The use of components other thn those supplie by OWA will prevent the issuing of KIT lbel. It is therefore crucil to use mterils of limite combustibility on key surfces within room, such s ceilings n wlls. The use of such mterils cn rmticlly reuce the spee flmes spre through n re s well s minimise their contribution to the fire. The Europen stnr EN 13501-1: Rection to Fire provies number of performnce criteri to mesure the fire chrcteristics of builing proucts. These cover spre of flme n contribution to fire s well the genertion of smoke n the prouction of burning roplets. The tble below provies n overview of the vilble clssifictions. Structurl elements bse on EN 13501-2 encompss the whole structurl element n not just the suspene ceiling. This my consist of the roof n the suspene ceiling or the structurl floor n suspene ceiling. The entire element shoul resist the impct of fire on its structurl bility for s long s possible. The length of time this cn be mintine is the fire resistnce urtion n will clssify it in one of the clsses shown. 2
OWAcoustic Test Criteri During the fire resistnce test the lbortory will look out for verse rection s well s reporting on the following key criteri. R. The structurl element shoul not collpse or eflect beyon the permitte levels when subjecte to the pplie lo. OWA Suspene ceilings cn lso be use to provie fire resistnce to timber constructions. The exmple below (fig 2) shows timber floor construction with the OWA ceiling below E. The integrity of the room must be mintine. No brekthrough of flmes is permitte. I. Where n OWAcoustic ceiling is use to provie structurl fire resistnce it is importnt tht the ceiling is constructe in the sme mnner s tht use in the test. Filure to use the sme components n lyout my invlite ny certifiction n prevent us issuing KIT eclrtion Due to the iversity of the vrious structurl elements currently vilble it is impossible to test ech iniviully. We therefore enevor to test the worst cse scenrio in ech generic construction type. The following exmples show constructions within test furnce. The illustrtion below (fig. 1) shows n exmple of typicl steel bem construction with the OWA ceiling below. Escpe n rescue routes often hve services contining combustible mterils instlle below the structurl slbs. For this reson we recommen the use of OWAcoustic self contine fire resistnt ceilings (see tble on pge 6 n 7). With this type of ceiling it is possible to provie fire resistnce of EI 30 to the services in the voi s well s to the re below. Recesse light fittings OWAcoustic stnr ceilings (steelbem floor, timber roof construction, steel roof construction, timber floor) OWAcoustic ceilings with recesse light fittings offer the sme fire resistnce s close OWAcoustic ceilings, if the recesse light fittings re encse in 16 mm thick Minow Firebox.
