RTPI North-West Young Planners Committee Introducing the Committee March 2016 With a range of specialisms and interests, our team is working hard to prepare a busy calendar of events for the year ahead. Tom Hiles Chair Planner, Urban Imprint Tom s interest in town planning stems from urban regeneration and the potential for places to improve people s lives and to achieve social change. As Chair he is working to raise the profile of planning amongst built environment professionals and the general public. At BPUD he is involved in working with communities around the country on neighbourhood plans. Kim Cooper Vice-Chair Planner, Arup Kim s interests in planning centre on urban regeneration and economic development of cities. Kim also has a keen interest in consultation and has expertise in dealing with a wide range of interested parties from members of the public to senior council officers. Kim has previously worked in the Chief Executive s Policy Team at Liverpool City Council and had high level exposure to the cities strategic growth plans, including being involved in producing the Liverpool City Region Devolution Deal. Sangeetha Banner Manchester Events Coordinator Planner, Urbed Sangeetha is particularly interested in community engagement, urban design and brownfield regeneration and is an active member of the Manchester Women s Design Group who hold events each year to engage with women working in the built environment.

Ian Ford Liverpool Events Coordinator Senior Planner, Arup Ian s planning interests lie within development management and regeneration projects. By working on large scale projects within his job, his passion for using planning to make places better has continued to grow. Ian works in Liverpool and helps coordinate planning events within the City as well as across the North West. Victoria Payne Media and Communications Coordinator Planner, Urbed Vicky is interested in matters of urban design, regeneration and cultural projects, particularly those with a community focus. Fola Kalesanwo University of Manchester Representative Town and Country Planning Student, University of Manchester Fola has a strong interest in transport planning, urban regeneration and green infrastructure planning. She is also interested in other topical issues such as climate change, sustainable urban development and the future of technology in our cities.

Marcin Koszyczarek Senior Planner, Rapleys Marcin has strong interest in development, urban design and smart cities. At Rapleys he works on a variety of retail and residential planning applications having previously worked in the renewable energy sector. Marcin holds a Master of Planning (MPlan) from the University of Liverpool. Carly Hinde Planner, Turley Carly has a strong interest in urban regeneration schemes and heritage developments. Her role at Turley enables her to work on a variety of planning applications and she works closely with her urban design and public engagement colleagues. Matthew Dixon Planner, White Peak Planning Matthew takes a holistic view and is keen to consider how the varied elements of planning come together to address key challenges in urban and rural environments. Matthew is currently engaged in supporting a local community whilst they create their own neighbourhood plan Jonathan Harper Associate, Rapleys Jonathan has a wide range of experience across a number of property sectors including residential, retail and commercial. He has experience in advising a broad range of clients including national retailers, house builders, asset managers, private developers and corporate clients on planning matters throughout the United Kingdom.

Andrew Jalali Planner, Mosaic Town Planning Andrew is interested in urban design, community engagement and the delivery of truly affordable housing and how the development of new technologies can assist in improving these planning disciplines. Andrew is also keen to provide support to RTPI planning graduates, and advises aspiring planners on the potential paths to achieve a career in planning Anna Papazoglou Assistant Planner, Turley Anna's academic background and interests are related to brownfield regeneration, especially for areas and countries which are under economic, political or social crisis. Her involvement in various planning-related projects along with her previous experience within the economic development sector in the UK allow Anna to have a well-rounded understanding of the multiple aspects and complexities of her work. Atefeh Motamedi Atefeh is interested in strategic planning, land use planning and neighbourhood development planning. Her previous experience from Iran has enabled her to develop a good appreciation for strategic planning in the UK as well. She also has a keen interest in the matter of second homes in National Parks as she has researched the spatial effects of second homes on rural areas for her Master's Degree dissertation. Atefah works as a part time Planning Consultant at 4D Planning.

Hannah Payne Planner, Rapleys Hannah is currently working towards chartered membership of the RTPI. She specialises in planning and project management for retail and residential developers across the UK, and particularly enjoys engaging communities, clients and local authorities through all aspects of the planning process. Originally from Hayfield in the Peak District, Hannah is keen to support sustainable development in the North West through her involvement in the committee. Laura Hayes Graduate Planner, NJL Consulting Laura is passionate about heritage asset restoration, providing high quality residential developments and urban realm revitalisation. She is very interested in the reutilisation of transport relics as a catalyst for community interaction, tourism growth and brownfield development; her Masters dissertation on the Castlefield Viaducts focused on these elements. Laura believes great design is key to creating sustainable built environments that muster lasting civic pride. Robin Jones Assistant Planner, CBRE Robin has a strong interest in the development and regeneration of property and urban centres as well as self- and custom-build housing. Her role at CBRE allows her to assist in the delivery of large-scale, complex, residential, commercial and mixed use schemes for a variety of private and public sector clients.

Sam Lee Student, University of Manchester Sam is keen on engaging with the local community to help improve their local area. Transport planning and smart cities with a focus on tackling climate change are also part of her interests. Moving towards a greener environment by developing sustainable cities and using green infrastructure feeds into those interests.
