120th anniversary ARCHIVE EDITION

BLOSSOM TOSS The diminutive nosegays tossed across this wallpaper have the enchanting power to enthrall. The miniaturization of springtime cherry blossoms recalls warm sun and gentle breezes. On this wallpaper the design is a mere two inches or so, and is slightly raised and strewn on a field with a gently glowing crackle. Four selections; among them, light blue with silver, white, pink, lilac, and green. Mix and match with Delia or Cherry Blossom. MAGNOLIA Bountiful magnolias, symbol of gracious southern living, dominate this lightly textured wallpaper. Clusters of smaller fruit tree blossoms add additional flattering form and color to the over scale pattern. Of the five choices, some have a matte ground while some have a glowing background. A naturalistic French painting from the 19th century was the beautiful example that inspired this design. For drama select black with pink, white, coral, amber, brown and green. For serenity pick light blue with white, cream, peach, pink, amber, brown, and green. Pair with Aida Damask Stripe or Delia in appropriate colors. SHADOW TRELLIS A layered trellis comes to fruition when garlands of tiny flowers form four inch tipsy squares. Metallic scrollwork, on the diagonal, and quartets of small dots add to the motif creating a unique overall design that is brilliantly conceived. This wallpaper was adapted from a French antique carpet pattern book. The acanthus leaf was popular on both walls and on woven carpet and has become a classic element in home decor. There are four choices, all of which match Architectural Floral, including aqua with cream and bright gold.

PEARLESCENT PLASTER Quiet, soft, neutral this indistinct design is calm and restful. The shades of taupe seem to have an organic ancestry evinced by the appearance of natural radiance emanating from this wallpaper. This palette would be grand with several of the Bridge Scenic color ways. FLORAL SPOT A walk through a cutting garden could yield a pretty bouquet like those on this wallpaper. A mixture of raised roses, assorted blossoms and leafy stems, about five inches by four, are shown on a solid backdrop for an open and airy wallpaper pattern with a refreshingly charming ambience. Six color ways include a combination of soft pearlescent white with cream, lilac and light grey/green. Use with Neoclassic Cameo or Rose Toss in coordinated hues. CHERRY BLOSSOM Meander along Washington s Potomac tidal basin in early April and thrill to the amazing experience of more than three thousand cherry trees in colorful bloom. Or select a version of this lovely wallpaper and enjoy it at home throughout the seasons! The textural design features clusters of flowers and leaves, near life size, adorning the branches while the crackled finish lends an air of distressing. The original sketch, from a studio in England, dates from 1910. There are four varied combinations such as palest gold with pink, white, cream, brown and soft green. Two ideal coordinates are Blossom Toss or Delia.

NEO CLASSIC TEXTURE Ancient walls could have been the inspiration for this pattern. The mottled appearance lends an approximation of texture to the smooth surface, while the layered colors and random design create an organic look and a sensation of depth. Available in just one unique color way, this is a perfect accompaniment to Bridge Scenic. BRIDGE SCENIC A misty dreamscape flows from the artist s brush; in the foreground, a lute, a book, and a bower of flowers. A broad stairway leads to a gracefully arched bridge and the trees beyond, while a bird soars silently home to its nest above the shadows. In the mid-19th century, French manufacturers were determined to make wallpaper an art form not just a craft. This example is based on an 1850 painting. Known as grisaille, the grey and muted shades mimic an aged tapestry and some of the five selections have a crackled finish. Flattering coordinates include Delia or Neo Classic Texture. AIDA DAMASK STRIPE Ultra wide stripes, five to eight inches broad, are separated by half inch bands. The tri-colored vertical design is printed on lightly textured paper and the inks form mottled and web-like patterns that add dimension and, in some cases, a modest glow. Select from four palettes; among them silvered and medium matte lilac with gold. Coordinate with Magnolia and Delia.

SHIMMERING CRACKLE A pale pearlescent gold background wears a mass of crackled lines. This wallpaper has the textural appearance that evokes the past yet is so handsome in a traditional or even a contemporary home. This particular palette is ideal with Architectural Floral and Shadow Trellis in iridescent silver and neutrals. COTTAGE STRIPE This vertical pattern is composed of nearly three inch wide stripes which alternate intensity of color for a tonal appearance. There is very light texture, almost like a weave, and a faux crackle created with barely contrasting ink to add a time worn aura. The crowning touch is a modest metallic glow. There are three versions including a pale gold and light gold combination. Use with Wild Flowers or Delia Damask. WILD FLOWERS Memories of the sweet season when the senses are deluged by the color and fragrance of flowers and melodic birdsong welcome every day all are recalled by the beautifully serene artistry of this wallpaper. Roadside wildflowers and grasses are a haven for the birds, the butterflies, and the bees in an idyllic and uplifting design. This French floral depiction was adapted from a naturalistic painting circa 1870. There are five refreshing versions, one of which features a soft metallic silver field with teal, lilac, purple and yellow/green. Use with Cottage Stripe for a lovely pairing.

