Please Do handle the unit with care, to avoid scuffs and scratches during installation. Do not over-tighten plumbing or any other mechanical fixtures. Do not drop mortar, plaster or similar substances into or onto the unit. This appliance must not be cleaned with a water jet. Commissioning once installed Once the Panamatic has been installed and is ready for commissioning, please complete the Pre-Commissioning Check List overleaf and fax it to DDC Dolphin. We will then call you to book in the commissioning. Do not attempt to start the machine prior to commissioning as damage may occur. Use of the machine without successful commissioning will invalidate your warranty. WARNING FAILURE TO READ THIS INSTALLATION BOOKLET AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN THE INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENT. INCORRECT INSTALLATION WILL CAUSE ABORTIVE COMMISSIONING AND RESULT IN A SUBSEQUENT ABORTIVE COMMISSIONING CHARGE. 2

Name of site where machine is installed Name of person completing check list Contact telephone number.. Date FAX BACK TO: DDC DOLPHIN 01202 724855 Panamatic Pre-Commissioning Check List Prior to booking commissioning, please arrange for the checklist below to be completed. This will ensure that your machine (s) is indeed ready for commissioning and reduce the likelihood of any charges for abortive commissioning visits. Please give 5 days notice of commissioning. Is the P or S trap finally connected to a [] 110mm/4 waste pipe? Is the unit earth bonded? [] If connected to the mains water supply, [] has non-return valve been fitted? Is the water supply connected via a [] flexible washing machine type hose? Do staff have easy access to switch the water [] supply off? Does the electrical supply terminate in [] a switched neon fused spur and do staff have access to switch it off? If the Panamatic is vented externally, [] does the pipe go straight through the wall with gentle gravity fall? Has the overflow been connected correctly? [] If jacking feet have been fitted, have the [] grub screws been removed? If a Scalematic has been fitted, is there an [] isolator upstream for easy cartridge change and is the flow correct? 3

Unpacking the Panamatic Remove all packaging material carefully and dispose of appropriately. Safety Whenever working on the machine, ensure that the power is switched off. Removing the front panel Ensure there is a minimum of 800mm clearance at the front of the machine. Remove the panel by unscrewing the four hex head bolts using a 10mm spanner. Pull the panel gently forward. Carefully place the front panel to one side. Opening the lid After removing the front panel you will see, at the centre-top of the open machine, a solenoid mechanism. Pull the core pin at the top of the mechanism downwards and the lid will open automatically. Accessories Remove any accessories stored in the wash chamber or cabinet and place them carefully aside. Any accessories that are lost will be charged for. Accessories located in chamber Accessories located in cabinet wash rack, flexible hose, jacking feet, scalematic (if ordered), installation kit (if ordered) detergent (if ordered) 4

Levelling We recommend that the floor below the machine is fully sealed to ensure that any leaks are obvious and water is not lost into timber floorboards, particularly where there are ceilings below. Panamatics are free standing and can be levelled by using the 4 grub screws fitted in the base plate. The 2 rear grub screw locations are clearly visible. To access the 2 front grub screw locations, remove the red foot plate carefully by lifting it vertically until it is free from its mounting. Please note that foot plate removal is restricted by 2 wires connected to the foot switch. Once the foot plate has been removed, the grub screws will be visible on the base plate. Level the machine using a 3mm allen key. In some cases it may be necessary to raise the Panamatic off the floor. To do this, remove the grub screws and replace them with the jacking feet supplied. Using a spirit level, check that the machine is absolutely level (both front to back and left to right) before finally tightening the locking nuts. Replace foot plate. 5

Connecting to the soil pipe The Panamatic wash chamber terminates in a 82mm/3 drain male spigot. The spigot should be connected to a series of bends to form either an 82mm/3 S trap or P trap. We strongly recommend that you use Marley SB31 bends. Their shorter length makes adjusting water levels in the trap easier. A selection of 82mm/3 push-fit bends can be purchased from the manufacturer as part of the Panamatic installation kit. Details are given on page 10 of this booklet. It is essential that you use push-fit fittings (not glued) to ensure easy removal in case of blockages. Attach the trap to the stainless steel spigot by means of the support brackets and worm drive clip attached to the spigot. The trap must convert to a 110mm/4 soil pipe via a 110mmm/4-82mm/3 reducer immediately it leaves the machine. Where space does not allow this, a short length of 82mm/3 pipe may be used. For connection to a soil pipe directly behind the machine, the 100mm/4 soil pipe should be a maximum of 345mm high (floor to mid-point of soil). For connection the a soil pipe to the left or right of the machine, the soil pipe should be a maximum of 270mm high so that the rear drain cut-out may be used. Ensure that adequate rodding access points are provided and that the pipework is fully supported throughout with a minimum fall of 1:40. Check for any leaks in the drain system by pouring water into the wash chamber. If the trap has been properly formed, the water level should enter the stainless steel spigot but not rise as far as the chamber itself. 6

Height and depth measurements are standard on all models. Maxi & Optima 3 600mm COMBI SINK UNITS 7

