Negotiations continued on the Battalion Chiefs 2016 2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement on Tuesday, May 3 rd at Headquarters Station 31. Senior Staff held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, May 3 rd at Headquarters Station 31. Administrator Robertson and HR Manager Borden attended the Washington Cities Insurance Authority annual Board Meeting and training session, followed by the Association of Washington Cities Labor Relations Institute, from Wednesday, May 4 th to Friday, May 6 th in Yakima. On Wednesday, May 4 th, DC Gerber attended the City of Pacific Emergency Management Team meeting at the City of Pacific EOC. DC Swearingen attended the MultiCare Community Leaders Forum on Thursday, May 5 th at the Auburn Golf Course. DC Day & BC Larberg attended the City of Auburn EOC Logistics Training on Thursday, May 5 th at One Main Street. On Thursday, May 5 th, DC Day attended the King County EMS Basic Life Support Quality Assurance meeting in Kent. 1

This Week: Senior Staff will hold their weekly meeting on Tuesday, May 10 th at Headquarters Station 31. The Civil Service will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 10 th at Auburn City Hall. On Tuesday, May 10 th, the Finance Committee and Board of Governance will hold their regular meetings at Headquarters Station 31. DC Day will attend the King County Medic One BLS Working Group meeting on Wednesday, May 11 th in Bellevue. Administrator Robertson will meet with Auburn Police Chief Bob Lee to discuss matters of mutual interest on Thursday, May 12 th in Auburn. Command Staff will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, May 12 th Headquarters Station 31. at DC Gerber & IT Manager Smith will meet with City of Auburn IT staff to review the GIS portal for the VRFA on Friday, May 13 th at One Main Street. VRFA Personnel will participate in the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraising event on Friday, May 13 th & Saturday, May 14 th at Memorial Stadium in Auburn. 911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Monday, May 2 nd at 3:45 p.m., firefighters assisted an adult woman who was experiencing rapid heart rate with chest discomfort. The woman was evaluated by firefighters then transported by King County Medics to a local hospital. Aid Call: (Auburn) On Tuesday, May 3 rd at 4:45 p.m., firefighters assisted a child who injured her arm after falling from a bunk bed. The patient s arm was splinted and she was taken to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) by private ambulance. Aid Call: (South Auburn) On Wednesday, May 4 th at 1:21 p.m., firefighters responded to the Muckleshoot Casino for an adult female with respiratory difficulty. VRFA firefighters, along with King County Medics treated the 2

patient at the scene. The patient was then transported in stable condition to MAMC by private ambulance. Aid Call: (Pacific) On Thursday, May 5 th at 4:00 p.m., firefighters responded to a young adult male with a temperature. The patient was dealing with a known ongoing medical issue and transported to St Francis Hospital via a private ambulance. Aid Call: (Lea Hill): On Friday, May 6 th at 11:37 a.m., firefighters responded to an adult female with an ankle injury. The patient was treated at the scene by firefighters and transported to MAMC by private ambulance. Aid Call: (Auburn) On Saturday, May 7 th at 6:13 p.m., firefighters assisted an elderly female complaining of a laceration to her shin. Firefighters assessed the patient, treated her on scene, and transported her to MAMC for further treatment. Aid Call: (Algona) On Sunday, May 8 th at 5:20 p.m., firefighters responded to an adult female complaining of left rib pain. The patient was examined on scene and transported to MAMC via a private ambulance. Training Division Activities: Year 2015 2016 Weekly 350 315 Year to Date 7,761 6,440 Dive Training: VRFA Technical Rescue Team members completed dive and rope training at Auburn s Isaac Evan s Park along with crews from the Renton Fire Department. Truck Academy: VRFA crews participated in a Zone 3 Truck Academy with other regional ladder truck companies. In addition to participating in this training, the VRFA is providing instructors, training props and facilities to the class. First grade classes were taught at Hazelwood Elementary. PIEO Staff attended a meeting hosted by the City of Auburn regarding upcoming community picnics throughout the summer at different locations. The picnics are designed to encourage interaction with residents and allow an informal forum for questions. The VRFA will be participating. PIEO Staff inspected two child car seats for an Auburn mother. PIEO Staff assisted with the planning and preparation for a regional Kids Safety Day at the Museum of Flight. This event is held annually and hosted by the King County Fire & Life Safety Association. Fire Investigation There were no new incidents requiring the services of the Fire Investigation Unit this week. Planning and Logistics P&L received six apparatus and six facility/small tool maintenance requests. Storz hydrant adaptor project continues in City of Auburn service area. P&L staff attended Emergency Operations Center training in preparation for Cascadia Rising Earthquake drill. The drill will commence June 8th and 9th. 5
