Is now the right time, is it right for your company, and how much of your application do you move? What are the different pieces of cloud technology and what are their benefits. This and more will be discussed as well as a demonstration of an existing cloud based system. Speaker Joe Bingham spent five year with Halliburton in the chemical plant and refinery group. He then spent 10 years at Sempra Energy, in Los Angeles, as a manager in the environmental & compliance group and then at the corporate level, in San Diego, as a senior software engineer. While at Sempra, Joe received his patent for DAS/RTU software as well as published several white papers on DAS/RTU systems and alarm management. Joe is President of AES Global, Inc., and co-founder of Data-Global, Inc., a software company focused on cloud based SCADA solutions. He has been President of ISA Los Angeles Section, ISA District 11 Vice President, Co-Chair on the counsel of District Vice Presidents, member of the ISA Executive Board, Chairman of ISA Automation West, Co-Chair of ISA 101, a standard for HMI s, help to develop the Certified Automation Professional certification, and is published in the ISA Automation Body of Knowledge, second edition. Joe is currently teaching Beginning PLC Programming and Advanced PLC Programming for the California State University Fullerton, Extension. After leaving Sempra in 2003, he started AES Global, Inc., a systems integration firm specializing in automation and controls. Recently, he has co-founded Data-Global, Inc., a software company focused on cloud based SCADA solutions. Zee Don Zee Associates (949) 235-0917 DonZee@cox.net Message from the District Vice President By Rafael Agrazsanchez I am honored and humbled to serve ISA district 11 as DVP for the next two years. How time flies... I still remember years ago when Raj Adani the Orange County section Nominator at the time asked me if I would be willing to volunteer to the Orange County Section as Program Chair, I was excited to take on the challenge but never thought I would stick with ISA as long as I have. I served the Orange County Section as Programs chair for a year, then as treasurer for two years, then president elect, then president, and now past president and DVP... It happened that fast. I think anyone who has been a member or leader of ISA for years will agree that it just grows on you, you start to look forward to the meetings, the relationships both personal and professional, the teamwork, the growing as a professional in automation, the leadership skills, and seeing the impact that ISA makes to student organizations. As of January 1, 2014, Gary Campbell, previous DVP for District 11 completed his assignment as DVP and he is now appointed as the District 11 Nominator. I want to take a moment to thank Gary for all his hard work and dedication to ISA and District 11. Message from the District Vice President, continued from page 2 forward to working with Gary in his new role as nominator. I would also like to introduce Jeff Blue as the DVP-Elect for District 11. Jeff will remain DVP-Elect for two years and then serve district 11 as DVP for two years, it is a four year commitment and I am excited to work with Jeff. He has the right energy and knowledge of the society and I am confident he is a great asset to our district and ISA. I would like to thank all of the leaders within ISA s district 11 specifically for volunteering their time and effort into making ISA the prestigious and professional organization that it is. Historically District 11 is among the strongest districts in the society. Without you ISA would not be what it is. Every year the leaders within ISA coordinate monthly meetings, golf tournaments, table top shows, scholarships for students, educational seminars, Christmas parties, social events that promote exchange of ideas and methodologies and among other things create relationships that develop as we age in the automation industry. We begin to realize that the automation world is smaller than we thought before we joined ISA. In my mind this is one of the greatest assets to ISA and automation, the people. Regional events & training Dates subject to change. Contact the sponsoring party before making your final plans to attend. To include an ISA or non-isa event, please contact the editor. All sections start there fiscal year on July 1st, which is why our District Leadership meeting is scheduled this year for Friday August 22 - Sunday August 24 in Temecula, CA. This will give new leaders the opportunity to participate. It will also allow sections to budget for the meetings during the planning meetings that each incoming president organizes. A few additional important dates to put in your calendar are: ISA Spring Leaders Meeting June 28th -July 1st 2014 in Raleigh, NC, and ISA Fall Leaders Meeting November 8th - 11th 2014 in Kansas City, MO.
