Our lighting fixtures are design to provide you the optimum light needed to successfully maintain your aquarium. LIGHTING Lighting is one of the most important elements in an aquarium. Lighting is a crucial factor in creating and maintaining a healthy marine environment for your aquarium inhabitants. Lighting is needed for aquatic plants and animals to sustain life functions. Light is also used to display the natural beauty of the tank and its inhabitants. The typical coral reef receives an amount of solar radiation that was difficult, until now, to match in an aquarium, particularly in terms of light intensity and spectrum. It is important to follow our recommended bulb replacement schedule to maintain high spectral output of lamps over time. Life of a Bulb: Lamps have a rated life of several years; however their beneficial aspects decline before the eye can detect the changes. The life and health of your marine inhabitants are directly related to know when lamps should be replaced. To be assured of optimum high spectral output, we recommend to change the lamps on a set schedule before seeing the visual signs of lamp failure loss of lumens or change in color spectrum. Hamilton Technology recommended Replacement bulb schedule T5 Fluorescent tubes every 10-12 months
. SAFETY WARNING: FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS BELOW MAY RESULT IN A FIRE CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR LOSS OF LIFE 2 WARNING Run system only at US standard 120 volt. Do not place objects on top of this product. Do not hang unit by power or lamp cord. Do not use an ungrounded 2 prong outlet or timer. Ventilating fan must be running when any light is in operation. Do not plug or unplug the system lamp cords while ballasts are running. Turn off and unplug Light System before touching Aquarium or Light System. Shut off the power (electricity) prior to bulb replacement, and maintenance to avoid injury. This is not a water or moisture proof system. Water or moisture should not come in contact with any part of the system. A glass or acrylic lens is required to cover the entire top of the aquarium to avoid moisture evaporation or water contact with lighting system. Do not place electrical items (power outlets, timers, ballasts, electrical cord connections, etc.) behind or under the aquarium. Avoid accidental water spillage or splash on electrical items, place on a dry, protected shelf away from water splash. All plug connections must be tight, do not leave gaps between the cord connections. Do not use this system if any part has been in contact with water (even if still operational), electrical contacts may become corroded by water exposure. Unit operates at high temperatures. Lamps get very hot, allow unit to cool before touching and keep children and pets away from system. Never modify, alter or rewire this system. Doing so creates a potentially hazardous situation and voids the manufacturer s warranty. Create a routine maintenance schedule (clearing dust from ventilating fans, checking for water splatter and corrosion, replacing bulbs, etc.) this may be performed by the user. Connect lighting system to Hamilton 3-prong grounded Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet (we recommend using the 5 outlet shock buster GFCI) and heavy duty grounded timers, only. Do not use an ungrounded 2 prong timer. In the event of a system malfunction, un-plug the system immediately, after unplugging the system call the manufacture and obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA#) to return for repair
