Affordable fire suppression solutions
Fire Knock Out Cost Effective Automatic Fire Suppression Simple, Safe, Highly effective. The Fire Knock Out - the new way to provide automatic fire suppression across a huge range of budget conscious applications, where you feel that you cannot justify spending 1000s on fire suppression Have you ever wanted to have the added safety, security and peace of mind that an automatic fire fighting system brings but just haven t had the budget for it? Enter the Fire Knock Out. It s a fire fighting revolution, and a game changer in providing automatic fire protection across a wide range of budget conscious applications. It s compact, highly affordable and will never require a maintenance visit from a professional service engineer in all of its 5 year lifetime, saving you even more money! Better still, it s virtually entirely fault proof as it will only ever activate in direct contact with a naked flame. This means there isn t any chance of a false alarm setting off your systems, causing business downtime and all the subsequent expense of cleaning up afterwards and refilling the units.
Fire Knock Out - The concept explained The Fire Knock out is as simple, standalone and maintenance free method of protecting your valuable assets from the ever present risk of fire. It highly affordable, simple to install and has virtually no cost of ownership - a stark contrast to almost every other type of fire suppression solution. It can be used to protect almost any type of fire risk (although it s at it s best in a confined area) - when used as a fire suppression device it is installed within the risk area, waiting and ready in case fire should strike. It s ideal for protecting engine bays and other high risk areas, where a fire can start off small but if left unaddressed can swiftly develop into a raging inferno. Alternatively, the FKO can also be used as a means for actively fighting a live fire by tossing it into the flames from a safe distance - vastly reducing the danger you may be exposed to if you should attempt to fight the fire using a conventional fire extinguisher. Stand-alone Automatic Fire Protection The Fire Knock Out is suitable for a range of different applications - both sizes available (1.6kg and 5.6kg) can be used as static units and hung in areas of high fire risk, protecting you 24/7 for the next 5 years! Both units are very compact a pack a punch above their size, making them idea for areas where there is limited space to install the device. The fire knock out performs at it s optimum in confined areas, so whether you need to protect the engine bays or other key fire risks in your valuable plant machinery, marine vessel, sports car or have some item of equipment that needs an automatic protection solution, the fire knock out is a perfect and highly cost effective solution to your requirements. Portable Fire Fighting Unit for Professional Use The 5.6kg model has been developed with the profession user in mind as an active fire fighting device - a much safer option than approaching a fire with a standard fire extinguisher. This model is ideal for the emergency services (or other trained users) and comes with a built in handle, as seen on the picture on the right - all you need to do is throw the unit into the fire from a safe distance and stand back! This method of firefighting has very significant benefits over trying to tackle a fire in an enclosed space when compared to a fire extinguisher - to deal with a fire in the tooling compartment of a shredder or in a waste bin etc you have to go close to the fire itself to be able to direct the extinguisher in the correct place - now you can just throw and go, allowing the FKO to tackle the fire.
How does the Fire Knock Out Work? The Sequence of Events The plastic container is filled with a special fire fighting liquid and triggering powder to which a fast fuse is attached. The entire sequence of events below happens in just a few seconds! 1. The fire comes in contact with the FKO, activating the fast burning fuse. 2. Within a second, the charge is activated. The container bursts open, spraying it s contents out onto the protected area. As a result of the activation and the air being filled with the water mist, the oxygen around the fire is momentarily depleted - breaking the fire cycle and fighting the fire instantaneously. The liquid in the extinguisher is broken into tiny droplets, increasing it s surface area and swiftly drawing the heat away from the fire. 3. At the same time the buffer compound in the extinguisher works to reduce the chances of the fire re-igniting are removed to a minimum. 4. The fire is extinguished. As with any suppression system, you should have a portable fire extinguisher close at hand after activation to help ensure re-ignition does not occur.
Fire Knock Out - The Benefits Cost-effective and highly reliable Automatic Fire Protection, giving you peace of mind 24/7. The fire knock out is virtually immune to the risk of false activations as it is only set off by a naked flame, as opposed to other systems that are activated on heat. The fire knock out is very robust and largely unaffected by external conditions - this makes it suitable even for very harsh environments. 5 year guarantee, which makes the FKO uniquely cost-effective. Virtually maintenance free, saving you hassle, time and money. The only maintenance required is a monthly inspection (which you carry out yourself) to ensure it is still undamaged and in good condition - much like the monthly inspection you should carry out on all your fire extinguishers. The buffer compound in the extinguishing agent helps to ensure that the fire doesn't break out again. The FKO is a very versatile solution that can fight a wide range of fire types. The fire is fought immediately on activation, leaving you to retreat to a safe distance from the fire and smoke plume. If you re trying to tackle a fire using an extinguisher, you have to continue to stand near the danger zone - always remember that smoke inhalation causes more deaths than fire itself. Fire extinguishers should only be used by trained individuals and even then, only when you re confident that it s safe to do so. The Fire Knock Out can be used both as a passive protection solution and as an active fire fighting tool - giving you an extra dimension of versatility and enabling you to fight fire from a safe distance. When used as an active fire fighting unit, you can tackle the source of the fire simply by tossing the fire knock out into the centre of the flames. Delivering the extinguishing agent so close to the source of the fire is often not possible when using a fire extinguisher due to the extreme heat and personal danger involved.
Fire Knock Out Installation examples & Applications JCB Loading Shovel On this machine we installed two 1.6kg Fire Knock Out units on opposite sides and ends of the engine bay. As you can see in the photos on the right, the first unit is mounted beside some of the key fire risks directly behind the driver s cab. The second unit is mounted at the back of the engine bay, very close to the engine itself. Both units are in ideal positions to activate quickly in the event of a fire, protecting this valuable piece of machinery. JCB Excavator On this machine we installed three 1.6kg Fire Knock Out units, protecting individual key fire risks within the machine. The first unit was mounted in the engine bay (as see in the top right picture), while the second was installed above the batteries on the other side of the engine bay. These ageing batteries are a fire risk in themselves. Finally, the third unit was mounted in the hydraulics area on the far side of the drivers cab to protect against the ever present risk of a hydraulic oil fire.
Fire Knock Out Installation examples & Applications Continued. Sennebogen Materials Handler On this large machine we installed four Fire Knock Out units, protecting the electrical related and and mechanical fire risks on the machine. Three of the units are installed down one side of the machine, protecting the engine and hydraulic compartment. The last unit is installed on the opposite side of the machine to protect the fire risks around the electrical components (as seen in the bottom right image). Doppstadt SM620 Screener On this machine we installed five 1.6kg Fire Knock Out units, protecting the long engine and hydraulics area as well as the fuel tank which was positioned in a separate compartment on the screener. Three of the units were mounted above the engine and hydraulics, positioned directly above the fire risks within. The other two units were mounted above the large fuel tank on the opposite side of the machine.
