Fire and Emergency Plan: Evacuation & Invacuation April 2016 1 P a g e
All classrooms have notices detailing emergency evacuation procedures. Emergency exits are detailed. A siren will signal a fire/emergency alarm. In the event of an alarm, the whole school will be evacuated immediately. Students should be evacuated in an orderly manner by the class teacher and each class lined up in Registration Groups at their respective assembly area. Any available staff (if safe to do so) should check all areas such as toilets in the vicinity of their classroom. Main Office Staff/The Attendance Officer will distribute registers on the playground. Form Tutors should take a register immediately. Any absence should be reported to the member of the Leadership Team posted in the centre of the main school yard. Nobody should re-enter the building unless given permission by the Head or Deputy. All alarms should be treated as the real thing. Visitors, Support Staff, Contractors and any other staff not registering a form group should assemble near the steps to the Creative Studies block and register with the member of the Office Staff on duty there. INVACUATION/OTHER EMERGENCY SITUATIONS Intermittent or continuous ringing of the school bell will signal to staff that there is an incident in school and that they must stay where they are and await further instructions. Students are not to be allowed out of class until further notice. SLT will decide on the next course of action and will direct as required depending on the situation. Intruder in school: If you have a serious concern about an intruder in school, phone either Reception, the Main Office or the Head s PA. Following instruction from the Headteacher, the school bell will ring continuously. If you hear this continuous bell, keep Students in classrooms until further notice. 2 P a g e
