Crestron Shading Solutions Benefits Natural and Artificial Daylight Control Protect fine furnishings and floor coverings from harmful UV rays with intelligent shading solutions. Shades can track the rising and setting of the sun to prevent extra solar heat gain in the summer and utilize its warmth in the winter for added energy efficiency. Crestron shades can also work with an entertainment system to close shades and prevent glare on a TV when it is turned on, automatically creating the ideal viewing scenario. Security and Privacy Automated shades provide privacy and security. Shades allow natural light in with semi-translucent shades, or lower blackout shades to completely block views. In the event of a forced entry into a home, shades integrated with a security system can be raised automatically, allowing an intruder to be easily spotted from the outside. Comfort and Glare Control Open or close an entire wall of window treatments with the touch of a button. Presets can ensure the right amount of light is allowed in throughout the day, creating rooms that are always as cool, comfortable, and bright as desired. The presets allow the user to select the perfect lighting schemes for entertaining, relaxing, watching TV, or turning everything off. Quiet Shade Motors Crestron automated shades feature low-voltage Digital QMT shade motors, so all that is noticed is the ambiance of the room changing at a simple command. Crestron shades will help manage the daylight in any space without disrupting activities. 2 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

Selecting the Correct Shading Product for an Application This section includes information on how to select the correct shading product for an application whether it is a roller shade, Roman shade, or drapery track system. Roller Shades Sleek and elegant roller shades are a popular choice for their versatility and variety of styles. With silent QMT motors and the ability to hide rollers out of sight, this type of shade can be discreetly integrated into any décor. Create curtain walls by coupling up to six shades as a single group with one Crestron QMT motor, or choose larger tube and bracket sizes to accomodate more expansive windows. Dual roller shades can also deliver both light-filtering and blackout shades on the same window for multiple purposes within one room. Roller Shade Hardware Crestron offers several shade hardware brackets to suit all types of shading applications. Before selecting shading hardware, review the following information: How big is the window and how much room is there to install the hardware? { The QMT3 Series Architectural and QMT3 Series Décor hardware are used for windows up to approximately 8 ft (2.4 m) x 8 ft (2.4 m). The shade takes up approximately 3 in (76 mm) x 3 in (76 mm). { The QMT5 Series Architectural hardware and QMT5 Series Décor hardware are used for windows up to approximately 15 ft (4.6 m) x 15 ft (4.6 m). The bracket takes up approximately 4.5 in (114 mm) x 4.5 in (114 mm). Décor brackets are designed to be exposed and have decorative end cap covers that can be color coordinated with the room. Architectural brackets are designed to be hidden or covered. They are installed inside a pocket or concealed with fascia. QMT3 Series and QMT5 Series Décor and Architectural kits are available to upgrade manual shades to motorized shades. For information on upgrading a manual shade to a motorized shade, refer to the CS-SHADE-ROLLER-MANUAL-MOTOR-UPGRD Installation Guide (Doc. 7931) at www.crestron.manuals. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 7

Roman Shades Roman shades reduce or block out sunlight. The bold look of Roman shades can make them a focal point in a room. Crestron Roman shade systems offer quiet, one-touch control from a wall-mounted interactive keypad, touch screen, or mobile device. To order Roman shades from Crestron, purchase the appropriate Crestron Roman Shade Kit and provide it to a local workroom to fabricate the final Roman shade with the preferred fabric, or contact the Crestron Shade Support Team at 1-855-53-SHADE (1-855-537-4233), or email shades@crestron.com to purchase a fully fabricated Roman shade. Drapery Track Systems Draperies add a soft, graceful touch to a décor. Crestron drapery track systems provide elegant and convenient control. Choose pinch pleat or Ripplefold drapery styles on straight or curved tracks using Crestron drapery motors. Details such as motor arm and draw styles can be configured. Touch-sensitive controls, adjustable speed settings, and soft starts and stops, add an element of dramatic motion to the window treatments. Refer to the "Drapery Track Systems" on page 18 for more detailed information on drapery track systems. 10 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

Measuring Based on the Type of System Installed This section includes measuring instructions for roller shades, Roman shades, and drapery track systems. Roller Shade Measuring Information When measuring roller shades, take the final measurements after all window casing, pockets, and the sill are installed and all window hardware and obstructions are taken into consideration. The industry standard for measuring a roller shade is always width by height. There are two different ways to mount a roller shade, either on the outside of the window or on the inside of the window. Different mounting styles require different measurements to be taken. Refer to the examples below for more details. Inside Mount Shade Examples 36 in (914 mm) In the inside mount example, the window opening is 36 in (915 mm). For an inside mount, the most important measurement is the bracket to bracket width. Outside Mount Shade Examples 42 in (1,067 mm) In the outside mount example, the overall window size is 42 in (1,067 mm). For an outside mount, the most important dimension is the fabric width. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 11

