Immediately call you gas supplier. FOR YOUR SAFETY: Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. IMPORTANT: Remove all packing material and literature from cooktop before connecting gas and electrical supply. CAUTION: This unit is shipped from the factory adjusted for use on the type gas specified on the rating plate. If cooktop is to be used on a gas other than specified, a conversion kit is available for this unit and must be installed. See instructions packed with conversion kit. A wiring diagram is enclosed in the envelope with this booklet. Also there is a diagram glued to the unit. MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER LOCATION The serial plate for your cooktop is located on the extreme bottom of unit, visible from inside cabinet when installed. In addition to the model and serial number, it tells you the ratings of the burners and type of fuel and pressure for which the cooktop was adiusted when it left the factory. When ordering parts, always include the model number and serial number to ensure proper replacement parts.

SERVICE - PARTS INFORMATION - When your cooktop requires service or replacement parts, contact your dealer or authorized service agency. B. CODES - These units must be installed to conform with all local code rules and regulations including municipal and state building codes, as well as local utility regulations. ELECTRIC SUPPLY - The cooktop must be installed in accordance with Local and National Electric Code (NEC) ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1987. Copies of the Standard may be obtained from: National Fire Protection Association, Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02259. GAS SUPPLY - In absence of local code the installation of a cooktop in a domestic household must conform with the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1-1988. Copies of the Standard may be obtained from American Gas Association, 1515 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington VA 22209. Local gas companies should have copies of codes. MOBILE HOMES - The installation of a cooktop designed for manufactured (mobile) home installation must conform with the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, part 3280 (formerly Standard for Mobile Home constructions and Safety 24 HUD, part 280), or, when such standard is not applicable, the Standard for Manufactured Home Sites, Communities and Set-ups), ANSI A225.1-1984, or with local codes. RECREATIONAL VEHICLES - The installation of a cooktop designed for recreational vehicles installation must conform with the Standard for Recreational Vehicles, ANSI A119.2-1984 Z21.57b-1984 (includes NFPA 501C) or when such standard is not applicable, comply with local codes. C. CLEARANCE DIMENSIONS (SEE BACK PAGES FOR INSTALLATION DRAWINGS) - For complete information in regard to the installation and clearances to combustible wall above the cooking top see the installation drawings on the back pages. For SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS do not install a top section in any combustible cabinetry which is not in accord with the installation drawings. D. LOCATING THE UNIT - It is best not to locate a cooktop near a window or in an area subject to strong drafts. If you must locate it near a window, choose an appropriate window treatment, one that cannot blow over the unit and create a fire hazard. For SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS make sure the cooktop is secured to counter with screws and tie down brackets provided and that the counter is level. See back page.

ELECTRICAL SUPPLY CONNECTION: The unit requires 120 volts, 60 cycle alternating current from an outlet capable of supply 15 amperes. WARNING: Electrical Grounding Instructions - This appliance is equipped with a (three-prong) grounding plug for your protection against shock hazard and should be plugged directly into a properly grounded receptacle. Do not cut or remove the grounding prong from this plug. WARNING: DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING THE APPLIANCE 2. GAS SUPPLY CONNECTION: A trained serviceman must make the gas installation. a. A gas cutoff valve should be put in an accessible location in the supply line ahead of the unit for turning on and off gas supply. If the unit is to be connected to house piping with flexible or semi-rigid metal connectors for gas appliances, CONNECTOR NUTS MUST NOT BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO PIPE THREADS. THE CONNECTOR MUST BE INSTALLED WITH ADAPTORS PROVIDED WITH THE CONNECTOR. b. The house piping and/or range connector used to connect the range to the main gas supply must be clean, free of metal shavings, rust, dirt and liquids (oil or water). Dirt, etc. in the supply lines can work its way into the cooktop manifold and in turn cause failure of the gas valves or controls and clog burners and/or pilot orifices. c. Turn off all pilots and main gas valve of other gas appliances. d. Turn off main gas at meter. e. Before connecting unit, apply pipe thread compound approved for LPG to all threads. f. Connect unit to gas supply. Use a backup wrench when twisting on end of manifold. CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION DOES NOT SHIFT THE MANIFOLD PIPE OUT OF POSITION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VALVE HANDLES AND KNOBS TO BIND. g. Turn on main gas valve at meter and relight pilots at other gas appliances. h. Apply soap suds to gas connection at range and check for leakage. Check for leakage at all gas connections and fittings in the range. CAUTION: NEVER CHECK FOR LEAKS WITH A FLAME. i. Connect electric supply cord to wall receptacle 120 volt 60 cycle alternating current, at 15 amperes. MATERIALS BEFORE LIGHTING ANY BURNER, SEE THAT ALL PACKING HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE UNITS. F. REGULATOR - All ranges are equipped with a gas pressure regulator for controlling and maintaining a uniform gas pressure in the gas manitbld of the unit. The burner orifices, etc. are sized for gas pressure delivered by the REGULATOR SUPPLIED. IT MUST NOT BE REMOVED. UNIT The gas pressure regulator (see Figure l) is located in the pack out box for shipment. The burner orifices, etc. are sized for the gas pressure delivered by the regulator supplied - IT MUST BE INSTALLED before operating the top section. For convenience of service, it should be installed as shown in Figure 1, or in an accessible location.