Connecting to the water supply The Panamatic requires cold water supply only and incorporates its own water storage interceptor tank with a Class A air gap and ball valve assembly. Ideally, the machine should operate directly from the rising mains supply. However, it may be connected to a suitable header tank providing that a minimum flow rate, after the ball valve, of 5 litres per minute is achieved (15 psi is normally sufficient). Where the Panamatic is connected directly to the rising main, an approved double check valve should be fitted prior to the connection of the stopcock. This is to prevent any risk of chemicals from the flexible hose leaking out and contaminating the mains water supply. A 1.5 metre length of flexible hose and an adapter are supplied with each machine. First, connect the right angle end of the hose to the Panamatic by means of the adapter already attached to the ball valve assembly inside the machine cabinet. Then, connect the straight end of the hose to a 15mm washing machine type stop-cock. Please ensure that the trailing hose does not interfere with the functioning of the ball valve assembly and that there are no kinks in the hose or leaks at the hose end connections. Please ensure that operators have easy access to switch off the water supply via a stopcock in case of emergency. Connecting the water supply to the Maxi and Optima 3 Units. These units require a hot and cold feed and incorporate their own water storage interceptor tank with a solenoid valve for the hot and cold feed. Water Pressure required = 1 bar minimum 6 bar maximum Minimum Water Flow required = Cold Feed 33L/min at 1 bar Hot Feed 33L/min at 1 bar max temp 50 C Where the Panamatic is connected directly to a rising mains/pumped water supply (hot/cold feed), an approved double check valve should be fitted prior to the connection to the isolator. This is to prevent any risk of chemicals from the flexible hose leaking out and contaminating the water supply. Two-metre length of flexible hose (Blue for the cold feed and Silver Braid (with red strip) for the hot feed) is supplied with each machine. The right-angled end will already be fitted onto the solenoid valves. Connect the straight connection onto a 15mm washing machine type stopcock. Please ensure the trailing end of the hose is not interfering with any moving parts within the machine and kept away from any hot surfaces (steam pipes, chamber wall etc.) Turn on stopcock and check for any leaks. 8

Please ensure that operators have easy access to switch the water supply off via a stopcock in the case of an emergency. Fitting the overflow. The Panamatic is supplied with a 22mm spigot to facilitate the connection of a 22mm overflow pipe. Ideally, the pipe should go directly to atmosphere and terminate in a conspicuous position where any discharge of water can be readily seen (similar to the cistern overflow of a toilet). Ensure that the overflow has a natural gravity fall. Where it is not possible to take the overflow to an outside point, it may be taken to a low level tundish (which must be visible) then via a 22mm trap to the mains drainage. Alternatively, the overflow may empty into a visible floor drain. The overflow connection point is approximately 420mm from floor level on the left hand side of the Panamatic (when viewed from the front). If adjustable jacking feet are used, the above measurement will of course vary. Fitting the overflow to the Maxi and 3 Units. The Maxi & Optima 3 are supplied with a 28mm overflow assembly. Ideally, the pipe should go directly to atmosphere and terminate in a conspicuous position where any discharge of water can be readily seen (similar to the cistern overflow of a toilet). Ensure that the overflow has a natural gravity fall. Where it is not possible to take the overflow to an outside point, it may be taken to the mains drains (which must be visible) via a 28mm trap assembly. Alternatively, the overflow may empty into a visible floor drain. The overflow connection point is located at the rear of the unit on the underside of the rear section of the water tank. 9

Connecting to the electrical supply The power supply to the Panamatic is 230V-240V, 50Hz, liveneutral-earth 2750 Watts. Power should be brought to the machine at a convenient point near the back via fixed wiring from a 13amp neon safety isolating switch with at least 3.0mm disconnection in all poles (not a plug and socket). A 1.5 metre length of cable is supplied with each machine for connecting into the safety switch. Supply cable (HO5 RN-F). Please ensure that operators have easy access to the isolating switch in case of emergency. 1200mm-1300mm from the floor is ideal. Earthing the machine Earthing must be in accordance with current IEE Regulations. An earth bolt is fitted to the rear left hand side of the machine (viewed from the rear) for this purpose. This must be connected with an IEE approved earthing strip to a suitable earth point. Venting to atmosphere If the Panamatic is to stand against an internal wall, an integral venting condenser should have been ordered and will have been fitted in the factory. If the Panamatic is sited against an external wall, the integral venting condenser may not have been ordered. In this case, the machine must be vented direct to atmosphere through the external wall. 1 Connect to the 40mm vent spigot, a 40mm x 32mm reducer/connector 2 Push into the other end of the connector a suitable length of 32mm plastic waste pipe 3 Push the machine, with the 32mm waste pipe attached, into position so that the open end of the waste pipe protrudes through the external wall by approximately 150mm/6. 4 The vent must have a natural gravity fall to atmosphere and discharge where it does not cause a nuisance. We recommend that the venting pipe is no longer than 1 metre. 10

Boxing in Where it has not been possible to fit the machine up tight against the rear wall, we recommend that the gap between the rear of the machine and the wall is boxed in. This will prevent items from falling down behind in areas that may be difficult to reach. Panamatic Combi models Panamatic Combis combine a sink and storage unit with a Panamatic. In addition to the services described above, Combis require hot and cold water supply to the sink unit and a 40mm/11/2 sink waste connection. Fitting a scalematic scale inhibitor Please follow the instructions included with the Scalematic unit. Scalematics are connected to incoming cold water supply. Ensure the directional arrow on the fitting is correct. Fitting a detergent system Where a detergent system has been ordered, the pump will have been fitted to the Panamatic at the factory before despatch and the initial supply of detergent (usually 5 litres) will have been placed inside the cabinet. If a basket (or storage cupboard) has been supplied to hold the 5 litre chemical container, please screw these to a wall within 1 metre of the sluice. The basket/storage cupboard should be in full view of the person responsible for keeping the detergent topped up and at a convenient height for easy removal of the container. Care should be taken to ensure that the lid of the Panamatic is able to open fully and freely. Do not attempt to connect the hose to the detergent container. The engineer will attend to this when the equipment is ready for commissioning. 11
