3 NEW WORKS // A BRIEF PORTRAIT NEW WORKS presents a collection of work inspired by the senses. Based in Copenhagen, our objects reference a history of fine craftsmanship and honest materials, whilst exposing sculptural forms that intersect art and design. We collaborate with an international group of renowned designers and artists that share our obsession with natural materials and striking form. 5 An Exercise in Scale: New Works at Stockholm Furniture Fair and Maison & Objet 2017 Since it s beginning in 2015, New Works has grown from a series of sculptural objects grounded in four core values: Natural, Experimental, Rough, and Craftsmanship. Under the vision of Creative Director Knut Benedik Humlevik, the Copenhagen design house has expanded its reach in only its second year. Demonstrating a love of the sensual and of the bold, the New Works collection has retained a strong Scandinavian base, whilst reaching out to a new global audience. New Works first collection fused experiments in materiality with geometric form. Sculptural pieces including the Untitled (Concrete Chair), Kizu Table Lamp and Crowd Candle Holders, demonstrated their unique approach to form. In 2016, pieces such as the Rise and Shine Mirror and Florence Shelf added a sense of movement and drama to a growing collection of iconic lights, objects and accessories. In 2017, New Works will re-compose this unique approach to form and materiality into a larger scale. Continuing to experiment with sensuality and sculptural forms, this new focus will provide a full collection of interior objects, from candleholders to complete dining settings. With the launch of Five Floor Lamp, and the strong geometry and warmth of the Covent Chair, New Works has continued the commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art and design. A bold design language grounded in honest materials and fine craftsmanship.

7 Moiré Wall Light David Derksen Inspired by the play of patterns in Moiré jewellery, the Moiré Wall Light demonstrates the matching sensations of touch and interaction. The warmth of layered copper patterns creates an every-changing illumination of shapes and forms. The user is invited into its hypnotic performance as its movement presents rings, squares and hexagons as if from thin air. The magical execution of Moiré. Material Powder coated aluminium, acrylic, copper / brass / stainless steel and PVC cord Dimensions D: 60 x Ø: 300 mm, Cord length: 3500 mm Aura Wall / Table Mirror Bjørn van den Berg Rise & Shine Wall Mirror Hunting & Narud The Rise and Shine Mirror utilises bold forms with an asymmetrical composition to create an unfolding feature within any space. A softening oak centre point allows the mirror and brass components to push and pull against each other, providing an ever-changing point of reflection. Whether employed for different functions, or simply to create an intriguing interior sculpture, Rise and Shine provides a centrepiece full of balance and movement. The bold materiality of the Aura Mirror is what generates its unique inner glow. Its polished metal form picks up surrounding light, creating diverse reflections through a combination of hard flat surfaces and long curves. Designed to be touched and held, its weight and strength is offset by the softness of its shine and sculptural curved form. By elegantly adjusting the components materials and proportions, Five Floor Lamp demonstrates a raw honesty, combined to produce a graceful sculptural piece.
