Yearly and Special Events Arbor Day Tree Giveaway - April 28th Handed out approximately 5,000 tree and shrub seedlings at the following locations: Faribault, Lamperts Lumber Lonsdale, Feed Store Morristown, Wholesale Tire Northfield, Professional Pride Reality This may be our last year ( timely tree arrival) Rice County Master Gardener s Plant Sale - May 20th MG raised approximately $500 by selling plants that came from MG s gardens. Money will be used to maintain display gardens at the Rice County Fairgrounds. Plant Sale / Gazeebo / Fair Garden
Minnesota Master Gardener Conference: June 23th and 24th Rice County Fair: July 18-23 Display gardens are being being maintained and improved throughout the month of June and July. A raised planter bed has been added to participate in the University seed trials, this years focus is on vegetables Plans are underway to finish the Gazebo plantings. Visitors to the fair will be able to view the information and visual aids used for the MG Pollinator and Monarch projects. Master Gardeners will be handing out free seed packets harvested from our garden We are working with Grows Garden Club and the mayor of Faribault to become a pollinator friendly city Our own Jacob Langeslag (the Goat Guy and his furry four legged weed control experts have been featured on several news channels We are hoping to have the memorial bench in place by fair time Stop by and see us at the fair. This is the 7th year for our garden!