SOFT RAISED LINEN Pale taupe crosshatched lines on an off-white surface successfully mimic woven threads spun from flax fiber. The vague texture and neutral color of this wallpaper makes it versatile enough for nearly any décor, almost any room. Use it alone for the look of linen covered walls or mix and match with Wild Flowers or Rose Toss for a pretty combination. ROSE TOSS The slenderest of raised vines form a web of minute roses as the fragile stems cling to the solid ground. Although the raised pattern meanders all over this wallpaper, its soft colors and small scale maintain an air of delicacy and femininity. Select from six palettes such as white with aqua, coral, and grey. Use with Soft Raised Linen for a more casual look or with Delicate Rose Stripe for a romantic room. NEOCLASSIC CAMEO Delight in the beauty of oversized cameos framed with ornate fretwork and bedecked with lush roses and dainty posies. The raised texture of the twenty by fourteen inch design and the multicolor blossoms on a solid field create a rich and refined appearance. Western cultural movements embraced classical forms by ancient Greece and Rome during the 18th century. By 1970 a Frenchman had invented steel engraving enabling this beautiful neoclassic design to be produced. Multiple coordinates include Delicate Rose Stripe and Floral Spot in matching hues.

DELICATE ROSE STRIPE A picture of poetry, this uncommon stripe, though medium in scale, is delicate and oh, so romantic. The preeminent five inch stripes contain lacy fretwork and dainty blossoms. The wide stripes are separated by inch wide bands with a pinnate leaf design and dual rows of tiny belle fleur. The design is raised on a solid background. The original document for this block print dates from 1840 and features a carved dellarobbia motif in grisaille with a beautiful central full color cabbage rose. Lovely partners include Neoclassic Cameo and Rose Toss in matching shades.

LAURAL This attractive wallpaper comes in just two color ways. How propitious it is that one is soft and light, combining cream with pale pink and white while one is rich and metallic, combining beige and taupe with a golden glow. Use the pretty pale one with Architectural Floral or the gold one with delicate Rose Stripe in appropriate hues. ARCHITECTURAL FLORAL This distinctive pattern is not only large, more than twenty inches tall, but possesses the elements of design that make for an ornate and eye catching wallpaper. A bouquet of slightly raised roses is shown in a scrolling ogee frame while the field is covered with clusters of tiny dots and shadows of foliage. The original drawing dates to 1850 and although it is of English origin, the dominant style has French roots. Select from a quartet of palettes such as greys with bright silver, lilac, and cream. Wed to Shadow Trellis in matching color ways. CORA In one lovely palette of pale gold, soft taupe, and misty aquamarine, this smooth wallpaper achieves a visual texture. A soft glow, hazy irregular shapes, and a web of tangled lines combine to suggest an organic origin. Pair with Architectural Floral and Shadow Trellis in their aquamarine coloration.

DELIA Like a plaster wall in an aged edifice, this slightly textured wallpaper exhibits a contrasting faux crackled surface on a medley of hazy waxing and waning hues. The distressed appearance suggests a vintage estate and brings comely warmth to a new home. Eight lovely color options include soft grey/green with gold and tan, or pearlescent cream with light taupe. Use alone or in tandem with Delia Damask or Laural. DELIA DAMASK Suffused light radiates from this lovely damask which is worthy of an Italian palazzo. Subtle signs of antiquity, including hazing and cloudiness, add time-worn softness to the slightly raised and scrolling fronds. Though large in scale, this design is refined to the point of perfection. Select from the quartet of color ways including pearlescent lilac with cream and gold and match with Delia for a gracious ensemble. PARROT TULIP A glowing field makes the perfect backdrop for an abundance of ample parrot tulips. The full blown blooms, nearly five inches in diameter, are casually strewn in charming disarray across a mottled and crackled surface with modest texture. As printing and engraving techniques became more sophisticated, designers were able to create beautiful and realistic botanicals in the late nineteenth century that inspire modern adaptations such as this. Pair with one of the lovely matching shades of Delia or Cottage Stripe.
