Hello and welcome to Mercer School of Interior Design. Having spent the past twenty-five years designing and decorating innovative interiors around the world, I ve learned the importance of a global approach to design. As the founder and director of Mercer, I m thrilled to be able to share my passion for interior design with students while offering them a more cultivated approach to the field. Our school the only one in Australia that focuses exclusively on styling, interior design, and decoration teaches you the art, business, and essential skills necessary to prepare you for a successful career in the industry. As the industry continues to evolve, we re committed to exposing our students to the latest insights and methods of its leading innovators. Mercer encourages an international perspective that values diversity. By combining a fresh look at design education with the industry s latest technology, my hope is to give each of our students the opportunity to develop their own unique aesthetic and career path. I look forward to welcoming you, Diane Bergeron Director / Founder 2 3

OUR PHILOSOPHY Education through inspiration. At the Mercer School of Interior Design, we approach design education differently. In addition to providing all of the essential skills for a successful career in design, we challenge our students to think beyond the latest trends by providing them with the tools they need to discover their own unique design aesthetic. With an exclusive focus on Interior Design, Decoration and Styling our nationally accredited courses and master classes are developed and taught by the industry s leading innovators. Furthermore, our studio-style spaces and small class sizes guarantee that our students receive the first-hand guidance they need for a successful future in the field. Whether you choose to study online or our studio style campus Mercer s goal is to deliver an exceptional standard of design education for all of it s students. 5

Design for Mirabel is an ongoing philanthropic endeavour of Diane Bergeron and the Mercer School of Interior Design. The inaugural Design for Mirabel event launched as a benefit that showcases ten of Australia s finest interior designers. After meeting with Jane Rowe, founder of the Mirabel Foundation, Diane Bergeron wanted to use her connections and expertise to support the cause. Feeling that the design industry could afford to give back to the community, the Mirabel Foundation seemed like the perfect choice as they work to make better homes for children. The Mirabel Foundation is the only organisation in Australia supporting children that have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental addiction to illegal drugs. The Mirabel Foundation currently supports over 1200 children throughout Victoria and New South Wales, most of whom are now in the care of extended family (kinship care). The Mirabel Foundation believes that every child deserves a childhood and works to restore a child s sense of self-worth, belonging and hope for the future so that they may reach their full potential as young adults. Since the launching event, Design for Mirabel is an ongoing fundraising project that brings together design luminaries in order to build Mirabel s Hope HQ. Mirabel s Hope HQ will be a new home for the staff as well as a drop-in centre for kids. This new building will allow the Mirabel Foundation to host events for the Mirabel children and provide a place for carers to stay overnight. Diane is in discussion with potential architects in relation to the project and is also welcoming suppliers to be involved with this special cause. Australian House and Garden will be offering their ongoing support as our official media partner. All funds raised by Design for Mirabel go directly to building a house for the Mirabel Foundation. Design for Mirabel will continue to raise funds by hosting an annual gala and creating an online platform through the Mercer School of Interior Design Website. Design for Mirabel s online platform will offer unique gifts and experiences for every budget year round. Gifts and experiences will fall under four categories: Interior Design & Decoration Travel Food & Wine Entertainment What will make the Design for Mirabel online platform unique is the way that it connects the design community with tangible, meaningful ways to give back. Whether treating yourself or someone else to one of the gifts on offer, not only do you benefit, but your donation grows two-fold as the staff and kids at The Mirabel Foundation are closer to getting their new house. Design for Mirabel provides our students with a project to give back to their community through design, exemplifying the Mercer ethos. We are excited at the evolution of Design for Mirabel and look forward to raising enough funds to build the Mirabel Foundation a new home helping them to further realise their goal. www.designformirabel.com.au JANE ROWE, FOUNDER OF THE MIRABEL FOUNDATION 6 7