CHECKING MANIFOLD GAS PRESSURE - If it should be necessary to check the manifold gas pressure, connect manometer (water gauge) or other pressure device to the top burner orifice farthest from the manifold inlet and turn burner valve on. See Figure 2. For an accurate pressure check have at least two (2) other top burners burning. Be sure the gas supply (inlet) pressure is at least one inch (1 ") above specified range manifold pressure. The gas supply pressure to the regulator should never be over 14 inches W.. When properly adjusted for Natural Gas the manifold pressure is 4" W.C., for LP Gas, the pressure is 10" W.C. I. CHECKING PRESSURE OF HOUSE PIPING SYSTEM - The appliance and its individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of that system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 pounds per square inch (13.8 in W.C.). The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 pounds per square inch (13.8 in. W.C.).

The burner will light. To turn OFF spark after the burner has ignited: 1. For cooktops with HI-SIM-WARM valves, turn knob, either direction to HI setting, Figure 3. 2. There are separate ignition devices for each burner. These ignitors are turned "on" when any knob is turned to the LITE setting. The ignitors will "spark" as long as any of the burner knobs are at the LITE setting. In case of an electrical power failure, the burners can still be used. To light a burner, hold a lighted kitchen match adjacent to the burner to be used and turn valve knob for the burner to LITE. USE EXTREME CAUTION. The electric ignitor will not come "on'. It is necessary when using the burners during this type of emergency to light each burner to be used with a kitchen match as described above each and every time the burner or burners are to be used. B. BURNER ADJUSTMENT HI-MED-WARM VALVE: 1. HI- MED-WARM VALVE - The burner flame at the WARM position should extend to the outer edge of the lip of the burner cap. The WARM setting should be such that a stable flame is maintained on the burner when turning the knob from HIGH to WARM. If it should be necessary to increase or decrease the flame at the WARM setting, operate burner at HIGH position for approximately 5 minutes. Turn knob to WARM (see Figure 3). Remove valve handle and with a small screwdriver make the desired adjustment by turning adjustment screw located in center of valve stem. Check each burner at the WARM position tbr flame size. @FIGURE 3 HI-$1MoWARM [(ROB 2. MED (MEDIUM) is an intermediate setting and there is no adjustment to be made. NOTE: There are no air shutter adjustments to be made with this type burner.

CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION 3 inches minimum to any combustible side wall. These units can be installed in a cabinet made of wood or other combustible material. The 30 inch dimension may be reduced to not less than 24 inches when the wail cabinets in a domestic home are protected with fireproof materials in accordance with American National Standards Z223.1 or in mobile homes when they are protected with fireproof materials in accordance with the Manufactured Home Constructions and Safety Standards, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280 (formerly the Federal Standard for Mobile Home Constructions and Safety, Title 24 HUD (Part 280). CAUTION: Some cabinets and building materials are not designed to withstand the heat produced by the normal safe operation of a listed appliance. Remove the glass top unit from the carton and place it upside down over two soft pads making sure control knobs do not interfere with any surface. b. Peel off the hacking paper from the foam gasket provided with the unit and stick the adhesive backed tape to the glass along its edge. 2. Position cooktop in cutout. 3. From inside cabinet, position tie-down bracket underneath cutout. 4. Attach with screws provided to sma [ hole in bottom of burner box bottom. NOTE: Smal! hole may sometimes be partially covered with enamel. The mounting screws provided should be adequate for most countertop thickness.
