IMAGINE IOT SMART HOUSE PROJECT

Story Electricity is an important part in our life. We use electricity to powering our lamp, air conditioner, television, printer, cell phones, and so on. These appliances are around us and we can not live without electricity. For mple, lamp help us to be productive, with lightning we can work, prepare our food, read, play, move about safely. We can see how electricity help us to improve our life We know electricity helps our daily life and valuables but we should use it wisely. Why we should use energy efficiently? Energy is not free, wasting energy is the same as wasting money. If we use energy carelessly we will end up with high electricity bill. Another reason why we should use energy efficiently is to save our earth. Many power plants are using fossil fuel as power source to produce electricity. Each time a fossil fuel is burned, CO2 is released during the process into the atmosphere, changing the Earth s natural climate and weather systems. How can we save energy? We can do several things, such as: 1. Turn off appliances when they are not being used 2. Unplug electrical appliances when they are not in use. 3. Use more energy efficient appliance, and so on. Those are simple things but sometimes we forget to do that. It would be nice if there is an application to remind us for turn off our home appliances and it will help us to save our money and energy. We can monitor our usage of energy and we can control our electrical appliances using this application. Those are the behind story of this prototype. This application will be used to monitor our electricity usage and we can simulate cost of electricity and with this we can more efficient. 2

Persona Lina Housewife Efficiency is how we can do things with minimum efforts but we can get good result in the end About Responsibilities Managing her family s home Manage his husband s income for buying groceries and paying bill Taking care of children Needs 3 I need to control the usage of electricity home because sometime people at home forget to turn off home appliances. I need to know the simulation of electricity cost so she knows the estimation of electricity bill 30 years old, she was working in financial services institution before she decided to be a housewife to take care her children Married, and have two children Very busy when the morning come, she prepared breakfast for the people at home Love cooking and painting Main Goals To be a best mother who can protect and support her family s members Becoming a more efficient person for saving the husband s income so she can save more money Pain Points Need to ask everyone at home to save energy Need to manage money efficiently

Point of View (PoV) Lina is always trying her best to be a good mother for her family members. She wants the family members use the electricity efficiently. If they are not using the electricity efficiently then it will end up with high electricity bill. As a mother Lina has responsibility to manage her husband s income efficiently so she can save more money for the future. 4

UX Journey Here is the UX Journey in Lina s perspective ACTIONS -Use Home Appliances -Turn off home appliances (For efficiency) -Pay electricity bill (End of month) MINDSET - So hot, I will switch on the AC - Oh no, I forgot to turn off the AC - My goodness, why the electricity bill is so expensive FEELING -Switch Button -Switch Button -Invoice Bill TOUCH POINTS 5

Prototype The prototype is based on SAP Fiori design guidelines and the application is master detail type. Figure 1 Master section will show the list of rooms in the house such as: master bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and so on. Detail section is on the right side with icon tab bar. Each icon tab bar will show different information. First icon tab will show the list of home appliances in the room for example Master Bedroom which Lina has select it on master section. We can turn off the application in this section. Second icon tab will be used to monitor the appliances in the room through CCTV camera. Third icon tab will give Lina the information of estimation cost for each home appliances, with this Lina can analyze the power consumption and the electricity cost. Last icon tab will be used to send notes to the family member so Lina can remind them to save the energy. 6
