Alvar Aalto Alvar Aalto was a Finnish architect and designer. Invented laminated plywood that would allow wood to be bent. He is the first person to use cantilever principle in wood furniture. His major furniture design is Paimio Chair designed for Paimio sanatorium.

Alessandro Mendini Italian designer who believed in mixing different cultures and different forms of expression. Vivid color and elegant decorations were used. Furniture were considered as a work of art apart from its function. Introduced the concept of banal design which means transforming everyday objects into works of art.
