"We also chose to paint the walls white to make colours pop." In her home town of Sydney, Hannah Blackmore is living a creative life. Marrying her passion for interior design with a love of photography she has managed to establish one very successful career. Hannah's stunning Sydney home is testament to her talent for styling and shows an innate eye for interiors that extends far and beyond her profession as a photographer. According to Hannah the home she shares with her fiancé and two pups is a classic three bedroom Victorian Terrace that was built in 1880. "We've been living here for about a year and a half and in that time have completed a few renovations - namely a new kitchen, bathroom and backyard that we we've transformed from a dark space into a functional entertainment deck that we use all the time." While Hannah has seen her fair share of beautiful homes in her job she would have to say that there is no definable secret to successful interiors but rather an ability or sixth sense for making the most of what you have. "Our house is Heritage Listed, and as you'd imagine, living in such an old house comes with many obstacles, but through embracing them, we've managed to create great living and entertaining spaces that we love; a beautiful light kitchen, little garden and an office that is inspiring and cosy." As a photographer, it is not surprising that Hannah is keen on light drenched spaces. "I love natural light, and we've maximised the amount we get by including skylights in darker areas and an atrium-style window in our kitchen area. We also chose to paint the walls white to make colours pop." "As cliché as this sounds, I'm a firm believer that less is more. I've maintained a minimal feel throughout our home by choosing pieces I love and making them the hero. I feel that too many furnishings and home wares can easily create clutter something I avoid." While Hannah is very happy with her home in its current form she says the styling is always evolving. In my opinion, styling a home is always a work in progress. I'm always on the lookout for new homewares and furniture. There's so many great things out there, it s too hard to say no to all of them!" 94 95
Pops of colour Hannah Blackmore is not just a talent behind the lens, she is also artistic with paint. The simplicity of white walls was chosen to make colour pop in her Sydney home as shown here by the effect of her artwork. 96 97
Cosy study "Seeing as I spend hours in my home office it's somewhere that needs to be inspiring and cosy - it's full of my favourite candles, beautiful books and a mood board with photos I love," explains Hannah. 98
