Assignment #1 Skills Check 1&2 and Refresher Excercises In my cool color table and light picture my lighting is expressed through the window instead of the light fixture. The light from the window bounces onto the back wall and also onto the wall furthest away from it. Lighting is expressed on the floor close to the window and also on the table in the room. The corners and the wall that holds the window are the darkest. For my color scheme I rendered the floor to be the darkest blue, the walls to be a medium bluegreen, and the ceiling to be the brightest green. The lighter and darker areas of the picture make it clear where the light source is.
Assignment #2 Reward A, Prep for A3 and Scenario #A1 In my monochromatic stairs and figure picture, my lighting is expressed through the door. The light reflects down the stairs to the wall on the left. It also bounces off of the left wall onto the right wall. It reflects onto the bottom floor around the stairs also. The corners of the wall behind the door are in shadow and also the corners of the stairs. For my monochromatic color scheme I used different shades of grey. The different shades of grey help determine the lit areas from the shadowed areas. I used a darker shade of gray on the floor, a medium gray on the walls and stairs, and the lightest shade of gray on the ceiling.
Assignment #3 Scenario #A2 In my cool color table, window, and figure picture, the lighting was expressed through the window. The light reflects down onto the table below it and also onto the floor, showing the shadow of the table. The light reflects onto the ceiling right above it and also onto the wall where the figure stands. The corners of the walls and the wall that holds the window are the darkest of the picture, indicating the shadows. For my cool color scheme I used different shades of green and some blues to help show lighted and shadowed areas. I used the darkest green on the floor, a medium green on the walls, and I used the lightest green on the ceiling.
Assignment #4 Scenario #B1 In my cool colored art gallery picture, the lighting was expressed through the skylight. The light from the window reflects down on the chair, the table, and also onto the tiled and carpeted floor. The shadows are below the table, at the base of the chair, and also at the darkest corners of the walls. For my cool color scheme I used a darker green for the floor, a little lighter green for the carpet, and a really light green for the ceiling. The walls are a medium tone blue showing where the light hits. The skylight has metal connections, therefore they are gray.
Assignment #5 Scenario #B2 I designed a nightclub using the color scheme discords. A discord is a loosely organized, disharmonized combination that departs from the natural ordering of color. I chose a nightclub because many colors can be found there to create vibrancy, with the purpose of having a good time. The theme, underwater, is emphasized by the fish tank, light blue tiled floors, deep blue walls, and magenta chairs. These colors show variety that does not match but, blend together to show discords. The light is emphasized on the walls and the fish tank.
Assignment #6 Scenario #B3 I designed a Victorian, home style kitchen. Wood is the basis of texture in this kitchen due to an easy cleaning process. I decided to go with a warm color scheme to emphasize the different tones of wood floor and the wood beams on the ceiling. The track lighting in between the beams are able to be adjusted according to the time of day. Since wood is so dark, at night, the lighting is at its highest degree reflecting light on the island and the floor. There is lighting emphasized on the brick wall behind the stove top. Task lighting is also under the corner cabinets to light the marble countertops. The floor, the beams, and the frames are the same color wood and the walls are show a hint of green.
Assignment #7 SIST Scenario #B5 I designed a warm colored mansion with a party scene. Since the mansion was inherited by friends, there have been many renovations, such as the glass banister walls and the wide open glass patios doors to match the windows. The nighttime scene is lighted by square chandelier and the under lighting above the bar. The dark ceilings match the cushions of the chairs and stool. The ceiling has a bright dropped beam matching the first floor tiled floors. The second floor has golden carpet, matching the area rug on the first floor. The maroon stucco walls adds an old time feel to the elegant party.
