Our products are QS approved All products of our product range are subject to a continual quality control process during production. A standardised pre-delivery check is performed prior to shipment. Development, production, shipping and our well-known competent After Sales Service are subject to the stringent requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001. BTR Group has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for years. Compliance with the requirements of the standard are regularly verified by VdS Schadenverhütung (A company of the German Insurance Association GDV). Products requiring CE conformity in accordance with applicable regulations are identified with the CE symbol. Declarations of conformity are available for all affected products and can be obtained upon request. The BTR Group The BTR Group has been active in the problem area of smoke vent systems for many decades. Development, production, supply and service, especially of electric motor driven smoke vent systems, are the main focus of our activities. We are also well known for the development of special solutions in the area of smoke extraction, regardless whether the demand concerns electrical, pyrotechnical or pneumatic actuation. An important aspect of our field of activity is training and education of our staff, not only concerning products, but also in regard to service and commissioning. Our partner organisations in Germany and abroad are at your service with advice and support, in order to meet any fire protection requirement in the interest of the customer as well as safety. Our experienced engineers are available to solve your particular problems.

Danger by flue gases/consequential damages Fire casualties are smoke casualties. Smoke from a fire consists of a mix of complete and incomplete combustion. Depending on the nature of the source of the fire, the smoke is mixed with solid particles and soot particles. There are two possible causes for death by asphyxiation: 1. The smoke of the fire contains lethal toxic components. These may, depending on their concentration and type, result in death within a very short time. 2. The smoke of the fire contains so-called corrosive components. Inhalation of these substances causes causticization (burning) of the lungs and respiratory tract. In most cases, the interaction of both causes is the reason for smoke poisoning and serious internal injuries of fire victims. The consequences are permanent injuries or death of fire victims. Propagation of smoke without and with a smoke vent system Fire victims as a consequence of direct contact with fire are relatively rare. However, this type of risk increases, if there is an uncontrolled blazing fire due to the absence of smoke and heat extraction systems. Flue gas volumes created by fires Almost any type of combustion results in the creation of more or less toxic flue gases. The diagram at right shows the enormous volumes of flue gases that may be created within a very short time during the combustion of various building materials. Particularly building materials that are used for heat or sound insulation are giving off very high volumes of flue gas during combustion. Rooms or buildings without a smoke vent system can be completely filled with smoke within minutes. One example: A staircase with a floor space of 16 m 2 and a height of 15 metres is completely filled with smoke and conflagration gases more than 100 times with the combustion of just 10 kg of foam rubber. Fumes, conflagration gases and smoke development with combustion of 10 kg of material.

Electric motor driven skylight Smoke vent system control panel Electric motor driven window Smoke vent button on top floor Smoke vent button on ground floor Example: Staircase smoke vent system Smoke extraction systems designed by BTR provide smoke-free escape routes and secure access for the fire brigade, resulting in the preservation of life and property as well as limiting fire damage.

Smoke extraction and ventilation systems with electric motor driven actuation Utilisation: Smoke vent systems in staircases, meeting halls and other buildings, in accordance with German building regulation: Advantages/features: High level of operational security due to certified products. Daily ventilation with any desired flap opening position possible. Functional security in case of 230 V mains power failure through built-in emergency batteries. Electrical integration with other systems possible. Attractively designed actuators and drives. Connection to nearly all types of flaps, windows and skylights possible. Low maintenance, hardly any consumables in the course of maintenance or wilful actuation.

Smoke vent buttons Smoke vent buttons are pressed in an emergency to manually trigger an electric motor driven smoke vent system. In accordance with the locally applicable building regulation, one or multiple smoke vent buttons are required. They are available in the approved colours orange, grey, blue and yellow. A hidden Reset button can be used to reset the smoke vent system after it has been triggered in an emergency. Control panels The smoke vent system control panel receives external signals and commands, processes these and controls the 24 V motorised actuators of the smoke vent system. The control panel houses the power supply, control system, terminal strips, battery charging devices and two maintenance-free emergency power batteries. The smoke vent system control panels are offered in compact design units for standard systems, for example, in staircases, and in modular design for custom-tailored applications, for example, for glass facades in shopping centres. Motors The attractively styled 24 V motorised actuators are suitable for all common types of flaps and wings. The range of products includes motors with a stroke of up to 1000 mm and lifting power of up to 1000 N. The motor housings can be painted in any available RAL colour. A wide range of brackets is also available.

Chain drives 24 V chain drives are used to satisfy the highest demands on visual appearance, while at the same time assuring compliance with building regulations. These attractively styled motors come with a stroke of up to 600 mm and lifting power of up to 400 N. They are predominantly used with sash and top-hung sash windows. Automatic wind-rain actuation In connection with the operating mode for daily ventilation, it is possible to automatically close the smoke vent system by means of an automatic wind-rain actuator. Naturally, an alarm case will continue to have priority. The point of closure is adjustable.

Smoke vent systems protect life and property Smoke vent drives on window sashes provide not just security, but are also attractively styled and come with the added daily ventilation function.
