Venetia Elementary Fire started on the cafeteria stage early morning of Friday, December 15 Venetia students transported to JEB Stuart for school on 12/15 Venetia students transported to John Stockton Elementary School December 18-20 School opened to teachers on a limited basis during Winter Break Teachers returned to the school today, Jan. 8 Students return to the school tomorrow, Jan. 9 Special Thanks: Parents, teachers, students, administration and support staff of Venetia Administration and staff at JEB Stuart Administration, staff, and parents at John Stockton Operations Department leadership and staff Partners including GCA and Chartwells District leadership

Venetia Elementary Update December 8, 2018
Friday, Dec 15 Early Morning The fire started on the stage in the early morning hours, with JFRD and District Police responding. Fire Damage: Stage Smoke Damage: Cafeteria Kitchen Extended Day area 4 Classrooms Classroom heating and cooling systems were not damaged
Friday, Dec 15: During the Day Students were rerouted to JEB Stuart for the day. Maintenance and IT personnel assessed the school and removed materials and furniture for disposal or cleaning. A plan of action for recovery was developed.
Dec. 16-17: Weekend Efforts Saturday, Dec. 16 GCA on site with 40 custodians and all management Fire and Smoke restoration contractor on site Sunday, Dec. 17 Fire and Smoke restoration continues in Extended Day area Demolition begins on stage and in cafeteria
Dec 18-21: School Week Students and teachers moved to Stockton Transportation and food services continued Fire and smoke restoration efforts continued at Venetia
Dec 22- Jan 7: Winter Break School: All floors cleaned and waxed Air filters replaced Extended Day Areas: Cleaned area and waxed floors Reset area for food service

Scope of Work: Kitchen Kitchen Remove and thoroughly clean ceiling grid and replace tiles Remove and replace all receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures, intercom systems, AV components, voice/data outlets, fire alarm devices and associated wiring Remove and replace the HVAC system and all associated duct work Remove and clean all kitchen equipment and preparation surfaces Walk in freezer and refrigerator our external to the school and will be used by food staff during construction
Costs: Expended and Anticipated Expenses to Date $60,000 Includes demolition and Extended Day preparation Anticipated Expenses $500-$750K Construction scope and costs currently under review with final costs established by end of month Funding Sources Safety to Life Capital Account Reprioritization of other projects Insurance may cover a portion of the costs
