Here are the technologies that once again have made Pioneer A/V receivers the industry standard. Pioneer Digital Core Engine Our Digital Core Engine incorporates all digital signal processing into one powerful, compact circuit board, shortening the signal path and minimizing radiation. Its double-precision, high-speed (180 MIPS for VSX-1014TX-K; 150 MIPS for other models) Motorola 48-bit DSP is the same chip used in Dolby and DTS theater systems worldwide, as well as in the creation of music, movies, and television shows. The benefits? Low jitter, a super-accurate PLL sound-processing clocking module, and virtually no audio degradation. Plus, this processor s low impedance stabilizes power throughout the chip, preventing internal noise that can affect signal purity. Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System (MCACC) To achieve optimal audio performance, your speakers need to be fine-tuned for the room they re in. Room size and shape, floor and wall textures, the quality and relative size of your speakers all of these factors affect performance. Pioneer has a solution: our A/V receivers offer the most precise acoustic calibration available without professional support. It s called Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System, or MCACC, and it works in any room regardless of shape or size. It s available in our VSX-1014TX-K, VSX-D914-K, and VSX-D814-K/S, and in our VSX-D514-K/S in Quick Set-up mode. Automatic MCACC Set-up (VSX-1014TX-K and VSX-D914-K) uses a microphone to monitor a room s acoustic environment, then determines the size and number of speakers, as well as channel level and listener-to-speaker distances. The VSX-1014TX-K even has a 5-band equalizer for more precise adjustment. Manual MCACC Set-up (VSX-D814-K/S) provides special built-in test tones to guide the connection of each speaker, letting you use the front left speaker as a reference to fine-tune channel level and channel delay. With MCACC, you can have the ultimate home entertainment system one that is customized for your own home. A simply smarter design: the VSX-1014TX-K s massive heat sink typifies Pioneer s attention to detail and simplicity of design.

R E C E I V E R T E C H N O L O G Y Advanced Direct Energy MOSFET (VSX-1014TX-K) As developers of MOSFET analog signal boosting in multi-channel A/V receivers, we ve pushed the envelope again with Advanced Direct Energy MOSFET circuitry. This new advancement offers high-power drivability, ultra-efficient amplification, stable imaging, and low energy loss. The VSX-1014TX-K is designed with heat compensation in the power chip and an AC/DC isolated amp module to minimize power imbalances that can distort the sound stage. Power amplification units are placed symmetrically to precisely optimize each MOSFET condition and to maximize electric power. As a result, each channel achieves powerful output, exceptional sound quality, and clarity in every audible detail, even at low impedance. Pioneer Hybrid Amplification (VSX-D914-K, VSX-D814-K/S and VSX-D514-K/S) The amplification system s main components are built onto a single integrated circuit, for perfect precision even when processing high-level current. Since heat influences the amount of bias an output transistor requires to reproduce sound, Pioneer engineered a special Thermal Compensation Transistor to maintain correct bias levels (see diagram, below) regardless of temperature, minimizing total harmonic distortion. Direct Construction To eliminate undesirable electrical influence, Direct Construction keeps critical circuitry separate (for example, digital from analog, and video from audio). Also, the positioning of key parts is carefully mapped out, to optimize signal transmission efficiency. (See diagram, below.) THX* Select (VSX-1014TX-K) Famed director George Lucas established THX technology as the big-theater audio reference standard. Now, Pioneer advances home theater surround once again with THX Select, designed for high-impact multichannel audio in rooms up to 2,000 cubic feet, such as your media room. The THX certification requires the receiver s built-in amplifiers to meet extremely rigorous guidelines relating to sound fidelity and power output, ensuring an excellent reproduction of the theater experience in your home. *THX is a trademark or registered trademark of THX Ltd. Evolving Our Tradition We pioneered receivers featuring Dolby Digital, Dolby THX, and DTS 96/24, the first compressed multi-channel format to support 96kHz/24-bit resolution. Now, our 6- and 7-channel receivers offer new Pro Logic IIx for 7.1-channel playback of traditional stereo and 5.1/6.1-channel content. Our VSX-1014TX-K, VSX-D914-K, and VSX-D814-K/S can apply Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES decoding to 6.1-channel output, and their DTS NEO:6 capability can produce 6.1-channel surround from 2-channel sources. Advanced Surround Modes Pioneer s exclusive DSP technology lets you experience movies and music as never before. Virtual Surround Back mode deepens and broadens the sound stage by creating a "phantom" rear surround effect without using a surround back speaker. 5/6/7-Channel Stereo mode simulates a regular stereo acoustic environment while using all your system s speakers to create Original Surround modes. For the most compelling entertainment possible, Advanced Theater DSP modes create various simulated sound stages depending on the room environment and applications (choose between Cinema, Music, TV, Game, and Sports). And, Expanded Theater mode extends the depth, breadth, and dynamism of Dolby Surround sources, for a more faithful reproduction of 5-channel sound. Quick Set-up, Friendly Control Besides the professional-quality precision of MCACC Set-up, select Pioneer receivers offer the ultimate convenience of Quick Set-up. Just input the room size and the number of connected speakers, and the optimal levels and delay time will be set automatically. Component Video Switching simplifies your system when you add more components, and our smart, comprehensive remote controllers make set-up and operation simple.
