Hybrid Ditch requires an outfall Be sure to do soils testing Prepare plan and profiles to assist with determining cover requirements over pipe Prepare cross sections to assist with determination of tie-in with existing ground If existing street has slope, then set ditch to follow grade Ditch depth should be set a maximum of 1.5 feet and TC of inlet 6 inches above flow line Inspect during construction to ensure native materials, such as clays do not get placed in trench 35
Provides detention, infiltration, re-charging of ground water and provides overflow for extreme rainfall events Alleviation of standing water in flood plagued neighborhoods Utilization of the hybrid ditch (green infrastructure) Elimination of a failing private sewer system and septic tank elimination Replacement of water line Completion of resurfacing or reconstruction of streets 36
Provided investments in neighborhoods Provided much-needed infrastructure improvements in neighborhoods Allows the City of Indianapolis to be more attractive for economic growth 37
