Installation and Operation Instructions 1000 Series Siren & Controller ` WARNING! Failure to install or use this product according to manufacturer s recommendations may result in property damage, serious bodily/personal injury, and/or death to you and those you are seeking to protect! Do not install and/or operate this safety product unless you have read and understand the safety information contained in this manual. 1. Proper installation combined with operator training in the use, care, and maintenance of emergency warning devices are essential to ensure the safety of you and those you are seeking to protect.. Exercise caution when working with live electrical connections.. This product must be properly grounded. Inadequate grounding and/or shorting of electrical connections can cause high current arcing, which can cause personal injury and/or severe vehicle damage, including fi re. 4. Proper placement and installation are vital to the performance of this warning device. Install this product so that output performance of the system is maximised and the controls are placed within convenient reach of the operator so that s/he can operate the system without losing eye contact with the roadway.. It is the responsibility of the vehicle operator to ensure during use that all features of this product work correctly. In use, the vehicle operator should ensure the projection of the warning signal is not blocked by vehicle components (i.e., open trunks or compartment doors), people, vehicles or other obstructions. 6. The use of this or any other warning device does not ensure all drivers can or will observe or react to a warning signal. Never take the right-of-way for granted. It is your responsibility to be sure you can proceed safely before entering an intersection, driving against traffi c, responding at a high rate of speed, or walking on or around traffi c lanes.. This equipment is intended for use by authorized personnel only. The user is responsible for understanding and obeying all laws regarding warning signal devices. Therefore, the user should check all applicable city, state, and federal laws and regulations. The manufacturer assumes no liability for any loss resulting from the use of this warning device.. This device produces high sound pressure levels which can cause damage to hearing. Appropriate safety precautions should be taken to minimise exposure. INSTALLATION & MOUNTING: Before installation, examine the siren and controller for transit damage. Do not use damaged or broken parts. Important! This unit is a safety device and it must be connected to its own separate, fused power source to assure its continued operation should any other electrical accessory fail.` Caution: When drilling into any vehicle surface, make sure the area is free from any electrical wires, fuel lines, vehicle upholstery, etc. that could be damaged. Before proceeding with installation, plan all wiring and cable routing. 1000 SERIES SIREN CONTROLLER Determine the best mounting position for the controller in the vehicle. Mount the unit on any suitable clean fl at surface. If the vehicle is fi tted with air-bags, ensure that the chosen mounting position will not effect their deployment. Refer to the diagram below for connection details. Controller In-Line Coupler To M Siren Page of

1000 SERIES SIREN AMPLIFIER Important! This system must be securely mounted in an area with adequate ventilation and no direct exposure to water as excess heat or water ingress may adversely affect the operation of the siren and safety of the siren During normal operation, the 1000 Series Siren can produce signifi cant amounts of heat. With this in mind the unit should be mounted in a non-confi ned area. The recommended positions for the unit are on the fl oor of the vehicle under the front passenger seat, or around the front passenger kick panel area. Screw the mounting bracket to a fl at surface. Place the 1000 Series Siren in the bracket, such that the connectors at one end are accessible. Thread the fastening strap over the unit and through the slot on the other side of the bracket. Pull back fi rmly on the strap and fasten it down. WIRING INSTRUCTIONS Caution! This device produces high sound pressure levels which can cause damage to hearing. Appropriate safety precautions should be taken to minimise exposure. End view of 1000 Series Siren Vehicle Connector Socket 1 - GND 11 - (+) 10 - IN 6 - GND - (+) 4 - IN 9 - BONNET - PARK LIGHT - SPEAKER + - - 60W LIMIT 1 - SPEAKER - 1. A wiring harness which plugs into the vehicle connector socket is supplied with the 1000 Series Siren. The wires in this harness are detailed in the table below.. Do not connect the red power wires of the harness to the battery terminal until all other connections have been made to the unit.. Check that a fuse is installed in the fuse holder of the 1000 Series Siren. 4. Plug the harness into the vehicle connector socket.. Connect the red power wires to the battery terminal. 6. Connect the cable from the microphone to the MICROPHONE socket on the 1000 Series Siren.. Connect the cable from the controller to the NETWORK socket on the 1000 Series Siren. The controller should emit a short beep and be ready for use. COLOUR FUNCTION CONNECTION DETAILS Both red power wires must be fused at a power source, using the shortest possible wire length. Ref Wiring Diagram. Both black ground wires must be connected to either battery negative or an appropriate ground point on the vehicle. WHITE SPEAKER The white fi gure- speaker wires connect directly to the siren speaker. PURPLE BONNET PARK 60W LIMIT The grey fi gure- radio input wires should be connected to the auxiliary or speaker output of a two-way radio. The radio input is designed for a Vpp signal level. The horn wire must be connected into the vehicle horn circuit such that it connects to ground when the vehicle horn is activated. Usually this is done at the horn relay. Ref Wiring Diagram. The bonnet wire input is normally used to activate the primary and takedown lighting functions on the 1000 Series Siren from outside the vehicle, via a switch mounted around the bonnet area of the vehicle. The bonnet input is activated by connecting this wire to either +VE or ground. Connect the blue park wire into the vehicles park light circuit. This input activates the controller keypad backlighting. The controller backlight will not function unless this wire is connected. If connected to either +VE or ground, this input will restrict the output power of the siren to a maximum of 60W. If 100W output is desired, leave this wire unconnected. Page of

1000 SERIES SIREN RELAY CONNECTOR The 1000 Series Siren is equipped with relays for switching different lighting loads. LEDs located above each output terminal indicate the relay status as well as fuse faults. If an output fails check the fuse on the power feed and the internal fuses. It is necessary to provide positive supply to the input terminals (pins 1-). Each pin provides power to a group of relays, which enables the installer to share the lighting loads over different vehicle circuit breakers if required. Refer to the wiring diagram and table below for relay connection details. Use ¼ QC insulated terminals to connect as detailed below as well as in the wiring diagram on the following page. The relay connector pin-out is as follows: Lighting Relay Connections 1 4 6 9 10 11 1 1 14 1 End View of 1000 Series Siren FUNCTION MAX. CURRENT MAX.
