Safety Precautions To prevent personal injury, injury to others, or damage to property, read and follow these safety precautions carefully before use and use this product accordingly. WARNING Use in water prohibited Disassembly prohibited Do not immerse in water or pour water on the unit. Always shelter your cooler from rain and snow. Risk of short circuit or electric shock. Do not store flammable items such as gasoline, thinner or aerosol spray. Keep flammables away from unit. Danger of explosion from gasoline, thinner or aerosol spray. This unit must not be disassembled, repaired or modified by anyone except a repair technician. Risk of combustion, shock or malfunction causing injury. Keep cooler and power supply out of direct sunlight. Solar heat can limit cooling ability. UV rays can cause damage to cooler. Unit becomes heavy after storing items inside. Use caution when lifting or transporting. 1 Do not let children use the product alone. Keep infants away. Risk of burns, electric shock or injury. Do not store medicine or items requiring precise temperature control. Interrupted power or improper use may cause damage to cooler contents. When setting the temperature to FREEZE-1 or FREEZE-2, do not store items such as glass bottles or cans that break or burst from freezing. Contents may freeze and break the container, causing injury. When opening or closing the lid, do not place your hand at the edge of the container. Hand may get caught, causing injury. Do not touch the inside of the cooler with wet hands. Risk of frostbite. Do not place ice or water directly inside the cooler. Do not store dry ice. May cause shock, malfunction or rupture. Do not block the air intake area or air outlet vent. May cause malfunction. WARNING 2 Do not place objects or weight on the unit. Heavy items may fall, causing injury or product damage. The inner box is a condenser, which may malfunction if scratched. Do not insert foreign materials in the air intake area or air outlet vent. Do not cut, damage, modify, sharply bend, pull, twist or knot the power cable. Also, placing heavy objects on the cable or forcing it into small spaces will damage the cable, which may result in fire or electric shock. Do not use if either the household power supply cable or vehicle power cable is damaged, or if the DC power socket is loose. May cause electric shock, short circuit or combustion. If used in a vehicle, disconnect the DC power cable whenever engine is turned off for extended periods of time. The power does not turn off after switching off the engine in some cars. If the power plug is left connected, the battery may become run down or damaged. Avoid using in places expected to reach 120 F or more (example: car trunk on a hot day). The temperature of cooler contents may rise, causing damage or spoilage. Avoid dropping or striking unit. This may cause damage to the electronic components inside. Use the handles when carrying the product. Holding the product using other parts may cause you to drop it, resulting in injury. When removing the power plug, be sure to hold the end of the plug rather than pulling on the power cable. There is danger of electric shock or short circuit causing fire. Do not remove frost or ice on the inside of the cooler using a knife, screwdriver, etc. (See Defrosting on page 7.) Do not attach to power source with reversed polarity. This will cause damage to the electrical components and void your warranty.

