WEDNESDAY, 12 JULY 08:30-09:25 PLENARY ADDRESS: Prof YongliXie; Dean of School of Highways, Chang an University, China SESSION 3C CHINA-AFRICA COOPERATION FORUM CHAIRS: Prof YongliXie, Chang an University/ Prof Alex Visser, University of Pretoria/ Mr Yuchen Wang During SATC2016 and its 3rd China-Africa Co-operation Forum, the Southern Africa-China Transport Co-operation Center(SACTCC) reported the progress to follow up the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum of China-Africa Co-operation(FOCAC) hosted by both AU and two governments of PRC and RSA in Dec. 2015. The University of Pretoria, Chinese Chang an University and the SACTCC signed the MoU of the cooperation on China-Africa Transport Strategy Research Institute(CATSRI) in Feb 2017. This is a milestone for a substantially mutual movement between South Africa/Africa and Chinese counterpart. Two drafted documents on teaching and learning activities at higher educational level for transport development have been approached to South African authority and another African country under the Action Plan (2016-2018) of the FOCAC which was announced at Johannesburg Summit. The SACTCC was supported by the former Hon. Minister Jeff Radebe of Ministry of Transport, RSA and the former H.E. Ambassador Liu Guijin from PR China to RSA and opened in July 2004. It has been based in Pretoria, South Africa. Last decade, SACTCC had promoted the technology exchange and co-operation at transport field and made progress. It hosted and co-sponsored the Forum and international conferences between the Southern Africa and China annually. The number of specific projects on transport technology have been implemented in South Africa, China. More than 30 scholarships and fellowships between Southern Africa and China have been achieved. Currently there are more than 10 specialists on transport and higher education at SACTCC. This Forum is the 4th series during the SATC from 2014 to 2017 as an annual base.
