BRIDGEWATER HALL, MANCHESTER The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester is a unique building, home to the Halle Orchestra. The multi-million pound project demanded refined aesthetics with outstanding technical performance and acoustics. Our specification was to supply curtains, tracking and blind systems for this complex and dramatic building. The complicated network of Astralux Guided Electric Rollers, Silent Gliss Electric Tracks and Contract Blinds had to be aesthetically pleasing and maintain the finely tuned acoustic balance ensuring the harmony and ambience of this most dynamic modern building. CELLNET, LEEDS This Call Centre has opening tilting windows and the most appropriate type of daylight control was the Astralux 2000 Venetian Blind System. The system included side guide wires and hold down brackets to cope with the pivoting windows. We also provided electric curtain tracks and self lined curtains to four meeting rooms. These tracks were 5m long to fit the specification given. MANCHESTER MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY Following meetings at Austin Smith Lord Architects, it was established that the client, Museum of Science and Industry, required an electrically operated dim-out facility for light-wells within their executive offices. Andrea Butter, from Austin Smith Lord Architects, selected us to specifically carry out this work. The Astralux 3000 Electric Roller Blind Systems fit this specification to control the environment for the ideal working atmosphere. We were also required to fit a number of Astralux 2000 wood slat Venetian Blind Systems to the curtain walling within each executive office. PRINCESS EXCHANGE, LEEDS This is a south facing building, which required a solution to glare and solar heat gain. The blinds were also required to compliment the expensive 3 million curtain walling system. There was a large area for the Astralux 2000 Venetian Blind System to cover. The slats on the Venetian Blinds were 25mm wide and had to cover an area of 6.0m2. The Astralux 2000 Venetian Blind system is the result of years of development and refinement resulting in a product specifically designed for high performance and durability. SCOTTISH ENTERPRISE GLASGOW This high specification new building was built by Sir Robert McAlpine. The Building is situated overlooking the River Clyde and on the edge of the Centre of Glasgow's thriving City Centre. We were brought on board at an early stage to discuss possible solar control solutions as the building has been designed to incorporate large areas of glazing. We recommended and eventually installed some 18 months later 430 nbr Astralux venetian blinds to the 7 floors of offices. The ground floor restaurant was fitted out with 56 Astralux 3000 motorised Roller blinds,linked to the building management system and the 7th floor boardroom had Astralux 2000 infrared remote controlled Venetian blinds.
