from July until the November elections. We wish them both well in the certain challenges that lay before them. In that light, CECO s adversity to this situation will be the extended time it will take in getting to know the newly appointed acting Mayors and their administrative replacements, as well as their different methods of handling civic association appeals and requests. As a word of thanks, it is notable that during their past terms both Lenny Cline, Councilman District 4, Bud Logan as well as our At-Large Councilwoman, Maria DeFrancesch have been extremely helpful to CECO in its endeavors to resolve some of the quality-of-life issues within our Chateau Estates neighborhoods. Our Board has found during the past year that the Kenner Public Works Department is a very talented crew and eager to assist our Civic Organization. Example: the three flood lights at the main entrance to Chateau were originally installed in a not-so-good position and, due to our Board s request, the lights have been moved to a better location. Due to your particular residential areas, many of you have noticed the straightening and painting of neighborhood lamp posts. There are good things happening with Mike CON T PAGE 3

Mr. Shane has accepted as one of our speakers at our next CECO General Membership Meeting scheduled March 9th at 7pm at the Pavilion corner Vintage and Loyola. He will speak about the sculptures and other topics of interest to Chateau Estates residents. Mr. Shane has exceptional knowledge and insights for Kenner s future plans. I am a photographer and recently photographed all of the nearby sculptures that we all frequently drive by, but never really get more than a passing glance. Mr. Shane will be accompanied by a photographic presentation of the sculptures and their detailed works presented on the newly installed big-screen at the Pavilion. Accompanying Henry Shane will be Councilman District 5 (the district just to our West) Dominick Impastato who will expand on Kenner s past and future developments in and around Chateau, including the possibility of building a high school on the Loyola tract across from the Pavilion and other Loyola tract developments. State Representative Julie Stokes will be returning that same evening from the last day of the State Legislative session. Julie plans to stop in and speak briefly about the developments with the huge dollar amount of State budget deficit. The March 9 th Member Meeting should be one of extreme interest to us all. We at CECO strive to bring this type of interest to all of our programs. Please take a few minutes to check out our newly designed website "chateau-estates.org. You ll be pleasantly surprised with its professionalism and design. Bud Logan CECO President SQUEAKY WHEEL Eyesore at Bordeaux and Champagne. I do not believe that anything would have been done but because of my contacting Maria DeFrancesch and then her contacting them I saw work resuming the day after that. This has been an eyesore since it had been hit by a vehicle last June. AT&T promised that this would be completed by March 7 th. Thanks Maria. Squeaky wheels.
THE CHATEAU ES TATES GARDEN CLUB February The Richards Home The Chateau Estates Garden Club wishes to thank all who attended our recent Amethyst Fundraiser Evening. It was an enjoyable and successful event, bringing in monies that will help us further beautify Chateau Estates. Be on the lookout for new flowers and plants in the many flower beds throughout the subdivision. Special kudos go to Colleen Tassin, the fundraiser chairperson, and her committee members Cindy Bohrer and Jan Breaux. These three ladies are also the installers of these new plants and are often seen working in those flower beds. Founded in 1977, the Chateau Estates Garden Club has been meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at either the Country Club or the homes of members from September through May with a social at 9:30 a.m. and a meeting starting at 10:00a.m. The year is filled with great activities for those who want to learn more about gardening or landscaping - guest speakers, evening events, floral presentations, workshops, excursions, and more. It is a great way to get to know other residents in Chateau and to feel connected to the community. This year we have 82 members and are always looking for more; to join, contact Stanley Henderson at mshalt@bellsouth.net. The Chateau Estates Civic Organization (CECO) works with the garden club to pay for the maintenance of our ten beds and to help fund special additions and projects that keep Chateau beautiful. There is even a Garden Club link on our CECO website, chateau-estates.org, which highlights the garden club and offers valuable visuals and information. Many thanks go to Bud Logan for including us in his outstanding website. January The Neumeyer Home The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature.
