These procedures are intended for room volumes in the range from 10 m3 to 250 m3 in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 5 000 Hz. The test results can be used to quantify, assess, and compare the airborne sound insulation in unfurnished or furnished rooms where the sound field can or cannot approximate to a diffuse field. The measured airborne sound insulation is frequency-dependent and can be converted into a single number quantity to characterize the acoustic performance using the rating procedures in ISO 717-1. The element methods aim to estimate the sound reduction index of a façade element, for example, a window. The most accurate element method uses a loudspeaker as an artificial sound source. Other less accurate element methods use available traffic noise. The global methods, on the other hand, aim to estimate the outdoor/indoor sound level difference under actual traffic conditions. The most accurate global methods use the actual traffic as sound source. A loudspeaker can be used as an artificial sound source when there is insufficient level from traffic noise inside the room. An overview of the methods is given in Table 1. The element loudspeaker method yields an apparent sound reduction index which, under certain circumstances, can be compared with the sound reduction index measured in laboratories in accordance with ISO 10140. This method is the preferred method when the aim of the measurement is to evaluate the performance of a specified façade element in relation to its performance in the laboratory. The element road traffic method will serve the same purposes as the element loudspeaker method. It is particularly useful when, for different practical reasons, the element loudspeaker method cannot be used. These two methods will often yield slightly different results. The road traffic method tends to result in lower values of the sound reduction index than the loudspeaker method. In Annex D, this road traffic method is supplemented by the corresponding aircraft and railway traffic methods. The global road traffic method yields the real reduction of a façade in a given place relative to a position 2 m in front of the façade. This method is the preferred method when the aim of the measurement is to evaluate the performance of a whole façade, including all flanking paths, in a specified position relative to nearby roads. The result cannot be compared with that of laboratory measurements. The global loudspeaker method yields the sound reduction of a façade relative to a position that is 2 m in front of the façade. This method is particularly useful when, for practical reasons, the real source cannot be used; however, the result cannot be compared with that of laboratory measurements. RETVFL is the vibratory force level transmitted to a mechanical coupler of specified characteristics by a vibrator when applied to the mechanical coupler under stated conditions of test and when energized at the voltage level corresponding to the normal threshold of hearing for location on the mastoid prominence. NOTE 1 Values for the differences in reference equivalent threshold vibratory force levels between location on the forehead and mastoid are included for information in Annex C. Such recommendations required to complement, but not alter any basic European recommendation are given in documentation prepared by each country. recommend precise drying times for backgrounds and render coats. Any times given are for guidance only. This document does not cover the following: a) the use and application of special renders for liquid retaining structures, e.g. coatings, and for backgrounds to cladding systems; b) the structural repair of concrete; c) the installation of proprietary external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS); d)the specification and use of sealants used to seal joints for use with rendering; e)the use of gypsum based renders used externally, but their use may be permitted in some countries; NOTE 2: Gypsum based products soften when subject to prolonged moist conditions. The use of such products externally will depend upon the climatic conditions where the render will be used and on the local building traditions. With the exception of some drier countries in southern Europe gypsum based renders are generally not recommended for external use and are therefore not included within the scope of this document. Their use may be permitted and controlled locally. f) the design and installation of flashings at windowsills and elsewhere. (H) Bitumenske zmesi - Preskusne metode - 50. del: Odpornost proti površinski obrabi Bituminous mixtures - Test methods - Part 50: Resistance to scuffing Osnova: CEN/TS 12697-50:2016 ICS: 93.080.20 This European Technical Specification specifies a test method for determining the resistance to scuffing of asphalt mixtures which are used in surface layers and are loaded with high shear stresses in road or airfield pavement. These shear stresses occur in the contact area between tyre and pavement surface and can be caused by cornering of the vehicle. Due to these shear stresses, material loss will occur at the surface of these layers. The test is normally performed on asphalt layers with a high amount of air voids (e.g. porous asphalt), but can also be applied on other asphaltic mixtures. Test specimens are used either produced in a laboratory or cut from the pavement. NOTE The test is developed to determine the resistance to scuffing for noise reducing surface layers where raveling is the normative damage criterion. The test can also be performed on other surface mixtures with a high resistance to permanent deformation. In case a mixture has a low resistance to permanent deformation, rutting can occur during the test. This can influence the test results.
