We lost 2 very good members to illness, they will be greatly missed. We had a slower year call wise we ran 748 calls. We averaged 40 minutes on scene per each call. This is everything from EMS calls, Rope Rescue Calls, Auto Accidents, Special weather related calls to House fires. There are a few items I would like to Hi-Light from this past year. FEMA Grant, we got a FEMA grant this year in the amount of $56,000.00 to buy a new air compressor to fill our airpacks with and to help us out with our Tech Rescue calls. This project is a $40,000 project that we could have not done without the FEMA money. We also were given $ 16,000.00 for EMS/Tech Rescue suits for the members to wear instead of the turnout gear they have. This will possible help with the replacement of the turnout gear sooner than we should because it is getting ruined during these type calls. The total cost to the Department for these two items is $2,500.00 which is coming out of the current budget. We got a new forcible entry door prop for training. This prop was $6,500.00 and will help training the firefighters on proper ways to gain entry to homes and other commercial buildings when a key is not available to be used to get in. This will help us become proficient in these tasks which can make a difference on the scene as far as getting into extinguish a fire. We sent 4 firefighters to a Big Truck rescue class in Oswego to learn proper tactics on dealing with these types of incidents. There was heavy use of air lifting bags in this class. We bought one of them to put into service for our department. More are planned. We just boat a Fire/Rescue boat to put into service this spring. We will take delivery of it in May and have it ready for the season by June. The Fire Company is buying it for the department and has spent $25,000.00 on it. The boat will be able to rescue people from the lake or any lake in the county if called. It will also have a pump on it to fight fires on the lake or to perform drafting operations for a fire on shore. It will be a great asset to have in providing protection to the County and our district. We also bought two storage containers to be used for live fire training. This will help us train our firefighters in better fire ground attack tactics

2013 Call report break down: Fires: 33 which is 5% of the call volume Overpressure Rupture or Explosion: 8 which is.5% of the calls EMS: 440 which is 58% of the call volume Auto Accidents: 42 which is 5% of the call volume Search for Person: 2 which is.4% of the call volume High Angle Rope Rescue: 1 which is.1% of the call volume Hazardous Condition (no fire) 35 which is 5% of the call volume Service Calls: 62 which is 12.5% of the calls these are asst the public, pump cellars etc.. Good Intent Call: 42 which is 6.2% of the call volume these are canceled enroute, no incident found type calls False Alarm: 69 which is 5.2% of the call volume Special Incidents: 12 which are 2% of the call volume these are calls to set up LZ for the medical Helicopter Bomb Scare: 1 which is.1% of the call volume We had a 3:59 response time average for the year. This means from the time a 911 call is placed for help until we were on the scene it took us an average of 3:59 minutes. That may seem like a lot but it is not considering we have to get people from their homes or work to the station and get on the truck and get onto to the scene of the incident. That is pretty quick thinking of all the things the firefighters have to do just to respond to the scene of the call. We answered 87% of the calls within 5 minutes. We also had an average turn out for calls of 6 firefighters. This is for all calls this average includes EMS to House fires. On fire type calls we averaged 13 firefighters per incident. Total responding personal was 3,956 firefighters for all of the calls. Alarm Time Analysis for 2013: this is when the alarms come out for us to respond too. We had 8,313.75 fire fighter hours training this year. Some of the topics covered where Engine Company drill, Ladder Company drill, Auto Extrication, OSHA topics, Natural Gas and Propane emergencies, Power Line and Electrical Emergencies, SCBA skills and awareness, Drivers Training, Self Rescue Techniques, Railroad Safety, All EMS disciplines (monthly), Monthly Tech Rescue drill where we practice the disciplines of low and high angle rescue and repelling, confined space rescue, and shoring. 2013 Grand Am Event: Date: June 29 th July 1 st 2012 Special Event Detail Report for 2013 WGI Events: Resources Requested: 1 Engine Company, 1 squad, and 1 officer for command purposes Coverage: 12 hour coverage starting on Friday June 29 th and ending on Sunday July 1 st. Personnel Hours Per Shift: 84 hours Total Personnel Hours for Event: 300 hours 2013 Finger Lakes Wine Festival: Date: July 13 th July 15 th 2012 Resources Requested for Shift 0600-1800: 1 Engine Company, 3 squads, and full command staff Resources Requested for Shift 1800-0600: 1 Engine Company, 1 squad, and 1 officer for command purposes Coverage: 24 hour coverage starting on Friday July 13 th at 0600 and ending on Sunday July 15 th at 1800. We do many other Stand By events each year as a service to our community, this are events that the Firefighters will go to and set up at them to provide Fire and EMS coverage at them so that all the people attending get help in the event it is needed. We did 20 of them this past year below is a list of the ones we stood by at.
