Canturf can be laid any time of the year. We do however advise you to lay cool season turf during the winter, autumn or spring, while warm season turf is best laid in the summer months. 4 Canturf is frost tolerant and evergreen. Our Canberra Blend is ideal for cooler climates. It stays green all year round and creates a beautifully soft natural carpet for your family to enjoy. 5 Locally grown means its always fresher. Being the only truly local turf grower, Canturf can provide you the freshest lawn without transport stress. PREPARING YOUR SITE It is essential to the success of your Canturf lawn that the site is properly prepared. The following steps should be taken before ordering your Canturf. 1 Clear the area of existing lawn or weeds by spraying with a Glyphosate based herbicide or by chipping the area. Some persistent weeds may need two applications. 2 Cultivate or Rotory Hoe to a depth of 150 mm. Preparing a deep base is critically important to achieving a healthy and deep rooting lawn. It is important to incorporate Gypsum and lime at this stage. The Gypsum will help to break up the soil and the lime will help reduce acidity. These can be applied at a rate of 200 grams per square metre. Also consider adding organic matter such as well composted manure to boost water retention and encourage worm and microbial activity. 3 Topsoil if your soil is inadequate, such as clay soil, it is essential that a high quality sandy loam topsoil be incorporated into the 150 mm cultivated base. On flat areas, where possible, provide a gentle slope for drainage. An in-ground watering system will greatly assist the maintenance of any lawn and if required should be incorporated at this stage. 4 Rake and smooth the soil, removing any rocks, roots and clods. At this stage the soil should be at the final required lawn level. Bring the soil up to the same height as any paving or concreting around the area. Canturf has approximately 5 mm of soil and further settling in the soil will accommodate the thickness of the turf. At the final leveling make sure the soil is smooth and of a fine texture. 5 Measure the area of your planned lawn with a tape measure. Canturf is ordered in square metres.

CALCULATING YOUR LAWN AREA Not sure how much Canturf you need? Try our lawn area calculator by visiting canturf.com.au and clicking on the order tab or use the following formulas. Whatever your lawn shape, if you can divide it up into the shapes pictured (or very close to these shapes) the formulas will make estimating your total lawn area easy. When placing your order, keep in mind that it s generally not a bad idea to get a few spare rolls, just to be sure you don t run out while laying your turf. Each roll of Canturf weighs approximately 12 kg for ease of handling. Rectangles h w x h w Right-angled triangles h w x h 2 w Circles r 3.14 x r 2 Semi-circles r 3.14 x r 2 2

THE IDEAL CANTURF FOR YOU Warm season or Cool season? We recommend you choose one of our Cool Season varieties as they are best suited to our colder climatic conditions. Cool Season Grasses will stay greener all year round as they are frost tolerant. Because they have no runners they won t invade your garden beds and paths. Cool season Canturf is available in blends which are ideally suited to the home garden, Canberra Blend and Canberra Blend with Clover. Low maintenance Evergreen Frost tolerant Hard wearing Both turf types are a blend of Tall Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass which are ideal for a harsh cool climate. While Canberra Blend is a mix of the two, Canberra Blend with Clover also has O Connor s Strawberry Clover incorporated. This fine leaf clover is soft underfoot, evergreen and hard wearing. It will add nitrogen to your soil and can help deter scarab grubs and can cover bare patches effectively. Penturf is also available. It is a fine textured lawn. Its high quality has made it the turf of choice where high level presentation is essential such as public buildings. It requires high maintenance, so we don't usually recommend it for most residential areas. Warm season Canturf such as Buffalo and Couch are also available. Warm season varieties tend to require less water and because they have runners, will self repair but may invade your garden beds and paths. Although these varieties can be grown in our cooler climate, warm season lawn will go dormant in winter and brown off from the effects of frost. Confused??? Please feel free to discuss your requirements with one of our well qualified staff. WANT TO ORDER CANTURF or simply need some advice? Please call our Fyshwick office on: 1800 226 887 or 02 6228 1991 Fax 02 6228 1551 Our staff are there to assist you Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5 pm. Saturday 8.00 am to 1.00 pm Pickups can be made between Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm Saturday 8.00 am to 1.00 pm PAYMENT Payment may be made by credit card over the phone when ordering from our Canturf office, or you may choose to pay cash or cheque to our driver on delivery.

