PB_ER65_ 00 ER65 - Mini Rack Controller Electronic Refrigeration Line Device is a multi-stage digital controller. It is typically applied to small refrigeration rack units piloting compressors or condenser fans. 4 9 7 3 4 0 8 6 5 3 It incorporates control loops that sequence on-off stages and can pilot a proportional device (i.e. fan speed driver). Controls are processed by temperature or pressure sensing the refrigerant variations. 3 6 8 4 5 7 Device is configurable and allows facing a large number of units within the limit of 4 stages. It includes additional features as alarm history page, run time counters for maintenance operations and communication capability to be connected to a monitoring system. Physical Features Robust front panel for durability and long term usage Removable plug connectors for quick mounting and wiring Direct 30V supply: no external transformer required Embedded RS485 (Modbus or N open): no additional communication card required Selectable input: pressure or temperature Application Features Controls: On-off and proportional Flexible sequencer including optimization (i.e. rotation) Maintenance: run time counters, alarm history, Sensor monitoring: minimum and maximum peaks

4 PB_ER65_ 00 Functions Device Features Description Direct Power Supply Devices are powered directly with 30 VAC RS485 Communication Port Keyboard Lock RS485 communication port supports N open or Modbus protocols (see product ordering codes). Port is used for commissioning operations and integration to monitoring systems Display can be locked in order to prevent user to change parameter settings. When locked, only user information is available Pressure or Temperature Control Pressure or temperature inputs can be alternatively selected as control process variable Sequencer Device includes several strategies to sequence the outputs, from fixed sequence to optimization options like rotation or load manager OUT 4 stages relays Device manages to 4 compressors or fans OUT Auxiliary Relays Dedicated relays is available to manage alarm reporting OUT Analogue Output PWM output is also available to pilot speed driver IN 0 0-5 Multifunction Inputs (DI to DI5) Monitoring (Min/Max) Configurable digital inputs are available to manage remote contacts such generic alarm, standby or nd setpoint or circuit alarms such high pressure, low pressure, oil or liquid alarms Device monitors periodically the current sensor value and memorizes the minimum and maximum peaks. Peaks values are visualized on display info menu Control Features Dead Band Control Sequence strategy PI control Alarm Management Description See detailed description hereafter
PB_ER65_ 00 5 Process Variable Control process variable can be selected between temperature and pressure. Display shows both pressure and temperature by applying refrigerant conversion curves. Dead Band Control Control is based on a neutral zone where control action is frozen. Control is activated again if the process variable moves outside this band. Outputs are started if the process variable moves above the dead band. Outputs are stopped if the process variable moves below the dead band. Two separated parameters define the dead band zone around the setpoint. It is then possible to have different start and stop action. Process Variable Start Zone Upper Dead band Neutral Zone - Lower Dead band Time Stop Zone
6 PB_ER65_ 00 5 is blocked between minimum and maximum values to limit user setpoint adjustment. A second setpoint can be defined to save energy during night or reduced load periods. Periods are defined manually from display/network or from external digital input command. limits Maximum setpoint Alternative Selection (option) Normal setpoint Alternative Minimum setpoint or IN Output Timers Start Up timer Timer is applied at device power up. All outputs are delayed. It allows preheating the compressor crankcase before any control operations. Process Variable Control Enable Time Start-Stop timers Power up Timers are applied between the outputs. It prevents from activating or deactivating next output if not required. Process Variable Time Start Delay Stop Delay Output Output
PB_ER65_ 00 7 Output Sequencer Control sequence manages up to 4 outputs. Output Capacity Each ouput is associated with a capacity expressed in % of the total power equipment load. Capacity parameter (OCx on the display) is set to 0 if the output is not used. Example: Compressor - 5kW Capacity = 50% Compressor - 5kW Capacity = 50% Sequence Strategy Sequential: outputs are sequentially activated according to a fixed order (First In Last Out). PV 4 3 SEQUENTIAL 4 3 Rotation: outputs are sequentially activated but the ordering depends on the running time of each output. It is particularly suitable for outputs with same capacity. PV 3 4 ROTATION 4 3 Load optimization: the sequencer selects the number of outputs according to the requested load. It is suitable when outputs have different capacities PV LOAD OPTIMIZATION

PB_ER65_ 00 9 Analog Control Proportional-Integral (PI) control loop can be activated to pilot an analogue output (PWM). It is particularly applied to pilot unit with fan speed driver. Analogue Output 0% Proportional band Process Variable Time Counter A counter is associated to each output. Running hours are memorized by the device and visualized from the display. A threshold value can be set in order to produce an alarm for maintenance operation. Process Variable Time Stage Status Standby mode Unit can be fully stopped by standby commands available on display front panel or wired remote switch.
