AIR CONDITIONING TRAINING & VRQ S IMI Air Conditioning VRQ (On-Site) Who is it for? This single unit VRQ (Vocationally Related Qualification), which is approved by DEFRA, is suitable for competent MAC technicians who have completed a previous qualification which can include in-house training. MAC technicians must already have a good understanding of components and the system operation to carry out servicing procedures relating to air conditioning systems. Successfull completion of the VRQ assessment provides the following qualification AC1 Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006 inc annex EC307-2008) Assessment Process The assessment begins with a 30 question on line exam covering the following areas: Air Conditioning system operation (correct pressures and diagnostics) Air Conditioning system components and locations Electrical systems F-gas regulations Kyoto Protocol Montreal Agreement The effect of F-gasses on the environment Followed by two practical tests which include: Recovery of refrigerant from an external bottle. This includes safe working practices, the correct use of PPE, calculating the quantity of refrigerant to be recovered and leak prevention. Also, air conditioning service on a vehicle.