Using the Product 1. Set the unit on a flat, solid surface with the lid facing up. 5.6" max tilt 4. If used in a vehicle, insert the DC cable power plug into the cigarette lighter or accessory socket. 5. If used indoors, use the household power supply provided. Do not use the unit on a surface tilted more than 12 degrees (5.6") as it may result in malfunction. Set up the unit in a location that does not interfere with driving. Secure the unit to prevent shifting or tipping. 2. If in vehicle, start the engine. The unit will not operate at 24 VDC. 3. Insert the DC plug into the DC power socket of the cooler. Tips Insert the power plug as far as it will go. Keep the socket clean. A dirty socket will cause poor electrical contact, resulting in reduced performance. Do not use a socket splitter or extension cable. The voltage will drop and the unit may stop working. The DC power cable has a (+) and (-). Align the protrusion of the DC socket with the indentation in the DC power cable and insert. Inserting the top and bottom in reverse will cause damage. This unit cannot be used in 24 VDC vehicles (trucks, buses, etc.). It is designed for 12 VDC only. Attaching it to a 24 VDC source will cause damage. Always check the "on/off" switch to make sure it is in desired status after extended low voltage or power interuption. The unit will shut off automatically to protect the battery under conditions such as extended car engine cranking. Be careful of the current capacity. When using this product together with other electrical products in the vehicle, do not exceed the capacity of the vehicle. A fuse may blow. Use only the power cable and power supply supplied with your cooler. If you need replacements, contact The Coleman Company, Inc. for replacements by calling one of the numbers on the front cover of this manual. 5 DC socket Protrusion DC power cable Indentation 6. Press the power button. On Flashing 6 Press and hold the On/Off button until you hear a high-pitched tone and the power indicator lights up (about one second). The COOL-1 temperature light will flash and the unit will begin operating. 7. Press and hold the temperature setting button for approximately one second to set the desired temperature (refer to page 3 for each setting). Example: To set the temperature to 43 F (6 C) When the temperature reaches approximately 43 F (6 C), the light will stay illuminated. Flashing On Press and hold COOL-2 for about 1 second. Note: After turning the power off, the temperature setting will remain in memory for up to 4 hrs. If the power remains off for an extended period of time, the setting will return to COOL-1 when switched on again. Always verify the temperature setting when turning on. Condensation may form on the outside of the unit depending on the environment it is being used in. This may cause corrosion, so wipe away condensation as quickly as possible. Condensation is a natural phenomenon, and is not a sign of malfunction.

Storing Food Items Do not store for long periods. Use items in the order stored. Inside the cooler To prevent spoilage from condensation, put water-sensitive items in a plastic bag or container before storing. Defrosting Defrost the cooler regularly. Frost will form on the inside of the cooler. To defrost, turn off power, open lid and remove all items. Allow frost to melt. Wipe the inside surfaces with a soft cloth to remove moisture. Maintenance Press the On/Off button to turn off the unit, and carry out the following maintenance after unplugging the power cable. Main unit Immerse a soft cloth into mild dish detergent diluted with water and wipe the main unit after wringing the cloth. Never immerse the unit in water. Never wipe the unit using thinner, benzene or spray cleaners. Do not rub the unit with a scrubbing brush, cleanser, etc. When there are few items in the cooler Lay bottles on their side to prevent them from falling and breaking. Bottles may crack from freezing. Be sure to select, or as appropriate. Air intake area Clean the air intake area with a vacuum cleaner at least once a month. If the air intake filter is dirty, product performance will be hampered. Remove stubborn dirt by rubbing gently with a commercially-available brush. Leave adequate space Overloading interferes with the flow of cold air. Clean food products Wipe off moisture or dirt before storing items. As for the food such as vegetables and fruits, which will be touched directly with mouth, put it in a plastic bag or container before storing. Seal items in airtight containers, plastic bags or plastic wrap. Sealing items prevents odors from spreading and food from drying out. Keep lids on bottles or containers tightly closed. Accessing the filter Cleaning Position Handling condensation The filter cannot be completely removed. To clean, gently pull the filter out until you feel resistance. After cleaning the filter, always return it to its original position. Damage may occur if dust enters the internal components. It is best to store items that have been pre-chilled. Do not store items that are 140 F (60 C) or over. For faster cooling, prechill items of food and drink in your home refrigerator before placing them in the cooler. Loose Ice Unsealed Liquid Items that cannot be stored Medicine or items requiring precise temperature control Condensation will form on the product during operation. Quickly wipe any moisture that forms on the main unit, or drips out of the cooler. Put water-sensitive foods in containers or plastic bags before cooling. Condensation is a natural phenomenon, and is not a sign of malfunction. 7 8

To Store Specifications 1. Switch the unit off using power button and disconnect the power plug. 2. Remove any items being stored in the cooler. Clean inside and outside of the cooler with a damp cloth. Wipe off any moisture and allow it to thoroughly dry. 3.
