ACCESSORIES Iroko Page 23-24 CUSHIONS Cushions, Fabrics & & FABRICS Cushion Care Vertical Wall 1500 1800 70 BLOC Outdoor furniture only use 100% solution dyed acrylic fabric which is Teflon coated. The fabrics holds a 7/8 lightfastness and is water repellent. The fabrics are also resistant to atmospheric agents and are stain resistant and rot and mould proof. Our cushions are made out of only the highest quality high to medium density foams. In some cases we use unicurl in our back cushions for a more soft and comfortable feel. The cushions are wrapped in a layer of Dacron and covered with an inner for protection. To Prolong the life and look of your cushions store them in a dry area when not in use. Materials BLOC Outdoor furniture is made out of Iroko Timber, wood of the Iroko tree (Chlorophora excelsa), native to the west coast of Africa. It is sometimes called African, or Nigerian teak. The wood is tough, dense, and very durable. It is often used in cabinetmaking and paneling as a substitute for teak, which it resembles both in colour (light brown to deep golden-brown) and in grain. Naturally one of the most durable timbers because it contains a natural oil. It needs no preservatives (oiling or varnishing) outside. The BLOC collection is locally manufactured from Iroko that is extremely strong and resistant to decay. Iroko s unique colour range blend perfectly with any outdoor environment where harmony with nature is a key requirement. Fittings Oiling should take place every 6 12 months if the furniture is in direct exposure of the elements. If the furniture is constantly undercover, we recommend re-coating every 24 months. There is no sanding involved when recoating your furniture with oil as it does not flake or peel. Bloc Outdoor recommends its own range of Oils for its furniture. Maintenance Each piece of furniture in our range is left untreated in order for it to maintain its most natural appearance. Our furniture is both suitable to be placed undercover or completely exposed to the elements. When oiled or varnished our furniture will darken in colour taking on a orangey brown patina. If the furniture is left untreated and exposed to the elements, it will take on a silvery grey patina due to Oxidation. Oxidation of timber (Silver grey appearance) only takes place if furniture is exposed to the UV rays of the sun. If the furniture is placed undercover or in a shady area it will remain its original colour and no treatment will be necessary. The durability of Iroko means that our furniture will retain its strength and beauty in any outdoor environment. Sanding, Oiling and Varnishing If you choose to leave your furniture untreated, oily foods could leave marks on the furniture surfaces, but may be easily removed with sandpaper. We recommend 100 to 400 grid sandpaper to lightly sand the unwanted marks off the surfaces of your furniture. Oiling or varnishing of timber will allow you to seal your furniture and maintain its rich natural colour.
