ECOCLEAN for manual cleaning ECOCLEAN is an excellent cleaning and polishing emulsion for moulds, screws and extruding channels. It removes oxidations, pigments and material residues from your machine. Simply use ECOCLEAN from the bottle after shaking it up, pour it on a tissue and clean and polish the parts of the machine. ECOCLEAN can be very well used with copper wool or Clean N Strip or Scraper disc in discs or pads.

ECOCLEAN for automatic cleaning ECOCLEAN is a very effective cleaning and polishing emulsion for injection moulding and extruding machines. The process for optimal cleaning is very simple and easy to perform. Run the machine empty. Add ECOCLEAN to the plastic granulates which you are using right now. If you plan a change of colour or material you mix ECOCLEAN always with the new material. The liquid ECOCLEAN you mix with the plastic granulates. The mix hat to be dry, which means that there is no liquid ECOCLEAN left in the mix. As a general rule we recommend: _ cup of ECOCLEAN on 15 cups of granulates. This corresponds to ca. 3 % ECOCLEAN in the mixture. Remove the sieves. Keep the actual temperature in the head and nozzle etc. Avoid excess pressure in the machine. To clean the hot runner you have to increase the temperature in this area extremely. Reduce the screw speed to 50 % below its regular working speed. For your own safety please control the amperemeter on your machine. Introduce the ECOCLEAN-plastic-mixture in the machine and reduce the channel temperature slightly below the melting point. As soon there are no more pigment residues or dirt coming out of the machine, fill fresh granulate material into the hopper and run the machine till there are no traces of the cleaning mixture to be seen anymore. Clean carefully the hopper from all potential rests of the cleaning mixture. Bring the temperatures back to production condition. Your machine is now clean and ready for your production.

Screw diameter and cleaning mixture Screw diameter Mixture volume 20 40 mm 0,3 0,8 kg 40 50 mm 0,8 2,0 kg 50 60 mm 2,0 5,0 kg 60 80 mm 5,0 10,0 kg 80 100 mm 10,0 25,0 kg 100 120 mm 25,0 40,0 kg 120 150 mm 40,0 60,0 kg 150 175 mm 60,0 80,0 kg There are indications. If your machine is very dirty than a handcleaning may be necessary before going to the automatic cleaning which you can execute very well with ECOCLEAN. The advantage of the cleaning emulsion is the use of the granulate you have at hand. ECOCLEAN is very easy to use and reduces your costs in material and machine downtime.

ECOCLEAN Instructions Cleaning Procedure Injectionmoulding machines Cleaning Important: Run first the extruder empty! 1. Reduce temperature of screw by 10% to 15% compared to the opening temperature. 2. Keep operating temperature at the nozzle. Refer to the table in the ECOCLEAN-leaflet. 3. Separate mould from the screw and push the remaining plastic material out of the screw. 4. Shake the ECOCLEAN-bottle thoroughly like always. 5. Measure the appropriate quantity of plastic granulates to fill the barrel (s. table in ECOCLEAN-leaflet) and mix carefully with 3 % ECOCLEAN emulsion. 6. Reduce speed of screw to 50%. 7. Keep temperature in the mould at constant level. ATTENTION! In case you have a mould with hot runners you increase the temperature of the hot runners to the maximum, at least 10% above working temperature. 8. You feed the cleaning mixture (plastic granules plus ECOCLEAN) into the hopper and fill the barrel. Keep it for some minutes in the barrel then the screw will be clean. 9. Now you push out the cleaning mixture. It should come out grayish brown with scales. 10. In case you have removed the hot runner from the screw, you fix now the hot runner to the screw again, prepare a new cleaning mixture and push the mixture through the open hot runner out. Flushing 11. Adjust the temperature and speed of the screw to the appropriate level recommended for the fresh plastic material. 12. To clean the screw of the remaining cleaning mixture (granules plus ECOCLEAN) you push approximately 30% of the used mixture volume in new fresh plastic granules through the screw. ATTENTION! In the case of heavy dirty equipment you may have to repeat the cleaning process. In the case that you clean the screw with the mould attached you should increase the quantity of the cleaning mixture above the recommended quantity. In the case of a very dirty screw we recommend to let the mixture for 30 minutes in the screw. Then you continue with the cleaning.

