Not only to keep these demands but to develop them continuously to the benefit of our customers. This is reached by our integrated management system and the clearly defined company. Each of our employees is involved in the management system and is responsible for the quality of our products and services. Quality right from the Start The specialists for electric heating systems

H E ate rs 3 ElE ctric HE ate rs Our scope of supply it passes from heating inserts up to the complete unit for the installation in the ex-threatened area. All our electrical heating systems are tailored to your needs. These include complementary components like condensate, collective container and balance container, water treatment, pump as well as armatures belong to it. The power supply is steered by a switch arrangement and control. Our Management system IECEx Quality Assessment Report Quality Management System according to DIN EN ISO 9001 Safety Management according to SCC**-Catalogue Ex-Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) Pressure Equipment Directive according to DgRI 97/23/EC AD 2000 HP0 ASME U-Stamp

4 application The Application Range for heating inserts and heaters include among others the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, steel, textile, cellulose, oil and gas industries as well as power stations and refineries. The Erection can take place both, in non-explosive and explosion-endangered areas of zones 1 and 2 in the presence of gases and vapors of groups IIa, IIB and IIc. For use in explosion-endangered areas, the standard heating insert is delivered with a connection box in flameproof enclosure, design Ex d, if required, with additional connection boxes increased safety Ex e or Ex i intrinsically safty, including Ec type examination certificate/ec declaration of conformity certificate, thereby the electrical part is separated from the instrumentation part. To keep the temperature class defined by the operator for the place operation by cooling sections and additional thermal protection measures are part of our design and have to be verified at site. The Design for an electric heater depends on the temperature required, the pressure and the connection power. The material is selected according to the medium to be heated, the temperature and pressure. materials such as carbon steel, stainless and heat resistant steels, nickel-based alloys, titanium and other surface-coated special materials are used. The limits of application need to be verified in each individual case. The following operating and design conditions have already been proved to be feasible: > temperatures up to 650 C, with special constructions up to 850 C > pressures up to 250 bar > power inputs of up to 10.000 kw can be reached in one unit so far, however not presenting our maximum power limit > connection voltages up to 690 V, in special cases up to 1200 V The specialists for electric heating systems

H E ate rs 5 a pplicatio n c O nstru ctio n construction An electric heater is comparable with a conventional tube bundle heat exchanger and consists of the following components: > cylindrical shell (flow pipe) with nozzles for medium inlet and outlet and, as required, with nozzles for drain, ventilation, safety valve etc. > heating insert (tube bundle) with electric heating elements (the medium inside the pipe is replaced by electric energy) > girth flange for fixing the heating insert > temperature sensor (limiter) for measuring the heating surface temperature > temperature sensor (controller) for measuring the medium temperature > supports for horizontal or vertical erection > wiring room (pre-chamber) of heating insert > connection box for temperature sensors The medium is heated during the flow. The flow is directed in one or several ways, transversely or longitudinally, depending on the medium and the operating conditions. The maximum temperature permitted on the heating surface (specified by the medium to be heated and the material selection) and the pressure loss permitted need to be taken into consideration. The temperature of heating surface is monitored by at least two temperature sensors (thermocouple, PT100, thermostat), functioning as limiters. as soon as the temperature permitted is reached, the total power of the heater is switched off. A restart can only be effected after having clarified the reason for cut-off.

6 construction Different types of heating elements are used for the transmission of heat, such as hairpin heating elements and ceramic heating elements. Hairpin heating elements The standard hairpin heating elements consist of a metal jacket pipe with a diameter of 8.5 to 16 mm, bended U-shaped. The heating wire is located in the centre of the pipe, embedded in highly compressed magnesium oxide. This guarantees an excellent isolation resistance and a perfect heat conductivity between heating conductor and jacket pipe. The elements are installed into the tube sheet of heating insert by brazing, welding or screw connections. The hairpin heating elements are mainly used for heating up gases and liquids. Ceramic Heating Elements mainly consist of ceramic parts, pushed and fixed onto a guide rod and the heating spiral. The ceramic heating elements are pushed into a metallic heating cartridge tube. The cartridge tube is sealed to avoid direct medium contact and welded pressure-tightly into the tube sheet. The elements can be exchanged without interrupting operation. They are predominantly used for heating fuel oils, thermal oils or other highly viscose fluids. The specialists for electric heating systems

H E ate rs 7 constru ctio n DEsiG n Design The installed power depends on the process requirements. also several operating conditions can be realized with one electric heater. The thermal design of electric heater needs to be calculated in such a way that the medium can absorb the energy supplied without exceeding the temperature permitted on the heating surface. The know how is based on the capability to distribute the power over a surface in a technically and economically optimum solution. Concentrating the power over a small surface produces a high watt density (W/cm ) and thus a higher temperature on the heating surface. In the most unfavorable case this might lead to a damage of medium or damage of heating elements. In comparison, a conventional heat exchanger needs to have sufficient exchange surface available to be able to supply the energy to the medium to be heated. The mechanical design of components under pressure is calculated in accordance with harmonized norms such as Pressure Equipment Directive En 13445, En 12993, on request, by using the respective calculation rules in the country of installation or other international standards e.g. asme including all necessary tests, certificates and inspections. additionally required conditions such as consideration of nozzle loads by connected pipelines, supports and wind loads and seismic safety also belong to the design standard.

8 switch and control cabinets Regulation, Control For all electric heaters, we design and delivery switchboard and control panels for erection in distribution stations or outdoor, here also in hazardous areas. The power is controlled by a signal of 4-20 ma, provided by the customer, either via several heating stages or infinitely variable via thyristor controller. The latter normally disposes of an undercurrent control and/or a 4-20 ma signal for external power indication and are operated in two or three phases in full-wave mode. Before delivery, a general function test is performed, a full current test is feasible as well. The specialists for electric heating systems

H E ate rs 9 s witch and control c abinets KOnstrUKtiO r EFErEncEns practice examples The below-mentioned major projects only present a small selection of all our projects realized. Please contact us if you require additional information. 2x2 Gas heaters The double deck gas heaters were design to heat up big gas amounts, in a refinery in the explosion-threatened area. Because of the high pressure and temperature the challenge was to distribute the achievement on the surface which proves the optimum solution technically and economically. Technical Characteristics: > heating capacity 4x = 850KW 3400KW > maximum temperature: 450 c > Design pressure: 122.6 bar > Supply voltage: max. 690 V / ac Manufacturing Standard > PED 97/23 / Ec > asme VIII Div 1- The range of application: > heating of gas in the hazardous area The functional principle Continuous heating of the medium by heat exchange between pipe and radiator medium. Our know-how is in the heat exchange area and optimally adapted to the individual operating conditions adapt to Ensure that the process temperature reaches is permissible without heating surface or the permissible pressure drop is exceeded.
