Our History The Advantages of Emile Henry s HR ceramic Our dishes have always been produced in France, in Marcigny in the south of Burgundy: it is a tradition and savoir-faire which has been handed down from generation to generation. Each worker prepares his molds, produces his dishes and signs each one with his initials. We are proud of this responsibility entrusted to each of our workers, which is a pledge of quality for all our production. Adapted to professional use. The colors remain bright. 1850 Jacques Henry, potter, set up a small workshop in Marcigny, Burgundy, following a tour of France to learn the trade. The high quality clay in the area enabled him to produce dishes, jugs and even flower pots, which he sold locally. 1880-1950 Paul took over his father s workshop, and passed it on to his son Emile at the turn of the century. Production techniques improved, business opportunities diversified and he kept the company going through two world wars and the crisis of 1929 these eventful times served to reinforce the identity and values of our brand. 1950-2010 The company continued to modernize its production, and with Maurice in charge, the number of workers grew to 200. In 1983, Jacques took over from his father. He supervised the growth of the Emile Henry brand overseas and created an in-house laboratory which developed several major innovations, such as our Flame ceramic in 2005. Proud of the unique savoir-faire, the capacity to innovate and the values of the company, his aim is for the brand to become rooted in the ideas behind it: humane, elegant and joyful. At a time when the internet is very strong, and exports are growing in developing countries, he is determined to keep the entire production in Marcigny, where everything began over 160 years ago. 400 mm The exclusive production process of the HR ceramic offers an excellent resistance to industrial detergents and dishwashers, beyond the recommended 2000 cycles. Cadmium, nickel and lead-free, our dishes guarantee safe and natural cooking. The high level of quality at Emile Henry relies on our determination to adapt and develop our products to new culinary habits. Our in-house laboratory enables us to keep ahead of technological progress and to adapt our ceramic to offer consumers the best culinary ceramic available. Controlled production, without waste, is part of our daily commitment: the CO 2 expelled from our workshops is particularly low thanks to our modern firing techniques that require less energy. The waste in general is recycled and the water used in production is filtered and used again in the production process. The long lifetime of the Gastron range is also due to the design and mechanical resistance of the base. It resists a steel ball dropped repeatedly from 400 mm high. terracotta blue flame burgundy Your choice of color to enhance and personalize your service. Look who uses Emile Henry Designed specifically for the buffet, American chefs are upgrading to Emile Henry's Gastron Colletion, According to Nicholas Calias, C.E.C., Director of F&B Operations/Corporate Executive Chef at The Colonnade Hotel & Brasserie Jo, in Boston, the Emile Henry Gastron dishes are dependable and don t chip. I selected these dishes to replace our basic hotel pans because of their sleek look, durability and heat confinement. "The design and style is perfect for today s contemporary food and presentations. Quality and durability is as good as he has found anywhere. Many of the styles of plates and vessels differentiate from our cuisine competitors. Sometimes it is not so much the cuisine, but the dish it s put on." - Chef Banks 10 11
