AGITATOR 20 120V INFORMATION & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT OPERATE THE MACHINE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ ALL SECTIONS OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS IMPROPER USE OF THE MACHINE WILL VOID THE WARRANTY 1. Always use a defoamer when foaming occurs to prevent vacuum motor damage. 2. Never use water with a temperature above 130 F / 54 C in the machine. 3. Keep machine from rain and snow, avoid extremes in temperatures, and store in a heated location. Use the machine indoors only. 4. Use approved chemicals only. NO SOLVENTS. 5. Wear gloves or use rags when removing quick disconnects to prevent burns. 6. Never leave the machine plugged in when you are not attending it. 06.04.2007

UNPACKING: Carefully unpack and inspect your Agitator-20 for shipping damage. Each machine is tested and inspected before shipping. Any shipping damage incurred is the responsibility of the carrier. You should notify the carrier immediately if you notice damage to the box or to the machine or parts. CLEANING SOLUTIONS: We recommend a neutral ph, low foam cleaner, applied to the carpet as a pre-spray. MAINTENANCE: After each job, rinse the recovery tank and dump hose with clear water. Clean both filters after each job. Lubricate the wheels and quick disconnects with an all purpose silicone spray, as needed. The vacuum motor may require new brushes after 1000-1500 hours. An impeller replacement kit for the dump pump is enclosed with these instructions: use the replacement kit when the dump pump performance falters. Clean the body with an all purpose detergent, and protect it with an automobile interior spray protectant. DO NOT OPERATE THE MACHINE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THIS SECTION. IMPROPER USE MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. IMPROPER USE WILL VOID THE WARRANTY. Always use a defoamer when foaming occurs to prevent vacuum motor damage. Never use water above 130 F (54 C). Do not store outdoors. Avoid extremes in temperature. Use approved chemicals only. All chemicals should be mixed thoroughly. A ph between 6 and 9 is recommended. The use of high alkaline detergents or strong acids will accelerate the wear of the seals, and will void the warranty. Carpet cleaning chemicals may affect bare floor finishes. Take precaution to keep chemicals from surfaces other than the carpet. All cords must have a rating of at least 12/3 (#12 cord). Replace the plug immediately if the ground prong becomes damaged or is broken off. Wear clean tennis shoes or non-slip shoes when working with a carpet extractor. Street shoes or rubber sole shoes will release absorbed dirt or grease, when wet, onto the carpet. Wet shoes can be a slipping hazard on bare floors -- be sure to dry your shoes before walking onto bare floors. Record the serial number and model of your new extractor here: (and be sure to mail your warranty card) Serial Number: Model: AGITATOR-20 Purchase Date: Write the name and phone number of your distributor:

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS This machine is only suitable for commercial use, for example in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops and offices other than normal residential housekeeping purposes. When using any electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: Read all instructions before using this appliance. WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury: Do not leave the machine when it is plugged in. Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before servicing. To avoid electric shock, do not expose to water/snow. Store and use indoors. Use only as described in this manual. Use only the manufacturer s recommended attachments. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If the machine is not working as it should be, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, return it to a service center. Do not pull or carry by the cord, use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Do not handle the plug, cord or machine with wet hands. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow. Keep loose clothing, hair, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes, or any health endangering dusts. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present. Turn off all controls before unplugging. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See Grounding Instructions. Liquid ejected at the spray nozzle could be dangerous as a result of its temperature, pressure or chemical content. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

120VAC GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This machine must be grounded. If it should electrically malfunction, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This machine is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. DANGER! Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the machine. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This machine is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in Figure 1 below. A temporary adapter illustrated in Figures 2 and 3 may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle as shown in Figure 2 if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet (Figure 1) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green-colored rigid ear or tab extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw. Grounding adapters are not approved for use in Canada. Replace the plug if the grounding pin is damaged or broken. The Green (or Green/Yellow) wire in the cord is the grounding wire. When replacing a plug, this wire must be attached to the grounding pin only. Extension cords connected to this machine should be 12 gauge, three-wire cords with three-prong plugs and outlets. DO NOT use extension cords more than 50 feet (15 m) long. PLEASE NOTE: FOR NORTH AMERICA ONLY