Single Roller, In-Line Coupled, and Roman Shade Measuring Information To determine single roller, in-line coupled, and Roman shades measurements, refer to the information below. A Outside Mount Shade D A Outside Mount B2B Inside Mount Shade B Shade Height C Total Width D Inside Mount B2B E Jamb Depth F Inner Height B E F C When measuring for single roller, in-line coupled, or Roman shade, do the following: Inspect the window and the area around the window for obstructions sticking out (knobs, sills, etc.) that may prevent the smooth travel of the shade. Verify the frame, sill, and header are level, and then measure all designations. The most important thing to do is to measure where the brackets will be mounted. For outside mount shades, measure the total width and indicate if the dimension is the total (fabric) width (C) or the outside mount B2B width (A). Measure the shade height (B) and be sure to measure the left, center, and right window heights, and then enter the smallest value. For inside mount shades, measure the inside mount B2B (D) and then measure the inner height (F). When placing an order for an inside mount shade in CDT, the user will be asked if Crestron should adjust the bracket-to-bracket measurement. If Yes is selected, an 1/8 in deduction will be made on all roller shades that were specified as inside mount. For Roman shades, provide pleat type, front and rear controls, board size, lining, etc. Contact the Shade Support Team at 1-855-53 SHADE (1-855-537-4233) or email shades@crestron.com to provide any addtional information that may be needed. For more information, refer to the Shade Measuring Worksheet: Single Roller and In-Line Coupled Shades (Doc 7925) on the Crestron website Pro Panel. 12 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

Angled Coupled Shade Measuring Information To determine angled coupled shade measurements, refer to the information below. B2 B1 θ1 θ2 Figure 1 B3 B2B2 B2B1 B2B3 A Figure 2 When measuring for an angled coupled shade, do the following: Check each window frame for level and plumb. Check that the surface is flat before measuring angles. Inspect the window and the area around the window for obstructions (knobs, sills, etc.) that may prevent the smooth travel of the shade. If the brackets are not installed, the shade width (B) and inside angle (θ) must be provided (see Figure 1). If brackets are installed, only the bracket to bracket (B2B) dimensions are required. Measure to the outside of the brackets (see Figure 2). Angled coupled shades are not configurable with any top treatments (fascia, pocket, etc.). A custom-built pocket is suggested to have a (5 in depth x 6 in height) minimum inside dimension for the custom pocket. Angled coupled shades are not intended for use with blackout accessories. For more information, refer to the Shade Measuring Worksheet: Angled Coupled Shades (Doc 7924) on the Crestron website Pro Panel. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 13

Drapery Track System Measuring Information The illustration below shows the top view and front view of a ceiling mounted drapery track. The illustrations contain the dimensions that the installer should consider when measuring a window for a drapery track system. Refer to the information below when measuring for a drapery track system: Crestron Shading Solutions Design Guide Measure the width of where the drapery track system will be mounted (top of window). Measure the length of the drapery track. The track must be centered in a space at a minimum of 4.5 in (114 mm) wide in order for the drapery to move freely. Consider the drapery stackback when measuring for a drapery track system. Drapery stackback is the amount of wall space that is needed for the drapery fabric on one or both sides of a window. If the track cannot be extended, it is important to let the customer know how much of the window will be covered by stackback. For a drapery track that measures greater than 20 ft (6 m) in length, a splice is required. A splice is when one long track is broken up into two or more shorter tracks. For more information on drapery track splicing, refer to the "Drapery Track Splicing" section on page "21". If using an asymmetric draw drapery track, consider the drapery track location. An asymmetric draw is when the drapery is wider on one side. For more information, refer to the "Drapery Track Draw Styles" section on page "19". If a curved or bent drapery track is to be used, refer to "Curved and Bent Drapery Tracks" section on page "20" and the CSA-DRAPERY-TEMPLATE-KIT Instruction Guide (Doc. 7821) at www.crestron.manuals for more information. For more information, refer to the Shade Measuring Worksheet: Drapery System (Doc. 7922) on the Crestron website Pro Panel. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 15

Crestron Shading Solutions Design Guide Roller Shade Hem Bar Styles and Fabric Selection Hem Bar Styles The hem bar on a roller shade provides weight for the fabric to move up and down smoothly on the tube. Crestron offers three design options: open pocket, sealed pocket, and exposed blackout. Open Pocket (without End Caps) Open Pocket (with End Caps) The open pocket hem bar is available with or without end caps. Open pocket hem bars have an opening at each end. Hem bars are taped inside the pocket to prevent any movement of the hem bar in the field and to allow for a straight hang of the fabric. Hem bars provide a finished look to the ends of the shade fabric. End caps may be requested when ordering a shade with an open pocket hem bar. Hem bar end caps are available in black, brown, almond, white, or gray. Note that the color of the end caps is automatically selected in CDT to match the shade fabric. Before using the shade, be sure the hem bar and end caps are properly installed. Sealed Pocket Exposed Blackout Sealed pocket hem bars (also referred to as closed pocket) enclose the weighted hem bars. Sealed pockets are the preferred type of pocket in commercial applications. Exposed blackout hem bars block light from leaking in through the bottom of the window, putting the final touch on blackout shading systems. The exposed blackout hem bar is available in black, brown, almond, white, or gray. 16 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

