The (COSHH) Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations may apply to the use of this product at work. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Operator Protection Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following personal protective equipment: WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING (COVERALLS), SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND FACE PROTECTION (FACESHIELD) when handling the concentrate. However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows they provide an equal or higher standard of protection. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN and EYES. WHEN USING DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE. WASH CONCENTRATE from skin or eyes immediately. WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after work IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible). Environmental Protection To protect aquatic organisms respect an unsprayed buffer zone to surface water bodies in line with LERAP requirements. DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT SPRAY from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 5 m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body, unless a Local Environment Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone (UK only), or within 1m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away from water.

This product qualifies for inclusion within the Local Environment Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) scheme. Before each spraying operation from a horizontal boom sprayer, either a LERAP must be carried out in accordance with CRD's published guidance or the statutory buffer zone must be maintained. The results of the LERAP must be recorded and kept available for three years. Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. (Do not clean application equipment near surface water/avoid contamination from farmyards and roads). THIS MATERIAL AND ITS CONTAINER must be disposed of in a safe way. Storage and Disposal KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. KEEP AWAY FROM FOOD, DRINK AND ANIMAL FEEDING STUFFS. KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed, in a safe place. WASH OUT CONTAINER THOROUGHLY and dispose of safely. DO NOT RE-USE CONTAINER for any purpose. PROTECT FROM FROST. DIRECTIONS FOR USE IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. GENERAL INFORMATION GOZAI controls annual broad-leaved weeds mainly by contact action after uptake by the leaf and other aerial parts of the plant. GOZAI can be used for weed control in potatoes. GOZAI is activated by strong sunlight and warm temperatures. Application is therefore best made during the early and middle part of the day. CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR USE AS AN EARLY POST EMERGENCE HERBICIDE IN POTATOES Rate of Use 0.4 L/ha of GOZAI plus 1.0 L/ha of TOIL adjuvant. Volume Apply GOZAI in 200 L/ha of water. Pressure Spray at a minimum of 3 bars. Weed Control The following broad-leaved weeds are susceptible to GOZAI, when applied early postemergence: Weed Growth stage Susceptibility Amaranth, common Cots 2ETL Susceptible Annual mercury Cots 3ETL Susceptible Black nightshade Cots 2ETL Susceptible Cleavers Cots 1 whorl Susceptible Common groundsel Cots 4ETL Susceptible Fat hen Cots 4ETL Susceptible Field bindweed Cots 4ETL Susceptible Field pansy Cots 4ETL Susceptible Knotgrass Cots 2ETL Susceptible Redshank Cots 2ETL Susceptible Scented mayweed Cots 4ETL Susceptible Shepherd s purse Cots 2ETL Susceptible Volunteer oilseed rape Cots 6ETL Susceptible

Optimal control will be achieved with an application made when the weeds are between the cotyledon and 2-4 expanded leaf stage. Weeds emerging after application will not be controlled. Treatment may cause burn off of emerged potato shoots within 4-10 days. Subsequent crop growth and yield are normally unaffected. Soil Type Any soil type. Latest Timing First Earlies applied from pre-crop emergence up to before 5% crop emergence. Second Earlies and Maincrops applied from pre-crop emergence up to before 10% crop emergence. Potatoes should be less than 10cm high. POTATO HAULM DESICCATION GOZAI is a contact defoliant for use as a haulm desiccant in potatoes. It can be used on all main crop potato varieties which are normally desiccated. Only apply GOZAI to potatoes that have reached the onset of natural senescence. For effective desiccation GOZAI must always be tank mixed with a methylated vegetable oil such as TOIL (A0248), Phase II (A0505) or Spraymate (A0332) at a minimum rate of use of 1.5 L/ha of adjuvant. Under warm dry conditions and where crops are rapidly senescing one application of GOZAI may be sufficient to destroy potato haulm. In practice it is normally necessary to make two applications in order to completely desiccate the potato haulm stems. Where potatoes have been flailed one following application of GOZAI will be adequate to achieve complete haulm desiccation. On seed crops GOZAI should be applied at 0.8 L/ha following flailing, with the crops at the onset of natural senescence and applied once the flailed haulm is clear of the stems that remain. Rate of Use 0.8 L/ha of GOZAI plus 1.5 L/ha of TOIL adjuvant. Up to 2 applications per crop. The minimum interval between applications should not be less than 7 days. The minimum interval between application and harvest for sale or use should be 14 days. Volume Apply GOZAI in a minimum of 200 L/ha of water. When dealing with dense haulm increase the volume of spray up to 400 L/ha. Pressure Spray at a minimum of 3 bars. Timing Apply when natural senescence is commencing in the crop to be treated. Weed Control GOZAI will have a strong desiccant effect on many broad-leaved weed species present in the crop at application. It will not have any effects on grass weeds. Harvest Crops treated with GOZAI should be harvested when the haulm is totally dead and the potato tubers have set and have firm skins. Succeeding Crops After harvest treated land should be disced or cultivated and then ploughed to a minimum depth of 20cms.

Winter cereal crops can be drilled following the above cultivation and ploughing. Crop safety to broad-leaved crops sown after the use of GOZAI as a potato desiccant has not been established. Sowing crops not specifically listed may lead to crop damage and/or yield effects. Avoid overlapping spray swaths. MIXING AND SPRAYING Mixing Half fill the spray tank with clean water and start the agitation. Pour in the required amount of GOZAI and agitate. Add the required amount of TOIL. Add the remainder of the water whilst agitating and continue agitation until spraying is completed. Spraying Apply as a MEDIUM quality spray as defined by BCPC International Spray Classification System. Avoid overlapping spray swaths. Drift Take extreme care to avoid spray drift onto broadleaved crops or plants outside the target area. GOZAI will have adverse effects on broadleaved crops, fruit and glasshouse crops. Do not spray near any open water such as rivers, lakes and water filled ditches. Drift onto open water of GOZAI will have deleterious effects on aquatic plants. After Use Wash equipment thoroughly immediately after use. Fill the tank with clean water plus wetter and flush out. Refill with water and spray out before storage or using other products. Traces of GOZAI may cause damage to susceptible crops sprayed later.
