I. Assembly and instruction manual Please store this instruction manual in a safe place for future use. Please read the instruction manual carefully before using the patio heater. Please pay particular attention to the safety instructions. The materials and construction methods used in this device have been chosen to ensure against malfunctions when used properly. For safety reasons please wear safety gloves whilst assembling the heater. Assembly instructions for your patio heater can be found on pages 8-18. For assembly you will need: SW 7 SW 8 SW 13 SW 17 II. Connecting the unit to the gas canister (Fig. 2) The following parts are necessary to connect the appliance to the gas bottle: - commercial propane/butane gas - liquid gas canister (5,10 or 13 kg) - fixed-value DIN-DVGW approved pressure regulator (supplied), 1.5 kg/h, suitable for the gas canister, for operating pressure see factory settings on the patio heater. - DIN-DVGW approved 1.40 m hose (supplied) - approved leakage locating spray or foaming agent (e.g. Enders Gas-Control-Spray item no. 1196 or suds). 2 5560_5570_5580_Ecoline_DE_GB_FR_170309.indd 2 17.03.2009 13:35:36 Uhr
Gas canister connection: 1. Attach the pressure regulator (1) to the gas cylinder. 2. Connect the hosing (4) to the connector on the pressure regulator using the clamp (20) provided. 3. Connect the gas hose from the burner (5) to the gas hose from the regulator (4) using the quick coupler (6) provided. 4. With the regulator valve (2) open, check that none of the connection points are leaking gas. If there is no bubble formation, no leaks are present. Never inspect for leaks when the heater is in use! 5. At this point the instruction manual supplied for the gas pressure regulator should also be referred to. The liquid gas canister should only be replaced in a well-ventilated room, away from naked flames (candles, cigarettes, etc)! 31 Hose clamp 2 Regulator valve 6 Gas hose to regulator Fig. 2 1 Regulator 3 5560_5570_5580_Ecoline_DE_GB_FR_170309.indd 3 17.03.2009 13:35:36 Uhr
III. Note on commercial use According to German safety regulations BGV D34 (VBG 21), a DIN 30 693 approved hose rupture guard and a safety pressure regulator with an excess pressure valve must be fitted when using the heater in a commercial setting (e.g. at fetes). A hose rupture guard and a safety pressure regulator are not supplied. IV. Operating instructions 1. Open the canister valve (3) 2. The toggle switch of the burner that will be ignited must be in the ON position! Press the safety pilot button at the back of the pole until it it catches and at the same time press the red piezo ignition button at the front of the pole. Keep the safety pilot button pressed for about 20 seconds after ignition. This activates the flame control. In the rare case that the heater does not ignite after the piezo ignition button has been pressed 4 or 5 times, repeat the procedure 5 minutes later. Note: It is possible to ignite the unit using other primers (matches, fire sticks) through the opening in the grid. V. Switching off 1. To switch of the unit, close the canister valve (3). 2. To turn off a single burner, the toggle switch above the piezo ignition button should be in the OFF position. VI. Turning on and turning off a single burner Both burners can be turned on or off independently of each other. Turning on is described in point IV. Turning off is described in point V. VII. Storage tips Remove the pressure regulator with the gas hose from the gas canister by turning the cap nut (1) clockwise. Always check that the sealants are intact. If you discover or suspect damage, contact your supply or filling station. Never keep liquid gas canisters in the house, underground or in airless rooms! 4 5560_5570_5580_Ecoline_DE_GB_FR_170309.indd 4 17.03.2009 13:35:36 Uhr
VIII. Important safety information Note: Only use outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms. (The definition of a well-ventilated room is that at least 25% of the surrounding area is open. The surrounding area is the sum of all wall surfaces.) 1. The unit must be installed and the liquid gas canister stored according to the applicable regulations. 2. The patio heater may not be used in living areas, basements, office spaces or similar. 3. The patio heater may only be used for heating purposes. 4. The unit must be placed on a level and solid surface. 5. Keep all liquid gas bottles out of direct sunlight. 6. The unit must be placed in an area that has a volume of at least 20 m3 per kw of nominal thermal stress and be well ventilated (covered patio, beer tents, etc.) 7. When in use, the unit must be placed at a safe distance from combustible materials. The distance between the heat source and combustible materials must not be less than 2 m in the direction of radiation. Distance in other directions to combustible materials must not be less than 1 m. 8. Check the existence and the condition (i.e. no damage) of the sealant on the canister valve, particularly when changing the canister. Do not use any additional sealants. 9. The patio heater may only be operated using an intermediary pressure regulator with an acceptable exit pressure (see the unit rating plate and the factory settings). 10. Check the sealant of all connections immediately after assembly. A foaming agent (Enders Gas-Control-Spray, item no. 1196 or suds) should be used. 11. Repairs and maintenance of gas-technical components may only be carried out by authorised professionals. 12. In case of malfunction, the canister valve (3) should be closed. 13. The patio heater should be switched off and the canister removed from the canister holder before moving the unit to another location. 14. The gas hose must not be bent.. The gas hose should be inspected for damage at least once a month and each time the canister is changed. 16. The gas hose should be inspected every five years by an authorised specialist. 17. If the gas hose is damaged, it must be replaced by a hose of the same quality and length. 18. The ventilation holes on the container sleeve of the canister must not be covered. 19. Do not move the unit when it is switched on. 20. Only use the gas types and canisters recommended by the manufacturer! 5 5560_5570_5580_Ecoline_DE_GB_FR_170309.indd 5 17.03.2009 13:35:36 Uhr
21. In case of strong wind, make sure that the unit can not fall over. 22. When the unit is on, the gas canister should always be placed in the designated container sleeve. 23. The use of gloves is recommended to prevent injury that may result from sharp edges. Ceiling 1 m 1 m Wall IX. Environmental recommendations and disposal measures Before disposing of the patio heater, it should first be dismantled into its individual components. Metals, synthetic materials and the burner should be recycled. X. Causes of malfunction The patio heater is equipped with a tilt prevention device, making possible to encapsulate the gas feed can in a ball during transit. In order to activate the gas feed, shake the burner head gently so that the ball returns to its original position. 6 5560_5570_5580_Ecoline_DE_GB_FR_170309.indd 6 17.03.2009 13:35:37 Uhr