Fabric Types Crestron offers three fabric types: sheer, translucent, and blackout. Sheer Translucent Blackout Sheer fabrics (also known as transparent) transmit light so that objects or images are seen through the weave. These fabrics provide solar protection, natural light, glare control, and reduction in solar heat gain. Translucent fabrics transmit diffused light, eliminating the perception of distinct images. These fabrics provide solar protection, natural light, glare control, and reduction in solar heat gain. Blackout fabrics provide advanced light blockage and privacy. These fabrics provide a dramatic reduction in solar heat gain and eliminate glare. Openness Factor A roller shade fabric is woven together with fine threads or yarns. The openness factor of a fabric is the ratio of open space to fabric material in a weave. The openness factor dictates the amount of UV ray blockage. The lower the openness factor the more UV ray blockage. For example, a shade with an openness factor of 14% lets in more light than a shade with a 5% openness factor. Fenestration Data Fenestration data is used by designers to assist them when choosing a fabric. Fenestration data includes the following: Solar transmittance (Ts), solor reflectance (Rs), and solor absorbance (As) indicate how much energy from the sun is reflected, absorbed, or passed through the material. The total value for the (Ts), (Rs), and (As) will always be 100. The visible transmittance (Tv) indicates the amount of glare that is perceived by the user. Crestron offers fabrics that may have one or more of the following qualities: certified environmentally safe, recyclable and eco-friendly, mold- and bacteria-resistant, PVC-free, lead-free, and fire-retardant. Drapery Track Systems Determining the Proper Drapery Track System Every drapery track system has a draw configuration and arm style. Draw configuration refers to the point or points on the track where the draperies can be opened. Fabric can be parted in left, right, center, asymmetric draw, or in a multiple draw for spaces that require more than one opening. The master carrier arms bring the drapery fabric panels together. The draw configuration, track style, and fabric pleat help determine the master carrier arm style for a particular drapery track system. Depending on their individual characteristics, drapery fabrics are pleated into one of several styles. The pinch pleat, and Ripplefold drapery styles are both supported by Crestron drapery track systems. The carriers from which the draperies hang attach to the fabric in patterns specifically designed to flatter the pleat style. The master carrier arm is also designed to complement the pleat style and draw configuration. For example, center-draw draperies with a pinch pleat often use an overlap arm where the fabric meets for an illusion of continuity when in the closed position. Ripplefold draperies with a center draw achieve a different aesthetic with arms that butt up against one another when the draperies are closed. NOTE: To cover windows wider than 32 ft (9.8 m), specify two tracks. Drapery Track System Mounting Options Drapery track system hardware can be mounted to a ceiling, on a wall, or inside a custom pocket (built by the customer). For ceiling mounts, the track can be mounted using cam-lock mounting brackets, which contain a handle that rotates to secure the track into the ceiling. The track can also be mounted directly on the ceiling with screws. For wall mounts, adjustable L brackets facilitate installation of the drapery track system. The drapery bracket can be adjusted after installation in front-mounted installations, ensuring mounting precision by allowing the installer to make changes without having to remove and reinstall the entire bracket. For pocket mounts, the drapery track system can be mounted inside a pocket via cam-lock mounting brackets, screws, or L brackets. Pocket mounts are useful in concealing the drapery track motor, rail, and other hardware. Drapery Track Ceiling Mount Example 18 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

Drapery Track Wall Mount Example Drapery Track Draw Styles Drapery track draw styles are available for almost any application or room shape. The draw configuration refers to the point or points on the track where the draperies can be opened. Straight track configurations include asymmetric draw, left draw, right draw, and center draw. Asymmetric Draw Left Draw Right Draw Center Draw NOTE: The asymmetric draw (where the drapery is wider on one side) may be more appropriate for a window that is not centered on the wall. This draw style will only fully open for the shorter distance of travel between the master carrier and the end of the track. The multiple draw may be more appropriate for one long track that is used for two individual window openings. Dual Drapery Tracks Dual track drapery systems create the opportunity for different light conditions within a space. One track can carry a light, sheer drapery fabric to allow filtered light into the room while the other track holds a heavier, darker fabric for room darkening conditions. Each track has its own controls, affording versatility to any dual track application. Minimum spacing between dual tracks is 4.5 in (114 mm) center to center. For more information on dual drapery tracks, refer to the CSS-DRAPERY Installation Guide (Doc 7834) at www.crestron.manuals. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 19

