Security Management System Configuring TCP-IP MODBUS Inputs This document explains the configuration of TCP/IP MODBUS devices in the Security Management System Server software. A) Configuring TCP-IP MODBUS device: 1. In the server software, please go to the Security Devices tab in the left navigation menu bar. Go to the Devices sub-tab under it. 2. This will display the Security Devices page. 3. Click on Add Security Device button to popup dialog. Page 1 of 8
Configure Device Name any name you want to use for recognizing the device, Device Description short description for the device Select Device Type as TCP-IP MODBUS and fill in the MODBUS connection information such as IP Address, Port Number, Unit ID, Input Type, and Input Address. Further, configure Alarm Monitoring section using which Security Management System software will generate the alarms. You can test the connection for configured settings using Test connection button. Click on Add button to add the device into the Security Management System Server software. The device gets added to the Security Devices list as shown in below screenshot. Page 2 of 8
4. Select the device from the list and click on View device details button to get security device settings. You can also use mouse double click on the selected row to get to this page. Page 3 of 8
Configure Primary video channel and Secondary video channel using edit and save buttons present on middle-right side of the widow. You can edit device connection and alarm monitoring parameters using edit button present on lower left corner of the window. It will popup same dialog like Add Security Device and you can modify the settings there. Page 4 of 8
B) Alarm management: 1. Device Alarms Click on Device Alarms link present under Security Devices link on the left tab of the main screen. Locate the following alarm names TCP-IP MODBUS Input Alarm On TCP-IP MODBUS Input Alarm Off TCP-IP MODBUS Input Online TCP-IP MODBUS Input Offline Select any alarm name, its details will be shown in below list. To edit the alarm settings, click on edit button present on upper left of the window. This will pop up a dialog box where you can configure alarm settings. (see screenshot below) Page 5 of 8
In the Basic section, you can configure Alarm Name, Alarm Category, Save Image, Alarm Acknowledgement and popup windows. In Communication section, you can configure communication to other devices or softwares like Send Email, Send SMS, Call Phone, Upload to FTP, RSS Feed etc. In Macro section, you can ask to execute the user defined macro whenever the alarm is generated. 2. Device Alarm Rules Click on Device Alarm Rules link present under Security Devices link in the left side tab of the main screen. This will show you the list of configured Device Alarm Rules. To add new Device Alarm Rule, click on Add button to popup Add new alarm rule dialog. Select the Alarm Source and Alarm type and click on Next button to configure alarm handlers for the selected Alarm Type from selected Alarm Source. Below figure shows the settings you can configure. Configure Basic, Communication, Macro, Preset, and Multichannel recording sections as your requirement. As per the above screenshot, whenever alarm TCP-IP MODBUS Input Alarm On is generated for the security device SD_Sec001 ; Security Management System Server software will execute these configured alarm handlers. In case there is no alarm rule is defined, Security Management System Server software will use alarm handlers from Device Alarms section.
