Your Carpet Care Equipment You Will Need: Appropriate Personal Protection Equipment Spotters Absorbent towels, cloths or microfibers Tamping brush and bone scraper Wet Floor signs or other blockades Extra vacuum cleaner bags and belts Spray bottle with rinse water Extractor Vacuum Carpet rake Measuring cup
Soil Prevention 1 2 3 4 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Sweep sidewalks, parking areas, and places where soils collect. Use a hose or pressure washer for heavy soils. Vacuum and extract walk-off mats.
Vacuum Cleaning 1 2 3 4 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Remove walk-off mats. Pick up light trash. Use an attachment to clean hard-toreach areas. 5 When finished, replace walk-off mats.
Spot Removal 1 2 3 Identify the spot. Use the appropriate spotter. Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Post Wet Floor signs. 4 Pick up large debris. 5 Test the spotter in an inconspicuous place. 6 Apply spotter to the outside edges of the spot. 7 Agitate with a blunt scraper. 8 Allow the spotter to work.
Spot Removal (continued) 9 10 11 Blot the treated area with a clean, white cloth or hand-held extractor. Rinse the treated area with cool water, blot and extract. Raise the carpet nap. Remove Wet Floor signs or other blockades after the area is dry.
Prespray 1 2 3 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Pick up large debris. Vacuum and roll up walk-off mats. 4 Vacuum carpet thoroughly. 5 Post Wet Floor signs. 6 Prepare your prespray detergent solution. 7 Prespray the carpet. 8 Allow the prespray to work.
Prespray (continued) 9 10 11 Extract. Rinse and store equipment. Remove Wet Floor signs when carpet is dry.
Bonnet Buffing 1 2 3 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Remove large debris and move light moveable furniture. Vacuum and roll up walk-off mats. 4 Vacuum carpet thoroughly. 5 Treat spots on the carpet. 6 Prepare your detergent solution. 7 Post Wet Floor signs and other blockades. 8 Prespray high-traffic areas.
Bonnet Buffing (continued) 9 10 11 12 If you use the dry method: Spray bonnet and carpet with cleaning solution. If you use the wet method: Soak yarn pad and wring out thoroughly. Center the bonnet. Slowly buff the carpet. 14 13 Remove Wet Floor Signs or other blockades after the carpet is dry. Clean your equipment and remove Wet Floor signs. 15 Replace walk-off mats.
Shampoo Cleaning 1 2 3 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Remove debris and moveable furniture. Vacuum and roll up walk-off mats. 4 Vacuum. 5 Treat spots on the carpet. 6 Prepare your shampoo detergent solution. 7 Post Wet Floor signs. 8 Slowly scrub the area with the shampoo machine.
Shampoo Cleaning (continued) 9 10 11 12 Dry the carpet with a carpet fan. When the carpet is dry, vacuum. Clean your equipment and return it to its proper location. Remove Wet Floor signs or other blockades after the carpet is dry. 13 Replace walk-off mats.
Extraction Cleaning 1 2 3 Put on Personal Protective Equipment. Remove large debris. Move light or moveable furniture. Vacuum and roll up walk-off mats. 4 Thoroughly vacuum. 5 Treat spots. Follow the spotting steps in the Spot Removal Procedures section found in the Carpet Care Workbook. Prepare your prespray solution. 6 7 Prepare your extraction cleaning or rinse solution. 8 Post Wet Floor signs or other blockades.
Extraction Cleaning (continued) 9 10 11 Prespray the carpet. Extract the carpet. Empty the recovery tank when full. Refill the solution tank. 12 Dry the carpet with a carpet fan. 13 Remove Wet Floor signs when carpet is dry. 14 Clean your equipment and return it to its proper location. 15 Replace walk-off mats.
Extracting Tips There are three extraction strategies. Diversey will help you pick the one best for your carpet, soil and resources. Heavy Soils Extraction Strategy Prespray, agitate with shampoo brush then extract with Rinse Additive. Schedule carpet extraction on a regular basis according to conditions or specific areas. Frequency Every 1-3 months or as required Medium Soils Prespray then extract with Rinse Additive. Every 4-6 months or as required Light Soils Extract with an Extraction Cleaner. Every 12-24 months or as required
