PRSRT STD U.S. POSTAGE PAID ADDISON, IL PERMIT NO. 91 Expanded Recycling Program! See page 2 for details. Village of Gurnee Solid Waste & Recycling Collection Guide 1411 OPUS PLACE DOWNERS GROVE, IL 60515 CUSTOMER SERVICE 800-796-9696 www.wm.com

The Village of Gurnee provides a comprehensive solid waste program designed to encourage recycling and waste reduction, reduce litter in our neighborhoods and ensure that waste is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. This guide includes various services that are available to Gurnee residents. Waste Management pledges to continue the same high quality service we have provided in the past. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at 800-796-9696 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Expanded Recycling Program! You can now contact Waste Management to receive one 96-gallon cart on wheels for your recyclables at no extra charge. You can also reduce the size of your trash cart for a reduced rate on trash collection. This is part of an effort to increase recycling in Gurnee. Waste Management has integrated the latest sorting technologies in many of our facilities, enabling us to provide singlestream recycling, which allows customers to mix recyclable paper, plastic and glass in one cart. Please see pages 6-7 for Lake County s Curbside Recycling Guidelines to find out details about what you can recycle. Additional 96-gallon recycle carts are available for an added monthly charge. For more details, please contact Waste Management s Customer Service at 800-796-9696 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Disposing of Latex Paint Latex paint is not accepted at HCW collection events. For a small fee, Earth Paints Collection Systems will recycle your latex paint and can, producing new products. They have drop-off locations around the region Please contact them at (847) 231-6044 to find the nearest location. Visit SWALCO.org for ideas on how to reuse leftover paint. If you cannot find other alternatives, you can take the lids off the paint cans, add an absorbent such as kitty litter, sand, Oil-Dry or shredded paper, and when the liquid paint is absorbed, leave the lids off the paint cans and dispose in your regular waste (not recycling) for pick-up. PLEASE RETAIN THIS BROCHURE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE General Guidelines All solid waste materials must be placed out at the curb for collection by 6:00 a.m. the day of your scheduled collection, but not before 5:00 p.m. the day before your pick-up. Please keep in mind that separate trucks pick up trash, recycling and yard waste, so each of these materials may be picked up at different times of the day. Garbage and recycling should be separated by the drive and at least 5 feet from stationary objects (mailboxes, basketball hoops, vehicles, etc.). Carts should be placed handle toward house, along the curb. All containers and any solid waste materials that are not collected must be removed from the curb by 8:00 a.m. the day after your scheduled collection. Provided carts are the property of Waste Management and are not to be removed from the property. Village of Gurnee 325 N.
