The first step is to print the empty floor plan, and try different ways to fit rooms inside the space. First decide where is the entrance, then divide the space into different rooms. Once you have a layout of the rooms, you can figure out windows, doors and also the furniture. Once you have developed the general floor plan, you can proceed to the next steps: flooring, wall finishing, reflected ceiling plan and perspectives. You are free to do this assignment by hand OR using Autocad (which is much faster). You are free to draw the perspectives by hand OR with a 3D software.

On Week 8: each student will submit to me one or more draft versions of the floor plan with all the rooms and furniture - I will review and make some comments to help you (you can either sketch on paper and scan, or draw directly on Autocad). On Week 9: everyone must have decided the final version of the floor plan and drawn it with Autocad - you will submit a PDF copy to me, so I can review it. On Week 10: based on the floor plan with furniture, you will sketch a draft version of the interior perspectives (or if you prefer, you can do a 3D) - I will comment on them and you will fix it before the submission. PROJECT 4 - DUHOK COWORKING SPACE DEADLINE WEEK 14 Design Brief Design a "coworking space" open from 7am to 10pm where people can go to work for a day or more and also have meetings. A coworking space is a shared office where anyone can go, sit down with his/her own laptop and comfortably work. Your users are: work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation; your user is a person who from time to time wants to go to work with its own laptop in a cosy, quiet and functional place. Based on the user, the coworking space is a place where you have proper desks and chair (even office chairs), a very good wifi, power plugs. You also need to provide a meeting space (a private room) that someone can rent. In a typical coworking space there is also a pantry and water and coffee is provided. People pay by the hour or by the day a small fee to use the space. For instance, someone can bring their own lunch and put it in a fridge.

PROJECT 4 - DUHOK COWORKING SPACE DEADLINE WEEK 14 Coworking Coworking is a style of work that involves a shared working environment, often an office, and independent activity. Unlike in a typical office environment, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization. Typically it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation. Coworking is a social gathering of a group of people who are still working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with people who value working in the same place alongside each other. Coworking offers a solution to the problem of isolation that many freelancers experience while working at home, while at the same time letting them escape the distractions of home.