Cleaning Procedure Extrusion machines Cleaning Important: Run first the extruder empty! 1. Reduce temperature of screw by 10% to 15% compared to the working temperature. 2. Separate mould from the screw and push out remaining material from the screw. 3. Shake the ECOCLEAN bottle thoroughly like always. 4. Measure the appropriate quantity of plastic granules (s. table in the ECOCLEAN leaflet) and mix carefully with 3% ECOCLEAN emulsion. 5. Reduce speed of the screw to 50%. 6. Remove set of sieves. Leave braker plate in the machine. ATTENTION! With sieves remaining in the machine you have to increase the temperature in the area of the braker plate by 10%. 7. Keep temperature in the head area at constant level. 8. Mix the appropriate quantity of granules to fill the barrel completely with 3% ECOCLEAN (s. table in ECOCLEAN leaflet!) 9. Pour the cleaning mixture in the hopper and push it through the machine plus the attached mould then the screw will be clean. Flushing 10. Adjust the temperature and speed of the screw to the fresh granules to be used. 11. To clean the screw of the remaining cleaning mixture (granules plus 3% ECOCLEAN) you push approximately 30% of the volume of the cleaning mixture in new and fresh granules without any ECOCLEAN through the screw. 12. Now the machine is clean and ready to be used again. ATTENTION! In the case of real dirty screw we recommend to let the cleaning mixture for 30 minutes in the screw. Then you continue with the cleaning.

Special cleaning procedures With the cleaning mixture you can clean as well without dismantling also nozzles, head and hot runners at the same time as the screw. For the application you have to respect that the temperature in the moulding area unlike the screw area has to be not 15% below working temperature but for the cleaning process has to be increased by 10% at least. By this old and remaining plastic particles will melt and by following material at lower temperature completely pushed out of the machine. At machines with degasing installation the cleaning mixture will be passed through the feeding area and pushed out of the machine by reduces temperature as normal. Then reduce temperature in the degasing area further down to 15º C. The remaining mixture you feed by force through the degasing opening into the machine and then push out of the machine, respectively extrude. For extreme plastic materials, like PSU or similar, which tend to stick to the screw and by high temperature, which can be at ca. 350-400º C, you prepare the cleaning mixture (for this you mix the ECOCLEAN with the remaining quantity of material which is the screw). Then you reduce the working temperature by 30% and push the material out of the screw, in order to disolve the remaining material in the screw. Next is to push PSU transparent alone or mixed with ECOCLEAN at the same conditions through the screw. Then you put the temperature back to normal level and smart producing. A high temperature variances e.g. from PE to PC or viceversa, you mix ECOCLEAN with the material in use and push through the machine by reducing the temperature by 20 to 30º C. After this you adjust the temperature to the future requested temperature. You mix the material to be used with ECOCLEAN and push out continuously. After this you start normal production. You recognise the effective cleaning temperature when looking at the pushed out material. It should be grayish/brown and look like scales coming. Burnt residues (e.g. of PVC soft) which cannot be removed or which show in the following material as black particles can be removed as follows: don t reduce temperature of the machine. Mix ECOCLEAN with PP which is operated at higher temperature. Remove nozzle and clean the nozzle manually. Push the cleaning mixture through the machine till PVC soft is completely removed. Than increase the temperature to 220º C and push mixture of PP and ECOCLEAN through the machine. Now you push 2 handful of PP without ECOCLEAN through the machine to make sure that the screw is completely free of the cleaning mixture. Next step is to adjust the temperature of the material planned to used in production. If you plan to use again PVC soft you adjust the temperature to 170 180º C and produce PVC soft as usually.

Surface treatment of nozzles, screws, tools etc. ECOCLEAN can be used in concentrated form to clean and polish dismantled tools. For this you apply ECOCLEAN manually with brush or fabric. Also for materials like copper, chromium etc. You can use ECOCLEAN on a piece of clean cloth without problems as polishing media. For the polishing of moulds which have turned blue by the oxidation of the plastic materials ECOCLEAN has shown good success.

Blowfilm and Blowform machines Cleaning Important: Run first the machine empty! 1. Be careful to reduce in the machine the temperature recommended for the granules in use by 10%. 2. Adjust the temperatures along the whole screw for the cleaning. 3. Keep the temperature at the nozzle at operating temperature. 4. If possible remove the fine wire sieves. 5. Control the temperature. 6. Reduce the screw speed by 50% if possible. 7. Mix your granules carefully with 3% ECOCLEAN. 8. Send cleaning mixture in the machine and keep it there for some minutes. 9. Control temperature to make sure that the cleaning mixture comes in scales out of the machine. Flushing 10. After the cleaning mixture has completely come out of the machine you flush the machine with fresh granules. Approximately 30% of the cleaning mixture quantity. 11. Adjust the temperature again to the operating conditions of the fresh granules. 12. Insert new wire sieves if you removed them. 13. Increase screw speed to normal. 14. Now your machine should be clean and ready for production.
