Ensure that there is sufficient space around the unit. Ensure that all of the switches and dials are at the OFF / 0 position. Plug the unit into a wall socket and switch the wall socket ON. 8

USING THE GRILL This appliance has two heating elements. Which heating element(s) you use will depend on the type of food that you are cooking. To switch on the upper element, push the upper power switch to the ON position. To switch on the lower element, push the lower switch to the ON position. To switch on both elements at the same time, make sure both power switches are in the ON position. Please note that the removable pan handle should be used to remove the grill pan from the oven. Please do not leave the pan handle in the pan whilst using the grill as the intense heat will cause the handle to deform. Place the grill tray on the enamel grill pan. You may choose to use the grill tray with the grill pan in doing so, the tray will keep your foods lifted from the pan, enabling the pan to catch unwanted oils and fats it functions very much as a drip tray. Food should be placed on the grill tray or in the grill pan directly. Brush food with sauces or oil as desired. Insert the removable pan handle into the grill pan. Using the handle, slide the pan into the grill cavity. Ensure that food does not touch any of the elements. Press the appropriate power switch for each of the desired elements. You may use each independently or use them together. Note that the pilot indicator light will turn on for each power switch selected. For best results, it is recommended that you preheat the grill for 15 minutes. Brush food with sauces or oil as desired. Turn food over midway through the prescribed cooking time. When grilling is complete, turn the power switch/ switches to the OFF position, the pilot indicator light/s will turn off. Ensure that the appliance is completely turned off and unplugged after each use. NOTE: The pilot indicator light will light up when the heating element/s are switched on and will turn off when the heating element/s are switched off. 9

Basic Cooking Guideline: Grilling times in the table below should be used as a guideline. Different types of food vary in shape and texture the same is true for personal preference and taste. Always refer to the food packaging or recipe for cooking guidelines. Symbol (on unit) Food Type Heat Setting Approximate Cooking Time (in minutes) Kebabs/ Sosaties Switch on both the upper and lower elements. 8-10 Eggs Switch on only the lower element. 4 Hawaii Toast (slice of toast with ham, pineapple, cranberries and cheese) Switch on only the upper element. 6 Frozen Baguette Switch on only the upper element. 12-15 Frozen Pizza Switch on only the upper element. 12-15 10

Grilled Sausages Switch on both the upper and lower elements. 8-10 USING THE TOASTER Adjust the timing/ browning dial on the side of the unit to brown your toast to the desired level (from 60 seconds to 120 seconds). Place bread in the toasting slot and push the control lever down. Note: Bread may burn, so always monitor the cooking process. When the desired level of browning is achieved, the toast will automatically pop up and the device will automatically switch off. Important tips and notes: To stop toasting at any time, simply pull up the control lever. After each use of the toaster, allow it to cool for 60-90 seconds before using it again. Please keep in mind that the control lever engages only in the lower position when the plug is inserted into a mains power supply and the power supply is turned/ switched ON. When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness and freshness. The bread slices should not be too thick and too large, as they could become stuck in the toaster. Bread slices should not exceed 20mm in length. Old, dry or thin bread will cook faster than fresh or thick bread, so use a lower setting. For brown bread, the browning control must be set higher than when toasting white bread. Do not use torn, curled up, or misshapen slices of bread, as these may jam the ejection mechanism and could catch fire. 11

Sweet bread products (fruit loaf, etc.) brown much quicker than ordinary bread, so should be toasted on a lower setting. Should the control lever become jammed during the toasting cycle, do not attempt to release it. Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down before carefully removing the bread. Do not insert a knife, fork or similar sharp instrument into the toasting slot as these may damage the elements and present danger of electric shock. To remove a piece of bread which may have become stuck in the toasting slot - switch the appliance off and unplug it. Use a blunt stick (e.g. sosatie stick) to grab the piece of bread out from the toasting slot. Do not touch the heating elements and never use metal objects. IMPORTANT- During operation, the toasting slot must never be covered. Crumbs: Crumbs will collect in the base of the toaster. Letting them build up can cause a fire hazard so it is important to remove them frequently. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE This appliance is for household use only and is not user-serviceable. Do not open or change any parts by yourself. Please refer to a qualified electrical service department or return to the supplier if servicing is necessary. Always remember to unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Ensure that the grill elements are both in the OFF position and the toaster is OFF by means of the toaster control lever being lifted in the upper position. Always wait for the unit to cool down completely before cleaning. It is much easier to clean the accessories soon after they have been used. Wash them in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry well.