AGITATOR 20, 120V Switch and Indicator Panel Latch, cover Push Button D Connector and Swivel Snap-Hook Receptacle, power cord Fan 4 Wheel Recovery Tank, Filters Clear-vue cover Defoamer Tank Lid Inlet Water Hose QD Recovery Water Hose QD Vacuum Shoe Power On / Off Switch Indicator Lights Switch and Indicator Light Operation The Power ON/OFF switch on the front panel will supply power to all the systems, however, only the vacuum will turn on automatically with this switch. The Push Button on top of the back of the handle will activate the Agitator bar and the Spray. This button is positioned for ease of use when operating the machine. The Dump Pump will turn on and off during use as the sensor in the Recovery Tank detects the level of water. A sensor in the Recovery Tank will detect foam, when present, and activate a solenoid to allow defoamer to flow into the tank. The indicator lights on the panel will turn on when the associated function is operating.

OPERATION 1 Always use a vacuum cleaner on the carpet in the treatment area before using the Agitator-20. 2 Pre-treat spots, stains and heavy traffic areas before extraction. Consult your local distributor for procedures and/or chemical advice. NOTE: the Agitator-20. is intended to provide a clear water rinse and dirt extraction after application of a pre-spray; however, a chemical injection system is available, as an option, to add cleaning detergent to the Agitator-20 s solution line. 3 Set up the hoses: Unscrew the aerator from the sink faucet, if applicable, and screw the adaptor hose onto the threads on the faucet. Join the solution hose to the adaptor hose by connecting the quick disconnects. Place the drain hose securely into the sink drain. 4 Lay the hoses out, from the sink to the Agitator-20. Attach both the water supply hose and the drain hose to the machine. 5 Make sure there is defoamer in the defoamer bottle, if foam is present. 6 Turn on the water supply. Be sure not to use water above 130 F. 7 Plug the power cord from the Agitator-20. into a wall outlet. Use a GFCI protected outlet if possible. 8 Turn on the main power switch. NOTE: It is best to clean around the perimeter of the room at first, so you can get as close to the baseboard as possible. Use the right side of the machine against the wall for the best results. After the perimeter has been cleaned, start cleaning on one side of the room, and work your way across the room in over-lapping rows. 9 When cleaning with the Agitator-20. tilt the front of the machine up and off the carpet by pushing down on the handle, and move the machine forward across the carpet. Let the front of the machine down and pull backwards as you activate the spray and the agitator button. Let off the spray button about 12 before the end of the row so that the machine can recover all the spray that was put down. Let off the agitator button when you reach the end of the row. Tilt the front of the machine up and move the machine towards the top of the next row. Continue this way until the whole room or the entire area has been cleaned. 10 At the end of each job, follow these instructions to rinse out the recovery tank and hoses: move the machine near the sink. Leave it plugged in. Turn off the water faucet. Disconnect the solution hose from the faucet and set the end of the hose in the sink. Fill a bucket with water, open the lid to the recovery tank, and pour the water into the tank. Turn the dump pump on to send the rinse water and residual dirt through the dump hose and into the sink. Repeat until clean. When the rinsing is complete, leave the machine s main power switch on just long enough to pump all the water out of the machine and the hose. Turn off the main power switch, and unplug the power cord. Remove both the fabric pre-filter and the wire mesh filter, after each job, to clean and dry them. Reinstall the filters after cleaning. Disconnect the dump hose from the machine, and remove the adaptor from the faucet. Leave it laying in the sink. Reinstall the aerator onto the faucet, if it had been removed. From the machine end, coil up the hoses so any water remaining in them drains into the sink. Free the dump hose from the sink drain. Wipe down the hoses and the machine.
