1/99 Field Instruments Honeywell transmitters and transducers measure flow, temperature, pressure or liquid level, and provide electrical output signals. The output signals are proportional to the input and compatible with Honeywell s full line of indicators, recorders, and controllers. A decision tree is provided on page B-4 for the rapid selection of a general transmitter or transducer category, based on given input and output requirements. Refer to the Specification or Model Selection Guide for specific model selection. Description Pressure ST 3000 Smart accurately measures a differential, gauge, or absolute process pressure and transmits an output signal proportional to the measured variable. The output signal is transmitted in either an analog 4-20 ma format or in digital format for communicating digitally with a Honeywell control system. The selection of the output in an analog or digital communications mode is made through the Smart Field Communicator (SFC) or PC-based Smartline Configuration Toolkit (SCT). The piezoresistive sensor combined with the microprocessor enhances accuracy by compensating the output signal for the effects of ambient temperature and static pressure changes. Typical process control applications include measuring the rate of flow of a fluid through a pipe, or measuring the level of a liquid in an open or closed tank. The ST 3000 Series 100e and 900 were designed as direct replacements for conventional analog transmitters. They use the existing transmitter signal lines for power, signal transmission, and communication. Communication through the SFC or SCT is what makes the ST 3000 unique, and provides the capabilities of remote transmitter adjustments and diagnostics. Using the communicator an operator can adjust and display pertinent operating information, rerange the transmitter without applied calibration pressures, initiate diagnostic tests, and read the input and output pressures all without leaving the control room. This coupled with the transmitter s wide span adjustment, means that the ST 3000 is extremely adaptable to a variety of applications, and it can easily be adjusted to meet changing requirements. Related Offerings To complement the ST 3000 Series 100e product line, these related offerings provide performance and application alternatives: Series 900: Complements the Series 100e with a lower cost, fully smart product with improved performance over a conventional analog transmitter. A local zero and span is optional. Digital (DE) Mode: Allows direct digital communications, with a Honeywell process control system, SFC, or SCT. Stainless Steel Housing Option: Lets you use smart transmitters for special applications such as offshore and harsh chemical environments. SMV 3000 Smart Multivariable extends our proven smart technology to the measurement of three separate process variables with the software functionality to calculate compensated mass or volumetric flowrate. The SMV 3000 utilizes piezoresistive sensor technology to measure both differential pressure and static pressure and a single electronics board to process either an RTD or Thermocouple for the temperature measurement. With these three measurements, the SMV 3000 performs dynamic flow compensation by calculating discharge coefficient, thermal expansion factor, and gas expansion factor so that flowrates can be measured more accurately. The SMV 3000 supports primary flow elements such as orifice, Venturi, nozzle, averaging pitot tube, V-Cone and Laminar Flow Element. The SMV 3000, coupled with the appropriate primary flow ele ment, is a cost-effective mass flowrate Overview solution for gases, steam, and liquids. The SCT 3000 Smart Configuration Toolkit is the primary means for configuring the SMV 3000. Communication protocol choices are 4-20 ma or DE digitally enhanced. In non-flow applications, use the MVA from Vektron to output more than one variable, such as pressure and temperature. SCM 3000 PLUS Smart Coriolis Mass Flowmeters measure the mass, the volumetric, or the solids flow rate as well as the density and temperature of the process fluid flowing through it. They offer the following features: Full range of meter diameters from 2 to 80 mm supporting flow ranges from 0 to 0.08 kg/min (0 to 0.18 lbs/min) through 0 to 3 tons/min (0 to 6600 lbs/min). Straight parallel measuring tubes make it easy to completely drain the detector for quick inspection and cleaning at shutdown. Compact design minimizes space requirements and reduces installa tion cost. Sealed carrier tube provides added security. Wetted parts in SS, Hastelloy C, or Titanium. High oscillating frequencies make the measuring system insensitive to extraneous vibrations. Offers both local configuration at the meter using easily accessible external optical pushbuttons or remote configuration via either RS485 or HART communications mode. Honeywell s microprocessor-based STT 3000 Smart Temperature s convert a primary sensor input into a 2-wire output signal either proportional to the measured variable or linearized to temperature. The output signal is transmitted in either an analog 4-20 ma format or in a digital format (DE) for communicating digitally with a Honeywell control system. This universal temperature input model readily

accepts signals from a wide variety of thermocouple, millivolt, or resistive sensors (RTDs). All configuration, operating, and communications functions are under the control of the STT 3000 s microprocessor and are implemented via the Smart Field Communicator (SFC) or PC-based Smartline Configuration Toolkit (SCT). The STT 3000 Smart Temperature is suitable as a direct replacement for any conventional temperature transmitter in use today. The STT 3000 memory contains the characteristics of most commonly used non-linear temperature sensors. All transmitter adjustments and diagnostic checks are performed via the SFC or SCT connected across the 4-20 ma wire along its route, thus allowing configuration and maintenance from locations remote from the transmitter itself. They offer the following features: Single model accepts a variety of primary sensor input signals providing applications flexibility and reductions in stocking requirements. Digital cold-junction compensation for accurate and reliable temperature measurement over a wide operating range. Suitable for high density mounting on a DIN rail or remote field mounting in an explosion-proof housing. Smart transmitter performance with local or remote interfacing enables significant manpower efficiency improvements in commissioning, start-up and ongoing maintenance. MagneW 3000 PLUS Magnetic Flowmeters operate on the principles of Faraday s Law.