Curved and Bent Drapery Tracks In addition to the straight drapery tracks, Crestron offers curved and bent drapery tracks that can be installed in a bay window, a curved window, a curved wall, and for other applications where a bent or curved track is needed. Custom bends are also available. Curved 45 Bend The curved drapery track has a minimum arc radius of 10 ft (3 m). Splices are not recommended on a curved track. A standard curved track can be built in lengths up to 20 ft (6 m). The 45 bend drapery track has a minimum bend radius of 19 in (483 mm). Drapery tracks are to be mounted at a 3.5 in (89 mm) minimum distance from the wall. 90 Bend 90 Double Bend The 90 bend drapery track has a minimum bend radius of 19 in (483 mm). The 90 double bend drapery track has a minimum bend radius of 19 in (483 mm). Double bend tracks may incorporate a splice along the middle section for ease of shipping. 20 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades

45 Double Bend S Curve The 45 double bend drapery track has a minimum bend radius of 19 in (483 m). The S Curve drapery tracks can be made only by splicing two bends together and must have a straight section at each end of the curves where they meet in order to place the splice. Crestron recommends a minimum of 10 in (254 mm) of straight track before a splice. The minimum radius for a continuous curve is 10 ft (3 m). Templates are required for all nonstandard bent drapery tracks, and are suggested for standard 45 and 90 bends. For information on drapery track templates, refer to the CSA-DRAPERY-TEMPLATE-KIT Instruction Guide (Doc 7821) at www.crestron.manuals. Drapery Track Splicing Track splicing provides a convenient solution for the shipment and installation of drapery tracks that are longer in length. A drapery track can be made up to 32 ft (9.8 m) in length with a splice joint. Crestron offers track splicing on shorter tracks as a convenient shipment solution. Drapery systems with spliced tracks are shipped in multiple sections and then reassembled at the installation site using a splice bar. Drapery Track Splicing Rules: No more than two splices should be used on one track length. Splices can only be made along straight sections. A minimum of 10 in (254 mm) of straight section is required on both sides of a splice on any curved or bent sections of a track. The recommended splice location for center and asymmetric draw is at the draw location. The recommended splice location for a one-way draw is furthest away from the motor. The maximum drapery track length is 32 ft (9.8 m) with splices. The maximum drapery track length without a splice is 20 ft (6 m). NOTE: Splices may cause a slight click as the carriers travel across the gap in the track. For more information on drapery track splicing, refer to the CSS-DRAPERY Installation Guide (Doc 7834) at www.crestron.manuals. Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades 21

Pinch Pleat and Ripplefold Drapery Styles The pinch pleat style has a pleated look created by a pinched, consistent gathering of fabric at the top of the drapery panel. The pin-on hooks, inserted into the back of the pleats, hang from the carriers on the drapery track. The Ripplefold style uses snap tape sewn directly on the back of the drapery panel. The drapery panel snaps directly to the carriers on the drapery track. Snap carriers are available in 80%, 100%, or 120% fullness. The distance between the carriers strung together defines the fullness. Wiring and Power Crestron offers a plug-in power supply for a single shade or drapery. An intelligent power supply delivers several advantages for shading professionals. It can power up to ten motorized shades or draperies, each with its own fuse. The power supply is designed to work with all Crestron shade motors and includes built-in diagnostics that make it easy for shading professionals to identify broken wires, shorts, and blown fuses. CSA-PWS40 The CSA-PWS40 can provide local power for one Crestron roller shade or drapery system motor via a direct connection to the motor s pigtail. This is especially useful in situations where an infinet EX wireless network is employed. For more information, refer to the CSA-PWS40 product page on the Crestron website. CSA-PWS10S-HUB-ENET The CSA-PWS10S-HUB-ENET power supply powers up to ten Crestron roller shades or drapery systems. This power supply features an Ethernet to Cresnet bridge and a built-in, 5-segment Cresnet hub. The embedded Ethernet to Cresnet bridge provides the flexibility necessary for a multitude of installation configurations with high-speed communications. The integrated five-segment Cresnet hub provides an isolated control network for each pair of shades, therefore limiting the impact of any wiring faults. Up to six hubs may be daisy-chained to a master. As more hubs are daisy-chained to a master the latency increases. The CSA-PWS-TBLOCK is a terminal block for the CSA-PWS10S-HUB-ENET. The terminal block mounts in a CAEN enclosure to provide for termination of the AC line power feeding one or more shade power supplies. CSA-PWS10S-HUB-ENET CSA-PWS-TBLOCK For more information, refer to the CSA-PWS10S-HUB-ENET and CSA-PWS-TBLOCK product pages on the Crestron website. 52 Doc. 7920A crestron.com/shades
