WARNING: This is not a sealed unit. Overflowing of hot oil may occur if incorrectly used. Please read the instruction book carefully before using. Do not overfill the oil container. Do not put heavily iced or wet food into the hot oil. CDF7S deep fat fryer

safety first This appliance is not to be used by children. Do not move the fryer when it is turned on or when it contains hot oil. allow to cool down. Dry foods as thoroughly as possible before lowering into the hot oil as water and frost on foods will result in high oil splattering during the cooking cycle. Your fryer is designed for domestic use only and should not be used for commercial purposes. Do not use on a soft or unsteady surface. Do not use your fryer under wall cupboards and keep away from curtains and similar fittings. Never leave the appliance unattended while in use. Do not use the unit in wet areas. Do not attempt to fry with butter, margarine or olive oil. Do not stand over the fryer during the frying cycle. There is a risk that you could be burned by splattering oil. Chip pan fires The two main causes of fryer fires are the oil overheats and catches fire spontaneously, or the oil spills over because either it has been filled past the MAX mark or the food inside is wet causing the oil to bubble up and overflow. If your deep fat fryer should catch fire: Raise the alarm to make sure that everyone in the household is aware of the fire. Call the Fire Brigade. Turn off the heat source to the pan, if it is safe to do so! Do not reach over the pan to get at the controls. Do not attempt to move the pan. Never put water anywhere near the fire! - the consequences could be disastrous. This type of fire is extinguished by placing a cover over the pan. This could be the lid, a fire blanket or a damp (not wet) tea towel. CONSIDER YOUR OWN SAFETY FIRST!

how to use your deep fat fryer 6. Put the food that you wish to fry into the basket. Ensure that the basket is not overloaded! Ensure that all ice is removed from frozen food! Ensure that all water has been thoroughly drained from your food before frying! 7. CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY, lower the basket with food using the handle only into the oil in the frying chamber bowl (be careful not to touch any metal parts of the fryer as they may be hot). Attach the lid onto the top of the fryer. NOTE: During frying you may hear slight clicking noises and you may see the temperature light going on and off several times. This indicates that the temperature is being maintained and is quite normal. Hot steam may also escape through the sides of the lid. This is also a normal occurrence.

how to use your deep fat fryer 8. The unit will stop heating when the timer has reached 0 minute.the unit will emit a ping when this happens. 9. Remove the lid using the handle on top (be careful not to touch any metal parts of the fryer as they may be hot). It may be advisable to wear oven mitts when removing the lid. 10. Lift the basket slowly out of the frying chamber bowl using the handle only and place on a suitable surface to allow any remaining oil to drain away. NOTES: Allow time for your fryer to heat up to the proper temperature again if you are frying more than one load. Let your fryer cool down completely (approx. 2 hours) before attempting to move it and always remove the plug from the socket when you have finished frying. AUTOMATIC SAFETY SWITCH The automatic safety switch ensures that the unit will not operate unless the control box has been inserted correctly onto the main unit. RESETTING THE SAFETY THERMOSTAT This will operate if excessive temperatures are reached, (normally due to using low levels of oil.) 1. Unplug the unit from the mains supply and allow time for the unit to cool down. Check the oil level, if it is below the minimum level, oil should be added before resetting the unit and resuming the cooking cycle. To reset the safety thermostat, remove the basket and control box from the chamber bowl. 2. Use a small screwdriver to press in the reset button which is sunk into the control box. Then reassemble the unit. If this continues to happen, stop using the unit and return to the store where the product was purchased.

maintenance Information on how to keep your fryer in the best working order. Filtering and changing the oil Make sure that the fryer is cooled down and unplugged. On average, oil can be used for 8 to 12 separate times before it will need to be changed. If you are frying fish or battered foods then you will need to change the oil more often. Filter the oil to get rid of any food that has fallen through the basket and into the fat. Cleaning Clean your fryer thoroughly after every use once your fryer has cooled down. See stage 2 in How to use you deep fat fryer for further details. Storing the oil Store the oil in an air tight container at room temperature away from heat and light sources. Cord Storage Wrap the cord loosely and place into the cord storage space in the control box. Storing the fryer Fold the handle of the basket back into the basket and replace the lid. The fryer can be stored in its box but do not store anything else on top of the box.
