Metering Box METERING AND AMBIENT HEATING FOR HEATING SYSTEM Overview PRODUCT DATA The Honeywell Substations series consist of the following products: Metering Box (this datasheet) Heat Interface Unit, with instant domestic hot water production (see separate datasheet) To fullfil the plant requirements several options are available for each product range. Fig. 1. Unit as delivered, with blind pipes Application The Metering Box is designed to be applied in central heating systems for multi family dwellings where the domestic hot water production is centralized. The typical functions performed by the Metering Box are the following: Guarantee heat and water metering accuracy for each individual flat, with the optional possibility of connecting signals with a pulse or M-bus system for central reading Facilitate balancing by allowing a balancing device at each flat level. Balancing can be static or dynamic with differential pressure control Collect balancing and metering components in a single box, easier to install and control The Metering Box is delivered with predisposition for installation on site of the specific project required components for balancing and metering (list of suggested Honeywell components is described in this datasheet). Components not included with the unit, must be ordered separately. Before installing components, the Installer can perform a system cleansing and flushing to avoid fouling of the Unit with impurities or debris from the pipe work installation procedures. Fig. 2. Domestic hot water stub piece 1 1 1 1 H G F E The Metering Box unit can provide the following main functions: Heat and water Direct reading/pulse/m-bus metering system (see meters table) Balancing: the unit can equipped with a Honeywell Kombi-3- plus (static balancing) or Honeywell Kombi-3-plus and diaphragm (automatic balancing with differential pressure control) in order to provide the right commissioning of the heating system Heating system control: the unit is equipped with a motorised valve that receives a command from an external thermostat (optional) will allow to open or close the heating circuits Materials Cabinet made of sheet steel. The installation is in wall, horizontal in both directions (see Ordering information) and vertical. Install the product in place protected from frost. Product options The Metering Box product options available are: Power supply 230V (always) Balancing valve option: predisposition for static balancing / automatic balancing with differential pressure control Insulation: with or without pre-assembled insulation Heat Meter type: predisposition for Honeywell heat meters range (see table next pages) Water Meter type: predisposition for Honeywell water meters range (see table next pages) Heating circuit valve: 2-way: for variable flow system. To be used when a modulating pump is installed in the primary circuit and TRVs are installed in the radiator. 3-way: for constant flow system: To be used in the upper floor apartments in order to maintain the main heating rises hot. Servo control closed The pictures show the wiring diagram of the complete 2-point servocontrol (with 1 built-in auxiliary microswitch). The servocontrol is shown open and closed respectively. When the phase is on green wire, the valve connected to the servocontrol opnes; on the contrary, if there is no phase on that wire, the valve closes.
