SUSTAINABILITY INFECTION CONTROL WATER AND ENERGY SAVING As part of Kohler Co., we operate a WaterSense partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency. Kohler Co. leads the way with products like its revolutionary waterless urinal and offers extensive technical support including water saving calculators. Infection control Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 stresses the importance of regular hand washing under running water in preventing the spread of MRSA and other hospital acquired infections. Moreover, to lower the risk of cross-contamination, the use of non-touch taps is recommended for surgical, washroom and food preparation areas. We have systems which can run thermal disinfection and duty flush cycles, whilst automatically compensating for changes in water supply pressures and temperatures. At the same time they limit maximum temperature to avoid scalding and allow no-touch flow and temperature selection to reduce the risk of cross-infection. Sustainability Best practice in sustainability is engrained in our ethos and in our provision of water control products. These principles extend to our manufacturing facility, where we operate an environmental control policy. Water and energy saving Taps which are left running can rapidly waste considerable volumes of both hot and cold water, with resulting waste of resources and increased energy and utility bills. We have systems which incorporate timed flow control, automatically turning off the flow when taps are left running.
