FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING Context As an approved laboratory in fire resistance for over 40 years, Efectis has been conducting fire safety engineering studies under standardized fire and also in real fire scenarios for more than 10 years. These studies cover any type of smoke control system (natural and mechanical), structures (steel, concrete, mixed, wood) and buildings (public buildings, high rise buildings, residences, nuclear installations, industrial plants, off-shore, etc.). The interest of fire safety engineering n To find a legal alternative to traditional regulatory requirements, n To justify the performance of complex construction systems (fire behaviour, smoke extraction), n To ensure greater architectural flexibility while protecting people and property, n To optimize the safety of a building undergoing rehabilitation (appropriate performances and costs), n To compare the efficiency of various safety configurations. Our services n Public buildings/high rise buildings : Fire behaviour of structures and assessment of studies (French decree dated March 22nd 2004), Smoke extraction and evacuation engineering (French decree dated March 22nd 2004), Reaction to fire of combustible insulations. n Classified industrial hazardous installations: Collapse mode of warehouses, Vulnerability of buildings in terms of thermal, toxic and overpressure effects, Seismic protection (French decree dated January 24th 2011), Thermal flux studies with tests on burning pallets (French FLUMILOG protocol). n Off-shore : Fire behaviour studies of structures and installations (jet-fire, pool-fire, UVCE, BLEVE), Calculation of the PFP (Passive Fire Protection). n Nuclear Installations : Fire risk management, Fire stability, Robustness of partitions (real fire condition scenarios). n Tunnels : Establishment of safety files, Fire resistance studies, Technical assistance. Smoke exhaust engineering of the Ecole Centrale of Lyon Collapse mode of a warehouse Fire risk management study of a nuclear installation EXPERTISE The Expertise department intervenes in any construction project by assessing the conformity of construction products and their application as regards the requirements of the different fire safety regulations. These studies enable fire resistance performances to be justified without appealing to another fire test. They can be linked to: n The degree of fire stability of the structures and their protection, n Fire resistance performance of doors, partitions, glazing, etc., n Resistance to external fire of facades (French C+D and IT 249 rules, visa de façade for high rise buildings), n Performances of smoke extraction systems, n Compliance with the requirements of the NF S 61-937 standards. In the context of specific projects, Efectis France supports the different actors (contractors, owners, installers, manufacturers, authorities) as a third party to take into account all the regulatory, technical, economic and architectural constraints. The aim is to certify the compliance of the proposed solutions to the regulatory requirements while ensuring an optimized solution and a better control of the costs and deadlines for the company. Our competence thus covers: n Diagnostics in the context of renovation work, n Technical assistance to the project management, n Regulatory studies, n French avis de chantier, n Calculations for situations of fire, n The issuance of visa façade (high rise buildings), n In-situ verifications in support of the Technical Controller. Curved partition

When a fire occurs, the consequences can be disastrous both economically and in human terms if fire safety is insufficient. Efectis France is the privileged partner for those involved in construction industry who have to officially justify the fire behaviour of their products, or to act in respect of fire safety regulations. 100 9000 employees tests performed 25000 official documents MARKETS & CLIENTS For all those involved in fire safety: n owners n contractors n companies And for those participating in the marketing process of fire» products: n developers n manufacturers n distributors n installers In the areas of traditional building construction (public buildings, high buildings, housing), transportation (maritime, railway), or hazardous industrial installations (nuclear, petrochemical, etc.).
