Leaks from fuel lines may include flammable materials such as LPG or petrol, while exhaust fumes contain Carbon Monoxide and Oxides of Nitrogen that are toxic. The Metro system comprising multiple detectors and controller is designed to protect people from such hazards while minimizing building running costs through economical control of ventilation systems. The Metro gas detector offers simple and low cost installation. The mounting base is fixed into position without the detector fitted, thereby offering unhindered access to terminals for the installer. 5 x 1mm 2 (17AWG) screened cable can be terminated at each base with terminals for cable in, out and spur. Once all cabling is complete, the detector simply plugs into the base and is secured into position via two screws. Every detector is supplied complete with one of two types of vandal proof guard, flush or surface mount. Set up and configuration could not be easier. Each detector is configured using the ZHC2 infrared remote control (supplied with each controller). Configurable options include gas type, address, four alarm set points (instantaneous or time weighted action), local relay (trip point, energised/de-energised operation, NO/NC link selectable), local audible alarm operation (active or disabled) and calibration (see specification table for applicable ranges). The ZHC2 saves each detector setting for download to the controller, thereby configuring all controller inputs quickly and easily. Reliable operation and ease of maintenance played a key part in the design of the Metro detector. Trouble free long life can be expected using Honeywell Analytics patented Surecell TM electrochemical toxic sensor technology and poison resistant catalytic bead flammable sensors. Detectors are serviceable to reduce on-going costs to an absolute minimum. With each controller capable of powering up to 250 toxic, 125 flammable or 80 toxic and flammable detectors, without the need for booster power supplies, a Metro system is sure to offer installers and end users the lowest cost and safest gas monitoring solution on the market today.
Installation details Overview The Metro Detector is designed to simplify installation and minimise costs wherever possible. Each detector is supplied with mounting base, vandal proof guard and gas identification labels as standard. Detector bases should be mounted to conduit box with suitable cable glands for strain relief. Detector audible alarm may be inhibited via ZHC2 IR Remote Control. Visual indication may be masked via gas type label (supplied). Dimensions shown exclude the vandal proof guard.