EASY PICKUP OR CONVENIENT DELIVERY To ensure you get the freshest possible Canturf product, pick up your Canturf from our conveniently located farm in Fyshwick. We usually only require one hours notice (before 2 pm) to have your fresh Canturf ready to go. Alternatively, we deliver to the Canberra region 6 days a week with as little as a days notice. We also deliver regularly to the Southern Highlands and Monaro areas. Phone our friendly staff for further details. (See the back page for location map and contact details.) With forklift assistance, your lawn will be delivered where you want back yard or front. Canturf also delivers to the Southern Highlands, Cooma and Yass regions. Our forks require 2.5m width and 3m height for access. If access to your site is restricted our skilled drivers will place the turf as close to your site that is practical and safe. HINTS FOR LAYING YOUR CANTURF 1 Canturf is a perishable product. Install your turf as soon as possible after delivery to avoid overheating. 2 Begin laying Canturf along the longest and straightest edge of your yard, such as the driveway or footpath, and try to lay across the slope. 3 Turf should be laid in a staggered pattern, just like bricks and butt edges and ends against each other tightly without stretching. 4 Do not leave gaps or overlap the rolls and use a sharp knife to cut the rolls and trim corners. 5 Plug any gaps with Canturf and avoid using small strips of Canturf on outer edges as they will not retain moisture. 6 After laying a few rolls, tamp them down to remove air pockets and have a small sprinkler to begin watering as you go.

CARING FOR YOUR CANTURF LAWN Watering A proper watering program is vital in the establishment and ongoing health of a Canturf lawn. Your lawn and topsoil must be kept continuously moist for the first 7 days, after which you may cut back to a more normal watering routine. Take care it never becomes too dry and by the 10th day, your Canturf will be sufficiently established for light use. Regular watering encourages the roots of your lawn to grow deeply into the soil, enabling the roots to source all the available water and nutrients within your soil structure. Mowing - Warm season and cold season Your new lawn should be mowed for the first time about two weeks after laying or as soon as the Canturf reaches 75 mm in height. Ideally your cold season lawn should be kept at a height of 50 mm (60 mm in summer). Mowing too short will expose the base of the plant to weather and traffic. Warm season lawns can be mowed shorter than cool season lawns. Please refer to the graph below for mowing heights for your chosen lawn. Mowing Heights Fescue first cut mowing height 75mm Fescue ideal mowing height 50-60mm Buffalo ideal mowning height at 25mm Couch ideal mowing height 15mm Mowing Height chart

Now you ve got the fabulous lawn you always wanted, do you need some help keeping it that way? Canturf Care Canturf now offers a lawn care service. Canturf Care is more than a one-time solution for your lawn. We ll provide you with an ongoing lawn care programme designed to achieve continual lawn perfection. We do not use a one-size-fits-all strategy, but will design a program to best suit the specific needs of your precious lawn. Your Canturf Care program will include seasonal fertilisation with our exclusive blends of Canturf fertilisers as well as weed, insect and disease management programs tailored uniquely for your lawn. Our expert staff will thoroughly analyse, diagnose, advise and provide what is required to improve and maintain soil quality and promote healthy plant growth. Lawn Fertilization Lawns require fertiliser to maintain health and vigour. We use our exclusive range of pelletised and hose on fertilisers to keep your lawn thick and healthy. Canturf Care will give your lawn the healthy prescription it needs to weather the elements and give you time to enjoy you outdoor lifestyle with your friends and family. Weed Control Weeds compete with desirable lawn grasses for water, space, light and nutrients. They are very aggressive and can easily take over a lawn if not kept in check. Protect your investment with a Canturf Care customized lawn care program that will help eliminate unsightly broadleaf weeds. Insect Control Every year, insects cause severe damage to lawns because of lack of identification and improper control practices. Protect your lawn from damaging insects through a properly supervised Canturf Care program designed to eliminate and reduce future infestations. Seeding Even a well-maintained lawn can benefit from a seeding program. Bare spots caused by drought or other circumstances can leave your lawn showing signs of stress. Let Canturf Care strengthen your lawn with our exclusive range of high quality lawn seed to help replenish bare or damaged areas.

Fertilising with Grow Green With every purchase of Canturf lawn over 2 20m you will receive a voucher for a FREE pack of our Canturf Grow Green fertiliser, redeemable at selected garden centres.
